We tried it out. I ordered the salmon bowl. See attached picture. It tasted as though it has been sitting under a warm light. It was not cooked fresh. It was recooked and my mouth was warmer than the salmon. The edges could pass for salmon jerky. Extremely disappointed. The bowls they are using would appear as infection concerns. See attached picture. If I had a bowl like this in my cabinet it would of thrown it away. And let's talk about the cup they give you for water. It's like the cup they give you at the dentist to swish and spit. Give me a break. Will not return. There are at least 5 employees standing behind counter in open kitchen just chatting it up when they should take some pride in their craft and actually cook a fresh piece of salmon for their customer paying $13.50. read more

We tried out this location in Richardson. Not exactly what I was expecting. I was hoping for good simple garden fresh food. Well it was garden fresh but not simple. I had to look at entire menu trying to find something I might like. It's almost like "let's find a fancy name with as many ingredients as we can put in it" I went with a half chicken and bacon sandwich and green chicken chili. The sandwich was good put the chili was so spicy I was able to finish it. I tried to get it down with an extra glass of water but just couldn't do it. My wife got a half salad and or bill with tip was $22 so yeah it's a little pricey. I probably wouldn't return to this restaurant. read more

The different items they have are super quality for the price that it is, esp if you're a student at UTD! $5 off order if you pay thru the app for the first time and $3 if you show your student ID! I cant even begin to describe how fantastic this place is! This was our 1st time in and we were greeted immediately by the friendliest cashier ever! I believe her name was Bri. She was very patient and knew the answers to all my menu questions. I got the Lemongrass pulled pork protein bowl with cauliflower rice. Also an Arugala salad. I could have eaten just the Arugala and blue cheese all day long. Very fresh! The pulled pork was tender and flavored nicely. My only complaint is that it didn't have as strong of a lemongrass flavor that I would have like. I'll still order again. Can't wait to come back and explore the rest of the menu! If you're not a UTD student, I'd say it's somewhat pricey for what you get. I also didn't know about the discount, as the cashier didn't mention anything like that. It was $12.50 for the steak platter, which is one choice of protein and two sides. On the receipt, it shows how they split the price ( $8.50 for steak, $2 for each side). The steak my girlfriend got was way over cooked, with the sides having the texture similar to jerky. She couldn't finish it since it was too dry. Luckily, mine was pink in the middle and somewhat tender. Going off of that, I'd say the quality of food is not going to be consistent; however, this is just my first time so I may be wrong. The sides we had were decent. All that being said, I'm sure I'll come back with my ID next time and try something else. read more

There wasn't an option to chose how we wanted the steak cooked so when i received my food i was shocked to find the steak tasted like rubber and totally inedible. It looked like it had been sitting out for days and heated in a microwave to the point where it was impossible to chew. When I'm feeling healthy - this is my go to! Modern eatery is definitely one of my favorite place to get a salad. My favorite salad is the Thai coconut. You can either get half or full. The full was definitely a big portion. It is definitely not your typical bland salad either. A lot of flavors and makes me feel good that I'm eating something healthy. I love the concept of Mod Market, and I am glad to see that it is expanding. I have been to the Walnut Hill location as well. They have healthy food options. Is healthy always exciting? Not really, but they do help the situation with all of their options...salads, sandwiches, soups, pizza, gluten free, vegetarian..there is something for everyone, which is nice. The price is a little on the higher end for fast casual. I love the decor. Kind of a farmhouse chic feel. They even have large tables, which is good for groups or communal dining. The service is excellent. I had a small issue where my order was not correct. The manager, graciously fixed it. I am rooting for this restaurant, and will definitely support it. read more

