After a couple of bad experiences at another place, my friend carefully recommended Modern Nails. I didn't want to write a review until I've visited few times and I think I've found my nail spot. Sadly it's further than the first place I wanted to like, but I definitely feel welcome and liked here. My first time was with Mai and the appointment was made through my friend and she did an excellent job. Most recently I went and my nail technician was Tiny and WOW, I am in LOVE with my nails at the moment so I am writing this review to express how I feel. As soon as you walk-in you're greeted by the receptionist, who is extremely friendly and all the staff are very welcoming-- offering a hello when you lock eyes. So far, all the technicians have been very careful and gentle. I think I have a bit of PTSD from the previous place so it really makes me nervous when the techs start shaving off the gel but they have been very gentle but precise. Very sad, first time experience! Went in a little before 9pm didn't leave til after 1am almost 2. Didn't get my design I requested, have white French paint smeared a bit on my French nail.. Also pregnant and had to wait so long. They took people in between doing my nails so I had no choice but to wait. I've never had such a terrible experience at a nail salon in my life. I'm saddened by this. 2 techs were there that both worked on my nails. Tim and Ryan I think were their names. They were short staffed I get it, but atleast be upfront and honest about the wait time and give the service that's paid for. Everything for me felt rushed when it came to working on me. I loved my experience at Modern Nails! It was my first time trying this nail salon out and I was quite impressed. I booked my appointment online and it was completely hassle free. Upon walking in, I was greeted warmly and checked in for my appointment. The front desk confirmed the services I booked for the day and also took the time to show me the different nail polishes they offered. I waited maybe 10 minutes before I was led to my nail tech's desk. I asked for my gel nails to be taken off and for a regular manicure with regular polish. I asked for short square nails and a sheer pink polish. I wanted a "clean girl" nail look and came out the salon with exactly what I wanted in mind! I have lived in this town for about 20 yrs and have gone to numerous nail salons, MODERN NAILS is by far the best. I got there early and was waiting in my car when this very pleasant lady and gentlemen beckoned me to come in. I was greeted with the biggest smiles and friendly personality. They welcomed me as if I were coming to their home for dinner. I was there for a gel fill ( my first time, as I have been getting acrylic). Mai, the owner explained why gel was better and then asked if the pedicurist Timmy, could do my pedicure first. Well, Timmy is a delight and I was thrilled that he corrected all my toe nails from the former nail tech, which were all crooked. He was very gentle and gave a fabulous pedicure. I recommend him highly. Now, on to the nails...Mai, the owner did my nails. Wow!. The salon is very quiet ( as it should be for relaxation), no loud "jungle music". Everyone in the shop is very pleasant and, although their day was just starting, had big smiles and were all very friendly. My nails NEVER looked better. So, ladies, if your looking for a new salon, want to switch nail techs, or maybe are new to the area, you must try MODERN NAILS. I love coming to Modern Nails on Eastern. I have been a client and a friend of this salon for 10 years!! Since they first opened in my neighborhood. And, even tho I have moved several times in that time, no matter how far I was, I always came back. Always able to get done whatever design I wanted, and having it look great!! And, lasts for me 3 weeks!!! I usually go to Nu, but Mai was my first and she takes care of me sometimes still. Also, Tiny, Vanessa and Van have done great, too! I come for pedicures, too. We were running about 10 minutes late so i called to notify the salon, the kind lady on the phone gladly moved my 1pm appt to 1:15. I have been coming to this salon for awhile now and it is always clean and staff are very professional every time. Tim did my pedicure today and suggested an upgrade to the green tea pedicure. This nail salon was recommended to me by a colleague, and I needed to get my nails done immediately due to it looking subpar. Although my technician did a wonderful job trimming my cuticles and cutting my nails, the removal of the previous gel coating was a bit too rough and abrasive, and it made the skin under my cuticles bleed slightly, so it was rather unpleasant of a feeling. I will say that they were able to squeeze me in for my Mani pedi in which I needed very much in such a short time frame. read more

2nd time getting a pedicure here, 3rd visit overall. 1st time I came I got my PROM nails done in 2019. I didn't have a picture then but I decided to come back since it was clean and they were kind. Justin has done my pedicure both times, he's gentle but thorough. He works well and gets straight to it, doesn't talk often while he works which makes him focused - even when speaking to a coworker. I chose cucumber which smelled so good. His massage is by far the best from a pedicure I've ever had, he got the hot towel and even wiped between the toes! The ONLY slight bad is that they do not present the regular colors at the front, making you wanna choose the gels. Otherwise really good service and the overall total was after I got GEL toe removal and a GEL pedicure: $ 63 after tip. Definitely working me towards being a more recurrent customer. Regular pedi is available but you have to be stern on the regular polish, they prefer gel since it lasts and looks nicer for longer! read more

This place was beautiful and clean. The technicians were professional, and my nails looked great!

This took 2 hours. I was bleeding while he was filing my nails with the drill after completing cutting up my cuticle with it. I then had to ask to reshape as they were uneven and messy. He told me no "everyone does it different" He then sent me to another tech to do the design and she tried to fix the shape as much as she could. The design is cute (from roota) but I paid $100 for my nails to be uneven and lumpy. Acrylic stuck to my cuticle and underneath my nail. I can't even get them fixed right away bc of how sensitive my cuticles are. I have reached out and been kind but they refuse to refund my service even after seeing photos. Very disappointing because I went to this salon for 2 years straight with a nail tech that is no longer working there. Will NEVER be going back. I work in the beauty industry and don't usually complain but this was too awful not to. read more

I went to get my nails done and a pedicure. The lady Vanessa that did my nails put acrylic on top of my nails. No tips were used. The acrylic was so think and uneven. I kept explaining to her this is not what I asked for. I asked for a full set not just acrylic on my finger tips. When I checked out I told the check out lady the issues. They said they would have another nail tech help me and fix it. Which Jasmine did an amazing job. However, I ended up paying $122.00 for what? A regular pedicure, my nails that were not even a full set and then had to pay again for someone to fix my nails. They also charged me supplies that were used. I will NEVER go here again. I stumbled upon Modern Nails on yelp. I was in need of a pedicure on a Sunday morning and Modern Nails is one of the only salons open at 10 am. I called before coming in and asked if they had time for a pedicure. The lady that answered told me to come on down and they could see me right away. Modern Nails is located off of Eastern and Richmar in the same plaza as Grimaldi's, Cafe Rio, and Greens and Proteins. It's easily accessible and there is plenty of parking. I was greeted right away when I walked in and told to pick my color. I was in a rush so I opted for a basic pedicure. Tina walked me over to a chair and I sat ready to be pampered. She asked me how the water was, and it was slightly hotter than I preferred, so she happily adjusted the temperature. It was a very detailed pedicure and Tina gave me an amazing massage and really took care of me and made sure everything was to my satisfaction. I also noticed that they are open til 11 pm Monday to Friday which is good to know since a lot of places close at 7 pm. I would definitely return and ask for Tina again. 5 stars for service and the late hours. read more
