Great for a quick and healthy lunch downtown! They were happy to work with my allergy accomodations and make easy substitutions. They were quick to make my to-go order to take back to the office.

I was looking for a quick plant-based lunch in the P&L area, in modern eatery was a short walk from my hotel. The restaurant is clean and we lit, which welcomes you into the space. This is the type of place where you order at the register and are giving a number for your food to be delivered to the table if you're dining in. I visited just before 11 AM and ordered lunch just based on the menu options that seemed appetizing. However, it took my pizza a little longer to come out than I anticipated. So, while waiting, I changed my dine in order to a to go order. The worker was apologetic and made sure that my pizza came out box to go. I did not open it until I was back at the hotel, and was surprised to see that the toppings don't didn't go all the way to the edge of the crust. The taste was just okay for me. I actually enjoyed the crust more than the toppings. I'd go here again to try different items on the menu.

The food was excellent. This is a treat at the Power and Light district for those of us who want healthy food and not bar food. I had no idea about this place until I googled for places to eat near T-Mobile. My husband and I both enjoyed their sweet potato soup, which I highly recommend. He had the Thai bowl and I had the shrimp club salad that was excellent.

The Citrus Chicken was a standout with its beautiful presentation and delicious taste, making for a filling yet light meal. One staff member was particularly kind and welcoming. Did a pickup order but the inside was very bright and clean.

There's a new Modern Market Eatery that has arrived Power & Light District serving up some of the tastiest good for you food. Centrally located to everything you love downtown making it the perfect spot to grab a bite. Here's what I loved... - fresh salads, bowls, pizzas, soups and sandwiches - sweet treats that are delicious. cookies are a must try - new to menu bacon jam club was so good. 10/10 - offering wine & beer - fountain machine offering crushed ice and Boylan Bottling was very impressive - welcoming dining area - scenic patio seating - fast and friendly service - also offering catering - amazing rewards program and great specials

Fresh eats, fun menu and friendly service. When I found out they opened up in downtown, I was excited to give them a try since I've been looking for a fresh and light fare closer to home. The interior is kept simple and clean, lot of (non-alcoholic) beverage options and a good selection of food ranging from salads, to healthy bowls, diverse sandwiches and pizza. I tried their Lemongrass Tuna Bowl which was an accompanied by a lemongrass aioli and chile vinegar that surprisingly balanced each other out quite well. Delivery of the food was not smooth as staff is still ironing out the kinks but everything else was great.

Super yummy salads that are incredibly filling! I usually pair the salads with a good ollipop (which are also served at this location)

    Bacon Jam Club

Lots of healthy options on the menu. I'll try for a bowl next time, because the Bacon Jam Club was super mid and very expensive for what it was. Couldn't taste the jam at all and overall dry. Tell me this doesn't kinda look like a picnic meal?

This is just as great as a Cava bowl! I got the lemongrass tuna and the tuna was honestly so fresh. The sauce was the best part! It was like a salty fish sauce but wasn't overpowering. The staff was really nice and suggested this bowl as my first time trying it. I was impressed by the bright ambiance and how clean looking the place was. I would recommend trying this place! They have so many options like salads, bowls, pizza, and desserts.

You order at the counter when you walk in, so it has a casual, almost cafeteria-style setup, but the space itself is BEAUTIFUL. The building has so much character, history and gorgeous architecture, and the decor gives very warm, rustic, farm-to-table, homegrown vibes. There are interesting little details everywhere you look. It also seems to be a great daytime meeting spot. Kansas City is apparently still a very small town because during one lunch I randomly ran into both a friend from undergrad AND an old coworker I hadn't seen in forever. I ordered the Salmon BLT and really enjoyed it. The salmon was delicious, the brioche was great, and even the chips were good. If I could change one thing, I think a slice of cheese would take the sandwich up another notch. Provolone would be good, but pepper jack might really set it off. Overall, my food was wonderful, I loved the atmosphere, and it's a great choice for lunch when you want something casual but still want to sit somewhere with personality. Definitely a spot I'd come back to.

Normally a second stop on such short timeline is a non-option, but that Steak Chimi had me asking questions... Is she really like that? Knocking my socks off with ease and leaving my cuticles filled with buttery remember-me's. I had to see her again. Had to! On the second time of asking, I wanted to see if she danced a different tune just as well. Putting on a Chicken Cobb for size proved ill-fitting, at least stood beside THAT sandwich. Nothing to make me crawl back with a humbling desperation. Inflation makes your lunch $10-15 already, so may as well make it twenty, order the right thing, and the Russell becomes worth frequenting. Just make sure she's wearing her shooting boots - we don't have room to thirst for Cobbs y'all.

We didn't sample, but next time I'd like to try a flight of their wellness drinks! The LETTUCE CRUNCH WRAPS (soy-glazed jicama & tofu, lentil, pickled veg, walnut, cilantro, sesame dip) were an absolute favorite. Highly recommended! The texture was very well balanced. Silky smooth butter lettuce and a delicious sauce on the side, although it truly didn't even need it. The AVOCADO TOSTADAS (blue corn tostada, guacamole, quinoa, white bean, radish, pickled red onion, super seed) were yummy, but our least favorite of the three. Instead of a thin layer of mashed avocados, I'd honestly just put a few nice slices of avocado for the bulk of it. Taste was lovely! It is a totally cold dish, fyi. The HARVEST WOK BOWL (split pea-fu, beluga lentil, farro, snap pea, greens, brown rice, daikon, cashew, ginger-scallion sauce) was completely phenomenal. I could do without the split pea-fu, but it probably added some great nutrition! The FLAVOR and texture of this dish was so so good. I can't even right now. (As my teenager would say...) Enjoy!!

Okay Modern Market, I see you…read more I was on the hunt for a healthy-ish spot for lunch (I mean, hello it is January), when I came upon Modern Market Eatery on Yelp. Upon doing some research I learned it's a scratch kitchen specializing in clean eats, and that it's a chain. A win for the health options, a ding for the chain, but not all chains are bad, an we are living in a time where there are some winners. So, I packed myself up and headed down the road to Prairie Village. It's still fairly new, and it has that squeaky clean feeling to it when you arrive. Inside it's counter service and you seat yourself (they will bring the food to you). It kind of reminded me of how Noodles and Company felt when they first became a thing way back in the early 2000s. I ordered a thai salad that came in at under 400 calories so I was honestly skeptical at how big or flavorful it would really be when it arrived, and holy cow was it good. The chicken was cold, but still held some flavor, the dressing was great, there were fresh veggies, pickled onions. It was one of the best 400 calorie meals I've had in a long time. My dad ordered the salmon curry and he also enjoyed his though I didn't try it so jury's out on my opinion! I left full and happy to have discovered this spot. I'll be back soon!
