I come to this location quite regularly and normally would rate this place 4 stars for the quality selections. Unfortunately I found out tonight that if I order togo through DoorDash, you may not get a traditional portion We ordered a side of Brussels, which turned out to be veggies. I'm amazed they even call it a side. See the attached picture to see the "hearty" helping they call a side. That is exactly how it was delivered. I ordered to go. Never been before, the place was cute and the atmosphere was nice. I ordered the streak medium rare, Fire veggies and Mac and cheese. Really good portions. The streak was perfect color little salty. The veggies were really good! The Mac and cheese was horrible! It tasted like someone poured a whole container of salt in there. How can you mess up Mac and cheese? When I told them just to let them know in case maybe the batch was bad but they said they tasted it and it was fine. I am not the person for food to go to waste and especially mac & cheese that was horrible I didn't even finish it I took one bite and that's it. Met my mother-in-law here for lunch yesterday. I like the concept of this place and the fact that their menu offerings change quite often. They have a lot of healthy options available to meet various dietary needs. I ordered half a blueberry pesto sandwich with a bag of purple potato chips. Tastes good and seems healthy but the restaurant has some issues. More than once I've been in there and there is no ice for your fountain drink. Second, their online ordering is a joke. I ordered online and still had to wait 6 minutes past my selected time, while three or four other customers came and went. 1 year update: my go-to for lunch is the Curry Tofu Bowl (originally Curry Salmon Bowl, but I sub it out with tofu, and sub rice out for extra kale) depending on my mood. This place is so addicting! Came here to try the Pepe pizza, and it was great, big pieces of pepperoni with New York style thin crust, but a lot less greasy. This location is hit or miss. Some days the food comes out exactly like you want it and is tasty. The staff is friendly and tables are cleaned off. On other days like today you wait over 15 minutes for your order on top of waiting forever in line because for some reason this location only has one cashier. It doesn't matter how busy this place is for lunch, there is always one cashier. It's very frustrating if you're trying to get in and out in an hour for lunch, and don't ask her (the cashier) for recommendations she's not interested in giving them and usually doesn't know a lot about the menu. This location seems severely understaffed on most days and you're lucky to get a table. On days like today there is no one walking around cleaning off tables and picking up dishes. I usually put my dishes up before leaving, but it would be nice to have tables wiped off. I am a huge fan on the Plano location and can only hope this location gets more staff and better practices to make it consistent with their other locations. I am so glad I discovered this place! The restaurant itself is so hip and modern (duh) that it's almost surprising they sell sandwiches. The food was yummy, and nutrition facts are places on the receipt (how cool is that?) I definitely feel less guilty eating here while keeping a strict diet! But just like all healthy food, it is more pricey. Luckily, you can get $3 off using a student discount, and if you download their app, you get $3 off your first meal. If you are looking for fresh ingredients and great flavors this is the place. I like that they do use fresh vegetables and spices. It really makes your meal more delicious. Each item also lists the calories in it if you are trying to keep track. They do have a couple brews on tap as well. The inside is keeping up with the trend of using lots of wood. I'm for it. While it's not the biggest space they do have a lot of seating and offer some outside as well. Gender neutral bathrooms are super clean here. My favorite part is they use fresh jalapeños. I had the home style plate with steak, Mac and cheese, and mashed potatoes. The steak was cook perfect. The mashed potatoes had such a good garlic flavor and I wanted to lick my plate for the remaining cheese. The lemon herb salsa verde was so flavorful you would want to drink it. My sister had the blueberry pesto sandwich. It was messy but so satisfying, amazing flavor developed in the dish. What's really cool is that your receipt has the nutrition facts on it. Checked out Modern Market for lunch today with a friend. While the food was good, healthy and quiet filling. We both were concerned with why MyFitnessPal had different calorie, nutritional, etc... numbers for their menu verses what the actual menu said. Had Modern Market made some modifications to the meals to make them less then what MyFitnessPal has programes in it? Who knows. Also, just a little tidbit to pick at, but while there I wanted an iced tea. Well, the labels weren't on the containers. So I couldn't identify, right away what tea was what. It wasn't until I went back for a refill when I discovered the labels were placed off to the side away from the tea containers, where no one would ever notice them. Just a little suggestion... it could possibly help to have the menus in a more convenient location for those waiting in line. A place where they would be noticeable and convenient. Several customers kept trying to hunt down copies of the menu while they waited, only to discover you had to go to the front of the line to find a menu. Overall, the experience was good, the food was good and the service was good. Definitely will be spreading the word about this place. It's nice to have a healthy restaurant option with a excellent choice of food options to pick from. read more

