Lauren is more than my nail tech....she's become my close friend and she is the sweetest. She owns both Modern and Jolie Boutique salon and does amazing work. Her attention to detail and her skills are next level good. You're stuck with me Modern Nails!!

Came here for the very first time this morning and I am obsessed! My nails have never looked and felt so good. I tried the Gel X for the very first time and I will be sticking with it. Lauren did an amazing job. Everyone in there is very friendly. Lauren explained the whole process to me and made me feel very comfortable. The salon is very clean and beautiful. Will definitely be coming here to get my nails done :)

This is the BEST nail salon in Charlotte. The quality of the work and skill set of the technicians is absolutely NEXT LEVEL. View their Instagram to see for yourself (it's like Pinterest inspo pics except they are the ones doing the phenomenal work). The entire team is kind, personable and just great at what they do. I'd like to specifically point out the owner, Lauren. Her work speaks for itself and is outstanding. But who she is as a person is why I will forever give them my business! Her kindness, work ethic, big heart, and attention to detail is like no other. This is a woman owned business that she built from the ground up, so when you give your business to Modern Nails you know you are really contributing to a dream she built all on her own. I've been coming here for five years and Lauren and her team has been by my side for life's ups and downs (everything from babies, grief, new jobs, lost jobs, breakups, new love, you name it)...so when I come here it's a treat for my nails and for my soul. Also book ahead on Vagaro... If you want the best, then this is where you go.
I love Modern Nails. I have been going here for almost 2 years now and will not go anywhere else! Lauren (the owner) is the best nail tech I have ever had. She is so personable, friendly, and always makes me feel right at home in her salon. The remodeled salon is very modern (fitting the name) but still girly and fun! My nails last 4 weeks before needing a fill. I have never had disappointing nails. I would recommend this nail salon to anyone looking for the best spot in charlotte :)
I moved to Charlotte a year ago, and during this year, I have always gone back to where I used to live to go get my nails done due to bad luck trying to find a nail salon in Charlotte. I really enjoyed my experience with Modern Nails and will definitely go back. My nails are flawless. The shape, color, and length are perfect.
Let me tell you... if you're looking for a new nail salon this should be it. You will not be disappointed! They are all so kind and do such a fantastic job. I've never left feeling upset or not in love with my nails. They are all great but LAUREN (the owner) is my nail tech and she does such a great job every time! Today I went and she exceeded my expectations once again.
Avoid this shop if owner is not present especially for SN I brought my wife to do an SNS (which she's been doing for years now) and she had to argue with the manicurist on how she wants it done. She even showed pictures and they still argued with her. Even after she was vocal about it they still argued with her. Then her manicurist started to criticize her request with other manicurists. Body language says all even when spoken in another language. Plus it helps to have an instant translator app on your phone to figure out what they were saying. Sadly the ambiance changed at this shop once the owner left and the attitudes came out along with the rude comments amongst themselves. I found the shop for my wife and she wasn't happy with the end result. As a fellow manager and ex business owner, I think the owner should be aware how rude her staff become and how little customer service skills they display once she has left her shop. And sadly once my wife was vocal about her dislike, the manicurist displayed her anger in how she was doing her work. This is unacceptable no matter what the customer asks for. And it all started because my wife likes her SNS done a bit thinner. But the manicurist (and fellow manicurists) all said it was imposible. Then went to complain and criticize in another language. Very unprofessional display in my personal opinion and my wife felt very judged by them. I hope the owner addresses this and reminds the staff that the customer dictates how they want the service. I would suggest to avoid this shop if the owner is not present. I have included the picture my wife showed them along with the work they did. Granted this is after my wife had to extensively argue with them to get it as close as she like them. *** Update *** I stand corrected, the owner is just as rude (see her response) and lacks customer service skills like her employees. Definitely avoid this location.
As my bf was getting his haircut at Arrow across the street (amazing gift certificate idea ladies!), I stopped in to fix my SNS nails after a fancy Los Angeles salon screwed up my manicure. It's only day one (and thus no chips- crossing fingers!), but I'm stunned at the meticulous detail that Yen put in my nails. The preparation, the application, the finishing touches...... all were done with such skilled dexterity. I finally found my go-to place in Charlotte. She also diagnosed WHY my previous SNS nails (from Los Angeles) didn't last even 5 days and made sure I didn't face the same issue again. Great place! Super super friendly! ----- Update. My last set of powder nails endured 5xweek powerlifting and 2 days of bathroom demolition work. Not a single chip. Updated to show my Mardi Gras nails that yen smoked. I will never go to another place again

My friend and I came into town for CIAA from Atlanta (that already should tell you we had high hopes for our hands & feet) oh boy Modern Nails did not fail to disappoint. They are a rushed service, very rough with you & has absolutely no interest in fair business practices. First off they have a sign posted that full sets START at $35, I was charged $45 for a basic ass manicure, super uneven and bumpy. And a half ass $55 pedicure that left me with sore nail beds. Avoid this place like the plague. Once it came time to pay Vincent and an older woman took it upon themselves to cut me off when questioning about pricing and giggled as they haggled on how much they would charge me. $95 for this raggedy ass job. Yeah. No.

