the interior of a restaurant

This place is awesome! Like it says, it looks super modern, and the place is clean, neat, and tidy. :) I love how they have a lot of options for healthy food, I got to try protein bowl with ahi tuna and cauliflower rice and two sides, fire roasted veggies and mashed sweet potato! It was so good, I really liked the ahi, it's seared so cooked outside and raw inside! Yummm :) And the cauliflower rice was so satisfying, as if I was eating actual grains. Two sides were good, too! I feel like the portion is somewhat small to me, but the food was good and it is definitely on the healthy side, so I felt good eating it! And this place is dog friendly! I'd definitely come here again :D

This place is growing on me. The first time I had it I ordered takeout and I didn't love it, but I decided to try it for dine in and I enjoyed it. I ordered the Buddha bowl and the modern avocado toast. Both were flavor full and portioned well. This place is also pretty cute inside. It's midrange on price but the food is on the healthier side so I think it's worth it. The service is also great. This is a great spot for lunch.

One of the best and healthiest food and lunch spots I've been to. The people and vibe are always great. I'll keep coming back.

As with most people, COVID has resulted in me ordering a lot from ride share companies. The food is usually subpar because errors in food preparation, forgotten items, or lack of quality. Modern Market has been one I've wanted to try and frankly not sure why it took me so long to do so. Today, I'm glad I gave it a try. There is nothing subpar about Modern Market! Clean eating, fresh, enlightening, and a local eatery that has a balanced menu. The salads were bright in color, tossed with a variety of toppings and joined by a side of their house Caesar dressing which is the bomb. Pizzas are good and don't leave you heavy. The soups are BOOM! on point. Skip the fast food lines and check-out Modern Market. Don't fall asleep at your desk after your lunch break and give 'em a chance. Join the revolution!

Cute hipster joint with alternative options and healthy dishes. By hipster I mean they go all out on avocado and toast for $4.50 hipster. My husband ordered that and the Mediterranean bowl which looked and tasted pretty delicious. I ordered the steak sandwich because I'm a carnivore and needed some meat in my life. The ciabatta bread did its usual and hurt the roof of my mouth but overall the sandwich was really good! Could've done without the aioli to be honest but it wasn't too bad. I really liked their array of lemonade options! There was carrot, classic, and cucumber mint which all looked absolutely refreshing. We tried the carrot which surprisingly wasn't too bad but super sweet.

I have been here a few times already and the food is pretty consistent. My last meal here was a BLT+A. Instead of bacon, it's pork belly, but it's the same as bacon, lol. I love the avocado they put here. It was so much better than the traditional BLT I have ordered before. Another interest aspect is the arugula instead of lettuce. It gave the sandwich a nice peppery lunch. The bread was great too, crispy and warm, the way a BLT should be! Normally I would get a beer or their house wine, but today I got a tea. It was a ginger lemon tea. It was interesting in that it tasted like a super flat ginger ale. I decided to try their own sodas instead. The black cherry cola was very delicious and refreshing! It had so much cherry flavor, I was so surprised by it! I will continue to frequent this place when I have the chance.

STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING AND READ THIS--Portillo's at 7200 W Ray Rd in Chandler Has Just Redefined…read more"Heaven on a Plate" with the BIG BEEF DIPPED and That CHEESE SAUCE... OMG! I've had Italian Beef before. I've loved Italian Beef before. But nothing--NOTHING--prepared me for the transcendent, jaw-dropping, flavor-explosion experience that is ordering the Big Beef DIPPED at this Chandler location. If you haven't done it yet, you haven't lived. And if you've had it elsewhere but haven't had it here with their cheese sauce... well, buckle up, because you're about to discover your new favorite thing on the entire planet. From the second you walk into Portillo's on Ray Road, you can smell the magic--crisp sport peppers, rich au jus, and that unmistakable aroma of slow-roasted beef that makes your stomach growl instantly. But the real moment of truth comes when you look that server in the eye and say: "I'll take the Big Beef, DIPPED, LOADED with cheese sauce. And I mean loaded." Watch their face light up--they know. They understand. This is not just a sandwich; it's a ritual, and this location performs it with reverence. Then it arrives. Oh. My. Goodness. The bread is drenched--and I mean perfectly, gloriously drenched--in that deep, savory au jus, so every inch is saturated with rich, beefy flavor. It's not soggy; it's luscious. It's a sponge for joy. And then... the cheese sauce. Sweet, spicy, velvety, liquid gold--it's like someone took pepper jack, dreams, and a touch of heaven and whipped it into a creamy, molten ribbon that cascades over every millimeter of that dipped bread and tender, shreddy beef. The first bite is not just a meal--it's a religious experience. The crunch of the giardiniera, the pop of a sport pepper, the warm, juicy beef, the cheese sauce pulling in golden strands... it's an OMG moment so intense you might actually forget your own name for a second. You'll hear yourself making sounds you didn't know you could make. You might cry a little (happy tears). You might order a second one before you've even finished the first. And here's the thing--the Chandler location executes this with flawless, almost artistic precision. The line moves fast, the staff is smiling, and they don't skimp. They don't hold back on the beef, they don't drizzle the cheese sauce like it's an afterthought--they PILE IT ON with pride. You can tell this team lives for these moments. They're not just serving food; they're delivering pure, unadulterated happiness. Even the atmosphere feels electric--like everyone in the room knows they're about to have their day made. You'll see strangers nodding at each other in mutual respect over their sandwiches. You'll hear "OMG!" echoed across the dining room (seriously). And when you finish that Big Beef Dipped--cheese sauce glistening on every corner, not a drop of au jus left--you'll sit back with a food coma smile so wide it hurts, already plotting your next visit. Bottom line: If you are within 50 miles of 7200 W Ray Rd, you have no excuse. Go. Right now. Order the Big Beef DIPPED with EXTRA cheese sauce. Thank me later. And maybe bring a napkin--because that cheese sauce is so good, you're going to want to lick every last drop off your fingers. Five stars? Try FIVE OUT OF FIVE STARS PLUS A STANDING OVATION! This is the best sandwich I've ever had in my life, and I'm pretty sure it's illegal to be this good.

Grilled chicken is an add-on, which I paid for, so that was frustrating. I got back in line to fix it. The remake came with no chicken and no blue cheese, but I'd already put dressing on the first one and could see where someone had picked the blue cheese out. Still no chicken either time. Today I tried the drive-thru. No one was taking orders at the speaker. After about five minutes I pulled up to the window and waited another five. Nobody came out or acknowledged me, so I left. I get why other Portillo's locations have lines around the block and this one doesn't. It feels mismanaged and like the staff just doesn't care. Shorter, review-site friendly version Two bad visits in a row at this Portillo's. 1. Ordered a chopped salad with grilled chicken, no blue cheese. Got blue cheese, no chicken. The remake had no blue cheese but still no chicken, and you could tell the cheese had been picked out of the original. 2. Drive-thru today: no one at the speaker for 5 minutes. Pulled to the window, waited another 5 minutes. No response, so I left. Other Portillo's are packed for a reason. This location seems mismanaged and understaffed.

In fact, I'm pleasantly surprised by their growing menu and their willingness to better themselves by listening to Yelp feedback. You can really feel the spirit of home-cooking and the cozy atmosphere of a locally owned restaurant here. In the best way possible, service hasn't changed - it's still the same friendly owner greeting you with a smile and overall cheerful attitude. You can tell that they are actively growing as a restaurant and I can't help but want to cheer them on! Today, I had their banh mi pho with a side of Chinese donuts to dip into the pho broth. Absolutely delicious and great concept. My constructive feedback is if they can dial in their pho broth (which I already enjoy) to have more in-depth bone broth/spice flavor and less reliance on maybe the salty aspect. In this visit yesterday, I stopped in and ordered The Hang Loose and Hero. First and foremost, the store is kept very clean. I'll give them that. However, the cashier Derrius was so unhappy he should've been placed in the back to where he couldn't be seen. His customer service was terrible. When ordering our sandwich, he seemed very annoyed. Never greeted us and never made eye contact. Never understood teens who hate their job but continue to work for a job they absolutely hate doing. My sandwiches that took 32 minutes to make, mind you, there was one man waiting in store before us and two people waiting after us, were beyond terrible. The store was not busy at all. One girl on the line had to tell her coworkers in the back to help her as she was the only one making sandwiches. My sandwiches were made so terrible with little to no meat. The hang loose had less than one strip of bacon and little to no pastrami. I asked for the bread not to be toasted, so they did not heat up the meat. Like, what?!? The condiments were sloppily placed on the bread. The hero was just a mess. Plain mess with little to no meat. I know sandwich shops weigh their meat but this couldn't have been the proper weight. For these sandwiches to cost as much as they do, I'm expecting close to perfection. Needless to say, I won't be back anymore and can't recommend this place in good faith as I've given too many chances without complaining in store.