The restaurant is the new concept order and pay, then food brought to your table. The food was okay although my salad was way overdressed and very strong taste of vinegar. The ingredients were good and a shame I couldn't enjoy. The big disappointment was the cleanliness of the restaurant. They were not busy we arrived just after 11:00. The self serve area (drinks and napkins) was filthy. Obviously not cleaned from night before. The napkin holder was empty, the straw container was jammed. Nothing had been wiped down including the glass doors. It appeared there was no rush to get the place cleaned up before the noon rush. As discussed in my countless other reviews, I am now a boring suburbanite since moving from the warm embrace of East Dallas to the chilly white picket fenced standofishness of Richardson. Thankfully, my move coincided with the planned CityLine project, so a lot of the good healthy, and just plain alternative good stuff about my hippie neighborhood was going to make a triumphant return to my life. Case in point: Modern Market. Being a vegetarian/ethical eating family in Texas can suck sometimes. You can only have so many salads or plain pastas at work events before you get the feeling that maybe Cali or Vermont is better suited for you. Luckily, Modern Market has a metric ton of great vegetarian and vegan options, across their entree, pizza, and sides sections of their straightforward menu. The tofu is wonderfully firm and drained of a lot of water, which is something a lot of places struggle with. And toss some sriracha on that piece, and you've got an entree fit for a hipster king. A side of potato mash and a greens salad and you'll wonder if you've time traveled to a future land where the vegan revolution succeeded. Though, if you believe that, you might be kind of dumb, because time travel technology hasn't been invented yet. Anyways, they also keep a few local craft beers on tap to drown down your healthy food, all served by friendly tattooed hippies you might get confused for Braindead Brewing's servers. Living in suburbia sucks sometimes, but having a Mod Market within walking distance is pretty god damn dope. read more

Let me start by saying that I really enjoyed the food from this place and I was so excited that they open close to my home. Unfortunately I'm two for two on this location. The first time I went I was so excited because I love their Kombucha, Plus they are one of the only restaurants that carry it in this area. I show up and order my kombucha, and guess what they were out. Today I was craving something healthy and of course my kombucha. I drive-by and see the open sign on so I am like "Yes", I walk in only to be greeted by the guy in the front who says "sorry sir we are closed". I didn't say anything about the sign but I asked what time they closed, and he said 930. I look down at my phone and it's 9:32. Really? You couldn't go the extra mile to make a customer happy. On a positive note, everything look really clean and put up, they were ready to go home. Thankfully smash burger was open and they saved the day. Of course it wasn't the healthy option I was looking for. I like this place enough then I will give this location another try. Let's hope for the best. read more

One of my favorite healthy DFW sandwich/lunch date locations. It's more casual than a brunch place, but has the same quality. My favorite to get their are their brisket and sweet potatoes. Their different juice lemonades are also worth trying. They have cucumber mint, carrot and regular lemonade. Cucumber mint and carrot are definitely as good as whiskey cake's juices. read more

Pricey and not that tasty. I remember when this place first opened, I would come here a lot.Tried most of their menu items. I really like the flat iron salad (the salad ingredients change throughout the year). However, mainly came for breakfast. They had the apple pear compote waffles that I really enjoyed (that is off the menu now). The dessert pizza was also good but the ingredients would change through out the year as well (I think this is removed from the menu as well). Today, I got the BBQ pizza and the "banh mi" sandwich. The BBQ pizza had great flavor. The texture of the pizza was not good though. The dough is thin and stale. Similar to the banh mi's bread. It was stale. The banh mi is not a typical banh mi. It had only a hint of banh mi flavor. I could see their attempt. The pulled pork is bland but the texture is good. The aioli is very light and mimics vietnamese mayo but you can't really taste it until the taste of stale bread is out of your mouth. The vegetables were also lacking flavor. The "pickled" carrots was not acidic enough to bring the sweetness you get from a banh mi. All I taste is water downed carrots. Overall the flavor was flat and not balanced. I had to put hoison sauce to make it taste more like a banh mi. If you crave a banh mi and not close to an authentic place, I suggest going to Which Wich. At least the size of their sandwich and flavor is way stronger for the price. Not only that but Which Wich's made it their own by fusing it with American flavors. I hope in the future when Modern Market decides to make an authentic dish, they would consult with an expert and put "[AUTHENTIC DISH NAME] inspired" in the name instead of the actual name. read more

We stopped Here for lunch a couple of weeks ago. We have tried most of the restaurants in the center. We saw the good Yelp comments and thought it would be worth a try. We must have caught them on a REALLY bad day. Since it was our first time we took a few minutes to look over the menu ahead of the cashier. Once we figured it out we approached the gal at the register. Maybe it was her first day or she had not been trained yet. In any case she told us she could not take our order and would have to wait until the other cashier came back. She did know when that would be. What?? We passed and went to Fish Grill where we know the service is excellent. I always give a new place a break during their start up but this gal was rude and untrained. If she was on the front line at lunch time and she greeted all customers like she did my wife and I then someone has dropped the ball. We like this place a lot. We probably stop by once a week and it's been good. I would like more choices, but you can't have it all. Some of my favorites are the Tender Belly BLT+A and the Chipotle Steak sandwiches as well as the Bacon Corn Pizza. If you're looking for a filling meal, you should choose a Pizza. The people at the ordering counter are super nice. Ty is the best, though all of them are great. I've tried quite a bit on the menu. The Eggplant Goat sandwich is pretty tasty, but there's no meat in it and it's not as satisfying. Be aware that the Pepe pizza is basically a pepperoni pizza and although it's good for a pepperoni pizza, it's just that. The first time we came, if I'm not mistaken, they had a Yelp check-in offer for a free coke, so we tried all of their fountain drinks. They're very good as they're all made with cane sugar that gives it the extra crisp taste. The ginger ale and root beer are my favorites. Prices are a little higher than what I would expect to pay for a comparable meal, but it's not wildly out of the league. The decor and cleanliness of the place is top-notch. One of the better places to eat in City Line. read more
