Abbie, another gentleman and another gal educated us on what they were all about and options on how to order. The food looked so food and the employees so kind we came back after our event for lunch. We ordered build your own bowls. Everything was fresh and delic9ious! The basil chicken tasted so good! I love the watermelon radishes and the shredded roasted sweet potatoes with chili seasoning and the pickled red onions. Wow! We took our food to go and noticed our orders were not complete. I came back in twice. Luckily I had our receipt. The kindly fixed the orders. The gal who put them together apologized for "ruining our meals." I told her she didn't ruin anything. Like it says, it looks super modern, and the place is clean, neat, and tidy. :) I love how they have a lot of options for healthy food, I got to try protein bowl with ahi tuna and cauliflower rice and two sides, fire roasted veggies and mashed sweet potato! It was so good, I really liked the ahi, it's seared so cooked outside and raw inside! Yummm :) And the cauliflower rice was so satisfying, as if I was eating actual grains. Two sides were good, too! I really enjoyed the food here. It's really simple but not at the same time. Hard to explain. I got the mango chicken bowl but subbed it with grilled chicken cause I'm not a thigh person. It was really good. My only complaint is there wasn't any of the pineapple sauce mentioned in the description but maybe that's just on the thigh. My daughter got a really tasty pizza. Loved everything about this new restaurant in Ahwatukee. Their menu is diverse enough for everyone young, old, vegetarian, etc. I've tried 2 different salads. The Thai chicken was my favorite! Portion size was good for a salad but my friend that ordered the protein plate left hungry. Their pizza crust is as thin as you can get it and the toppings aren't that plentiful either. Cute hipster joint with alternative options and healthy dishes. By hipster I mean they go all out on avocado and toast for $4.50 hipster. My husband ordered that and the Mediterranean bowl which looked and tasted pretty delicious. I ordered the steak sandwich because I'm a carnivore and needed some meat in my life. J got the Chicken Bacon Club - "It was a chicken sandwich with bacon that didn't deserve the name of Club. It didn't have ham, the bacon was underdone, and the seasoning and aioli was strange. It was an ok sandwich, but I wouldn't order it again. At best, it was a CBLT - Chicken Bacon Lettuce Tomato." C got the Street Corn Pizza with Pork - He enjoyed it but they did not cut the pizza all the way through, except for 1 slice. Thankfully we have a pizza cutter. I ended up having a slice cause what I ordered was so disappointing. The pork was tender and flavorful. The pizza didn't really remind me of elote that I make at home or the elote pizza we get elsewhere. But it wasn't bad though. I got the Grass Fed Steak bowl - For some reason when I told the kid at the counter, "And a Grass Fed Steak bowl with Garlic Mash and Roasted Veg." He rang it up as the Mediterranean Bowl and then charged me for 2 sides. Thankfully I caught the mistake while I was waiting for our food. If I would have not seen it until I got home, I would have been very peeved. I can not eat olives. So the Steak Bowl....The rice & quinoa and roasted veg were flavorful. The garlic mash was alright, but definitely dry. But the steak, dear lord I feel sorry for the cow that sacrificed its life only to end up tough and overcooked. The only saving grace for that steak was the chimichurri (it was REALLY GOOD), which I got all of maybe a teaspoon total in the little to-go cup. I ate a few bites of the steak and couldn't eat anymore after the chimichurri was gone. And saving the steak for lunch was a no-go cause reheating it would only make it more leathery. I guess this is what I get when I try to order steak somewhere (other than then 2 steak places we go to). I had debated on getting one of the chicken bowls or the pork bowl. But I went with the steak. Now I wished I would have went with my first instinct. If I could give MME 2.5-2.75 stars, I would. I cant, so I'll round up to 3 stars. read more

I love the avocado they put here. It was so much better than the traditional BLT I have ordered before. Another interest aspect is the arugula instead of lettuce. It gave the sandwich a nice peppery lunch. The bread was great too, crispy and warm, the way a BLT should be! Normally I would get a beer or their house wine, but today I got a tea. I've been a fan of his since reading The Omnivore's Dilemna and while I routinely fail at following his food philosophy it's what I aspire my diet to be like. When I browsed through the restaurant menu I was even more intrigued! Berkshire pork, humanely rasied beef, free range chicken, as well as marinated tofu as protein options? A good assortment of salads, sandwiches and plates? Yes please! Side note: the beef is sourced from Creekstone Farms, the same supplier Aaron Franklin uses for his famous central Texas style brisket at Franklin BBQ. Good stuff! I've had Berkshire pork/Kurobata pork at home and at other restaurants and was excited to see it offered here so I had the pulled pork plate which comes with 2 sides (I chose a side salad and fire roasted veggies). It only took a few minutes to make our meals which was great since I was famished. Unfortunately the meat didn't really have that earthy concentrated flavor I associate heritage pork with, and was actually quite bland yet super salty. It was like they were trying to compensate for the lack of flavor in the meat by drowning it in salt. I actually ended up just eating the sides and was still hungry afterwards. I sadly felt more food satisfaction from $3's worth of salad bar items from Whole Foods where we stopped by there afterwards. I found it interesting that while the restaurant's name has the name "modern" in it, the interior is very retro, but I suppose these days what's old is new, amirite? Although I didn't enjoy the pulled pork I still want to give this restaurant a chance! Maybe they were having an off day. I went Saturday morning for breakfast with the free meal offered through eventbrite (I saw a ad on my Facebook). Anyways I figured the menu sounded good and it was close so I would try it out! The menu is really nice. Healthy with odd combos, but simple too. Oh so tasty. I had the chili eggs. So delicious. It was green chili with some shredded chicken on top of 2 eggs over medium (scrambled is the other option). Potatoes. And a slice of whole grain bread. The bread was so yummy. I loved it. All of it was perfect and the amount just enough. I finished every bite and was perfectly full. The staff was very friendly. You can tell that even after being opened for a while the people they have hired just have a good personality. The set up is really cute and casual. I actually ate alone lol. I chose the Buddah bowl, a fresh assortment of shredded carrots, red cabbage, roasted broccoli, brown and wild rice, quinoa... topped with slices of baked tofu. It was very simple yet it had intricate Asian flavors, a hint of hot spices and a light creamy dressing. It was a perfect lunch and summed up to only 600 calories. I've been here about 4x now and everything has been pretty good and fresh except for their pepperoni pizza, which I'd never order again. The pizza was luke warm, extremely salty and had black pepper all over it. Honestly might be the worst pizza I've ever had, but may have just been a one off with them. I've never seen anything more disgusting in my life. I couldn't believe someone with a conscience actually sent that to us. Wow! My girlfriends and I (3 of us) stopped in for lunch one day. We enjoyed our meals so much that we came back the very next day for lunch but to try something different. On the first day between the three of us we ordered the Chipotle Steak sandwich, the Flatiron steak salad and the Merida. They were all so good but the Merida and that lime vinaigrette stole the show. The next day the three us ordered the Basil Chicken, the Margherita pizza and I went with the choose two option. I went with the half Farmer Salad and the half Pepe pizza. Loved the Farmer salad, the Pepe pizza I couldn't get through. It was extremely salty an greasy. I had to use napkins to wipe some of the grease off of the slice. Pepperonis are naturally salted. Modern Market adds sea salt and pepper to the Pepe. You can actually see the salt sitting on top of the pepperonis. It was entirely too much for me. I would recommend the Pepe pizza, but asking them to make it without the additional salt.