First time here! My friend found this spot by word of mouth. We had a fun time here! Super cool spot. Love the interior! Service was spot free n. All the girls are very friendly! Love the color selection. We both got SNS on our hands. And my friend got a gel pedi and I got a regular pedi with the wax super luxurious! Can't wait for a return trip! Love coming here! Stumbled upon this place a few months ago and popped in for a mani/pedir now I can't stop coming back! Wen is absolutely amazing and her memory is impeccable - always knows what colors/designs I've previously gotten. I love that they have a loyalty card so every time you visit you get a stamp, 10 stamps = $10 off your next visit. I believe you get double stamps if you pay cash! Everyone is extremely friendly and helpful. The salon is clean - they have each guest wash their hands upon arrival. I've brought my mom back with me and she had a great experience as well! read more

I just left here with THREE bleeding cuticles. My nail tech actually had to file my blood out of my dip powder manicure. When I called back in once I got to my car and realized how bad my fingers hurt and look, the owner was unwilling to even hear my concerns, claiming "Accidents happen," and "Cuticles get dry this time of year," and wouldn't even attempt to make it right. As a professional massage therapist, my hands are my livelihood and I take excellent care of them with professional manicures every 2 weeks, oil and lotion daily, etc.. I've never had such a traumatizing experience at a nail salon and to anyone reading, please take your health seriously and don't risk it here. read more

The highlight of my Friday afternoons every 2-3 weeks are to come get my nails done by the queen herself Linda. I think the pictures speak for themselves but if you need more convincing, I can attest that she is incredibly meticulous, creative, precise, not to mention on top of every client who calls in or walks through the door when the receptionist is out. She runs the show and makes multitasking look like it's nothing. Even more, she is so kind and I love our silly and sincere conversations. Linda is the kind of tech you want to support. I've continued to be a fan of this salon for years! I don't live in the Charlotte area anymore, but I make a point to visit the salon every time I'm in the area. I have found the quality of the service and products used here is above what I experience elsewhere. I've recently switched to SNS and I love how they are done. I'm going on 4 weeks since my visit and other than being grown out, they look flawless! read more

I recommend Modern Nails to everyone! Such a great, clean and friendly salon. I get my nails done every two-ish weeks, and love nail art. I used to have to get my nails done every time I travelled because no one in Charlotte can do nail art. Then I met Lauren! She is amazing and can do any nail art I dream of AND at a reasonable price. I love the ability to book my appointment ahead of time so there is no wait and I can get in and out. Every pedicure I've had is amazing, too. I know and can trust that when I get my nails done, it's going to be beautiful. I get so many compliments on my nails. So happy to have Lauren and her team in Charlotte! read more

I moved to Charlotte a year ago, when my friend recommended Lauren at this Salon. I went once and the rest is history. Lauren is the best nail tech I have ever had!! I will show her what I want, and she more than delivers every time. I never leave unsatisfied!! Highly recommend! read more

Not gonna lie. I was scared going into this because I've never been to a place in charlotte that I love the first go around. However, I love this place. It's small but the ladies there get the damn job done. I walked in without an appointment. No problem. I was asked to pick a color and that someone would help soon. 10 minutes later, I sat down. Yen Asked me what I wanted. I showed a photo, she said, "no problem." She did exactly what I asked. LOVED MY NAILS. This is my go to. TIPS ARE CASH ONLY. Don't make the mistake I did. Although, I used cash app to send her the money, but good to know. read more

Got a gel manicure and regular pedicure yesterday, $65 total which is fair. There wasn't a menu online or in the salon that I could find so it was a little less transparent than I would like but they did a great job with my hands and feet! I'll probably make this my new regular spot read more

Do Lauren and Mila not do online booking? I did go to Vagaro, but Lauren was not an option when I tried to book a pedicure. There were 4 or 5 other ladies that I could choose, but not Lauren or Mila. I guess she doesn't do pedicures?

Do they clean up the cuticles when you are getting a Polygel Fullset? I wouldn't mind paying $15 for a regular manicure but it's pointless if they're going to do the same thing before they start the full set.
They'll push the area back but won't do all the cutting and stuff like they do for a gel mani
