The wintergreen salad (sub shredded sweet potato for white potato) makes my world better. The mixed greens, pesto dressing and goats cheese bring big flavors without causing me to worry that I will be glutened. My first experience with Modern Market was when they had their grand opening and offered free meals to customers who RSVP'd. It was such a good idea to get their name out and I am glad they did it. I think that fondness gives them a higher star rating. The food is otherwise ok. I've had their bowls and felt hungry afterwards, the flavors in the buddha bowl and curry salmon are similar. I don't know about the meat ones. Their most redeeming menu items are the pizza because you can get a decently made pizza with more unique ingredients for around $11. My two favorite options are the kale and mushroom which they have named the Modern Mushroom and the new truffle and artichoke. The Margherita is also quite popular. The crust is thinner than a typical pan pizza but not quite NY style and the flavoring is heavy on the oregano. My qualm with the place is the limited number of vegetarian/vegan options when they claim to have plenty of healthy options for everyone. Really the vegan option is the buddha bowl and vegetarian options are pizza which isn't the healthiest. I never come here to be healthy, only when I crave pizza. read more

Finally tried the smokey chicken bowl and added pickled onions because I why not. I had high hopes because it looks SOO good online and was not disappointed. It's fantastic! Chicken is tender and not dry, the chile sweet potatoes add a nice smokey flavor, the purple cabbage slaw is not only offers a great crunch but it's gorgeous, the roasted tomatoes are perfectly sweet and soft. Oh man...I really dont like leaving negative reviews, but the management of this place needs to know how badly the service is going down here. We have been coming since they opened for both breakfast and lunch probably a minimum of 3 times a week. First of all I will say we really enjoy the food. It seems to be very fresh, great recipes and flavorful. The last two Saturdays we have come for breakfast, last time we ordered a brekkie bowl with smoked salmon ..after reminding them twice we were still waiting for the salmon, we finally got it AFTER the rest of the meal was finished. Today, we have waited over 15 min for coffee and my Jammy bowl came WITHOUT THE EGGS!!!! And...STILL....as I type...no coffee Ok, eggs finally came...they are scrambled. Not the jammy eggs... Modern Market is pretty cool let me say. I believe it's a healthier option from your regular lunch spots. The staff is great the food choices are on a global palette, but they also have some staple items you can go with. My favorite is the BBQ Chicken Pizza it's delicious. Variety of healthy options that don't beat you over the head with the price hike and you can customize most meals which is encouraged. I get a small pizza, soup and dessert which usually holds me for the whole day. They have fountain drinks and really juices and lemonade. The sitting is open and they have patio when the heat is not scorching here in Phoenix. I would recommend going, bring a friend and change up your lunch patterns you deserve it! read more

We ordered take out today through the app and I have mixed feelings about them :/ We ordered two pizzas: BBQ - way too much bbq sauce and took over the flavor of the whole pizza. Very yummy sauce but could have been lighter. Bacon Corn - my favorite thing we tried! It's cheesy and salty, the corn is sweet and adds great flavor. We added caramelized onion and I think that made it the perfect pizza! We also orde Lemongrass Pork Bowl - sounded really good on the menu but I wasn't a fan. The menu states "chili vinegar" which I assumed was a sauce? There was no sauce? Bowl was very dry and definitely needs a sauce. Hoping it was just a mistake and left out. Rice was a little mushy. Mac & Cheese side - creamy, rich & delicious! Generous helping for $2 I will definitely be back and look forward to trying their breakfast, lemonade & salads. UPDATE - We went back and tried two different items. The Banh Mi and Thai Coconut Salad. The Banh Mi is tasty but not an authentic Banh Mi you can find in Vietnamese restaurants. It needs some spice (we piled on the sriracha sauce) but some jalapeños would have been nice. The salad was good, but way too heavy on the pickled red onions. We ended up taking them off and using about 1/4 of the amount the gave us. This place has become a staple in the Glaze household, we have options, especially with a toddler. When we want a healthy option but also pizza we go with Modern Market. I tend to get the Chicken Green Chili Soup it's a good spicy soup especially on days like today. I also get a salad and make it a garden salad. I really like the concept here. The benefits of a full blown restaurant (quality, made to order food) with the convenience of order-at-the-counter fast casual. Walking in, the interior is modern and chic yet feels inviting and warm. Too many places go for that spacious, metallic, sterile feel. I really loved the warm wood beams and white stone countertops. You order at the counter and get a pager that will notify you when to come up to the pick up area. I went with half a "M'Rita" pizza and their seasonal pulled pork bahn mi sandwich. Both were really tasty and I loved the fact that I could order half a pizza or half a sandwich for half the prices - perfect for when you want to try a bit of everything. Bahn Mi could have used more of a sauce to balance out the dryer textures - some mayo, butter or aioli would have made it perfect. Some unique points are that they have craft fountain soda (yum) and calories/nutritional macros printed on your receipt. I hesitated to look at mine after demolishing half a pizza and full pulled pork sandwich... buuut it's good to have for those who are looking to stay #swole. I ordered the Roman salad which came with grilled chicken, kale, romaine, cucumbers and tomatoes. It comes with other stuff, but I omitted those items. The vegetables were fresh, looking and tasting delicious. The Chicken was overall decent, but could have been seasoned more and was slightly over cooked. The food is amazing but the staff here is totally clueless and for the price you would think that there is some level of service but rather they will just bring your food out without utensils and tell you "you're all set " without bringing you utensils or a napkin you will have to get back up and get it yourself because most likely you won't realize that a place that brings out food won't bring you your utensils. read more

I'm a fan of the pizzas which I never would have tried under normal circumstances. During their soft opening I figured I'd give it a try since it was free...I've had about 5 since then. The dough is a little heartier and the toppings are great. You can split a pizza between two people with no problem. I've additionally had sandwiches and salads and all have been outstanding. Again, the menu rotates so recommending specific items isn't really helpful. Just go and you're sure to enjoy your food. Not a knock on the place at all, it's just because everything looked so fresh & good. You can tell it's all made fresh daily and you're not going to be disappointed. I had steak and mashed potatoes and mac & cheese and all of it was fresh, home cooked, and had insane flavor. The steak was good on its own but it also had like a pesto or something on it that was bomb. They also have like in-house sodas and they were all jus as good or better than name brand. We were able to get two free meals thought their promotion on Eventbrite. This was such a great deal to come out and try their food. I must say that I was very impressed with the food, atmosphere and the staff. They have many different items on the menu and you have the ability always do half of your meal with a salad. Such a great verity of food. Ordering was super easy and you have one of the notification pucks to tell you when your food is ready to be picked up. There is plenty of parking in the shopping center so that is one less thing to worry about. The staff is super nice and attentive to the customers around them. My wife and I stopped by for the first time and we're so glad we did. Our lunch was amazing. The first thing we noticed when we walked in was how immaculately clean the place was. Emma ordered the Buddha Bowl which is tofu mixed with a lot of fresh greens. I had their half basil chicken on ciabatta bread sandwich. Wow.....talk about a great sandwich. Only complaint is that the portion is a little small. Husband had a BLTA sandwich with house made kettle chips. He said it was delicious and the chips were great.