Makes fun out of eating healthy! Saw this new place and decided to try it for a business lunch. Got myself half a Pizza and a salad. And this was after some long minutes I stared at the sophisticated menu, trying to decide which creative and unique recipe I'm going to have. Putting the order was nice and easy with friendly staff. After a short wait, the food was ready, and boy I enjoyed it. The pizza came out hot and crispy, like a good brick-over-baked pizza should be. The half-size portion was just about right, when you mix it with a salad like I did. The salad wasn't too big, but rich in toppings. Everything in it was exquisitely fresh. I've come here to eat twice before, and both times I didn't really enjoy the food too much. I love the interior, I think it's so modern and cute for taking pictures! However, I don't think that the food is all that great. This would be a great place for anyone that's looking for healthy alternatives to fast food, and the prices aren't too bad either! I ordered the Lemongrass Pork Grain Bowl the first time I went. While the description sounded like the bowl was going to be amazing and flavorful, I felt that it was missing some things. The dish overall was mediocre and felt incomplete. They did a good job in incorporating Vietnamese elements such as the lemongrass, and the pickled carrots and onions. However, I didn't really enjoy this dish. I got the Flatiron Skillet Salad the next time I went. While this was a lot better than the Lemongrass Pork Grain Bowl, this felt like it was missing something as well. Usually I'm a big fan of balsamic vinaigrette dressing, but this was particularly sour with the bleu cheese, which was not my favorite. If you are a fan of these two things, however, I would definitely recommend trying this dish! The steak is pretty delicious and I love the grape tomatoes they include. I think that the concept of this place is great, everything seems to be healthy and sustainably-farmed/raised, which I really appreciate. With that being said - the prices seem to be extremely fair for that as well. I love that they offer a full and half-portion of each dish was well. I've heard that the pizzas and soups are amazing, so next time I would try those, but so far I don't think I've LOVED anything I've tried yet. I am definitely open to trying new things the next time I come in, however. If you are looking for healthier alternatives for eating out, I would recommend to try this place! I would stray from the grain bowls, however. They don't seem to fill me up! Overall, I would give this place a 4/5 stars, and I'll be up for trying it out again! read more

I love this place. Everything that I've ordered here has been really good. The location is easy to find and convent to 75 and GBush. I highly recommend their pizzas. Any pizzas. I've had the bacon and corn, the Pepe, the bianco and the BBQ and they were all delicious. Ordering half a pizza for lunch is cheap and still filling. Cool place for lunch. Came here looking for healthy options, and they have a pretty lengthy menu of farm fresh items just for that. You start by ordering food and paying at the front "Pei-Wei style". The people were nice enough as I annoyingly, and indecisively took my time looking at the menu (it was my first time there). The prices are pretty decent, but they don't really have waiters. The have one big "community" table that could seat about 20, and then several smaller tables both inside and out on the patio. The food is where they could have gotten 5 stars from me if they didn't have key misses. I ordered the Flank Steak, which you get to order 2 additional sides that come along with it. I went with the Rosemary Sweet Potato Mash and the Greens and Balsamic side salad. The Sweet Potato Mash was actually really good, and I'm glad they used Olive Oil instead of Butter. The Side Salad is hard to mess up but was still good. The Flank steak is where the miss was for me. They had seasoned it well, but I get really annoyed when the cook slices the meat too early and bleeds all over the plate. Subsequently, it dried it out. In my opinion, they should either let it rest or serve it unsliced. Regardless of the steak mishap, I was content with the meal. I'll be coming back, but probably go with chicken instead of steak. read more

First off, I love their concept! I love how you can see how many calories you are eating on your receipt (and how many calories you need to run off later lol). I've only had their salads and pizzas, and both were delicious! Everything is so fresh, and I like how it's not too heavy on the stomach. You can also get half an order of pizza or half an order of salad which is nice! For the half order of pizza you get 3 slices. Mod Market is originally from Denver and I've been going there for years so I was stoked to see it at City Line while looking around for lunch one day! My experiences at this location have only been for take out but each time has been excellent! Their app is easy to use and they send offers quite often so you can get a meal on the cheap. It's really the way to go since the line gets long (pretty much at any Modern Market location) so if you want to take your food to go, order online! I love that they focus on sustainable ingredients and all around focus on health. On your receipt you will see the nutritional value of your meal which is something I've never seen before. I called to see what could be done to resolve this situation and reached a call center that handles all calls for the store. The woman who answered indicated that avocado is not included on the ingredient list of this bowl. Contrary to what is indicated on their online ordering system I suppose. Her solution after I asked how they'd mitigate this was to: "give you back your $2 reward that you used." Really? The bowl itself is over powered by the sauce on the chicken thighs. Since the company is unaware of what is in each dish and online is labeled incorrectly, this is a risk for anyone from an allergy perspective. Today as a pregnant lady, I questioned if I could eat here safely. I have not had that thought at most fast food burger chains. The floors and tables were dirty. If you want some yummy healthy food, go here! It's healtht food so it's a little on the pricier side so I usually spend about $10-15 when I go but I also get a drink and a cookie. FOOD: The first time I went, I got the heirloom rice bowl with chicken to-go. It looks pretty before you start mixing it up lol, but it tastes pretty good. I wish the sweet potatos were cooked a little more though. The avocado sauce was the perfect addition, I would recommend it based on the flavor and low calories, not amazing though. The second time I went, I got the basil chicken toasted sandwhich with a side of rosemary sweet potato mash and it was absolutely delicious! I'm gonna try not to only get this sandwhich from now on but it'll be hard. The flavor balance is perfect, the chicken is moist and the veggies are fresh. The bread is crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, not soggy or stale at all.
