My new auto repair shop is fantastic!! I moved to Wyoming and needed a new auto shop to maintain my 19 year old van. They were the closest shop as I live in very rural northeastern Wyoming. I made an appointment and Ashley, I apologize if I remember her name wrong, welcomed me. I'm handicapped and too short to get into my sister-in-law's truck as I forgot my portable step. Ashley brought out a tire rim they used for a step stool and it worked perfectly! She even let us take it with us so we could do errands while they did maintenance on the van. She called and gave me an update on the work and also called to let me know they were done. This shop is the best! They've helped my sister-in-law with two issues on her truck at the last minute and still got her in and diagnosed the problem. read more

Highly DONT recommend. He's discriminating my family and said " he wont work on our truck after other shops touch it" ( nobody has touched our truck since we bought it) he's always been very rude to my family. wish I could give him a 0 star read more

I'm not sure anyone has had a worse roadtrip than I did in December. Starting with a bad alternator and ending with what I would generously call a 'crash' anything that could go wrong with my truck seemed to. Alan at Modern Repair was and still is the very best mechanic I think I have ever met. I rolled in on Saturday with no clear diagnosis of a problem and he made room for me right then, had the problem found and then called around to get me the part (new alternator) as soon as possible. Friendly and trustworthy, he explained what was going to happen, how long it would take, and how long it would cost. When I came back the next day after having my work done because I had been in a crash, Alan and his team made time to get my truck road-worthy again including making me a whole new driver's window out of plexiglass. I drove that damn thing back from Spearfish to San Francisco (28 hours taking into account weather problems) because I had faith in the work he had done on it. If he told me it would run - it would. Hell, the damn thing still does. If you're looking for a repair shop Modern Repair is exactly where you want to be. I'm considering driving back out this summer for my oil change. read more

Over the past few months I've had a need to replace several sets of tires (4), wheels (2), and even a complete overhaul of the destroyed drivetrain on an old Excursion (which dropped onto the highway while traveling at 80mph.) They even picked up a non-starting John Deere tractor and serviced it for me because "winter was coming" and I hadn't had time to handle it myself.) We are visiting the Spearfish area from out of state. Oe Escalade's wheel bearing went out and we needed brakes as well. Alan helped us that night even though it was almost close and had us back on the road the very next morning. As someone from out of state I was worried we would have to pay "extra" however we did not and even better the price Alan quoted came in cheaper when we picked it up. Alan was helpful from the second we showed up and saved us from a potentially awful situation. He promptly diagnosed what was wrong with our Jeep Liberty and called multiple dealers to source the right part. He made sure the part would arrive at 8am the following morning and he and his sweet dog Roxy were indeed there at 8am. He worked quickly and got us back on the road in an hour and a half to complete our cross country trip from New York to California. Can't say enough about the help given and the over the top customer service! Pulling a travel trailer and the tire went flat. Got on yelp and found this place. They went over and above what I have ever experienced. He ended up having to straighten my axle that was bent in three places, put on two new tires and a spare. He stayed in constant communication with me. He gave me his personal cell phone and the repairs were done in a very timely manner. He also helped direct us to someone who could replace my husband's motorcycle tire! He called several days after I returned to Kansas to see how the tires were working out! If he was closer he would have all of our business all of the time! Honest, hard working and dedicated to quality, what more could you want! read more

We had a tire blow out on Hwy 212, a hundred miles away, and limped in on a donut spare five minutes before closing time. Our tire size was unusual but they had a good used one on hand and stayed open to put it on for us at a very reasonable price. Such nice guys, too. read more

My wife, who was traveling in a small RV with one other woman, 1500 miles from home, in the winter, on a Sunday when this was the only shop open, was refused service due to a personal difference of opinion on a topic having nothing to do with the Van or customer transaction in any way. The severity of the repairs was embellished (or just completely made up). My wife tells me she began to cry, offered a hug and begged with tears in her eyes for human to human understanding and kindness regardless of political or religious beliefs. It's my understanding that as my wife was crying he ignored her and began taking other office calls. Unbelievable! Please consider choosing a different shop. If it's a Sunday and you're stranded in the snow, I'm very sorry. read more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. The owner lied about what was wrong with my vehicle, and he refused to help me with my repair due to "where I was driving to". I was on the road from California, myself and another woman, driving to deliver donated supplies to an Indian Reservation in North Dakota in support of the peaceful water protection movement. The owner, Alan, told us our vehicle was unsafe to drive, that he was the only one in town that day who could fix it, and that he would not help us. I tried to ask him, basically beg, to have some humanity and put aside any perceived judgement or difference of opinion or prayer method, and to help two women from being stranded with an unsafe vehicle. He flat-out refused, while his father and son sat watching. While I cried in front of him, he started answering calls and ignoring me. I drive around the nation for my job, have been to dozens of mechanics, and have never experienced such bigotry, hatred, and discrimination from any man. Worst experience ever in this context. Shame on you, Alan. read more

On and adventure with my elderly mother and my car starts making this horrible sound!!!!!! I was referred to modern repair, ( thank goodness) these people are awesome!!!! What I thought would be a quick fix turned out to be a lot more! But Alan and his staff really did care if we made it home and did all the repairs for us. Not only did they do the repairs , but offered to find us a rental car and even pick up some lunch for us. The rates are really reasonable as well. If your young daughter was traveling far from home......and was refused service due to the humanitarian service they were there to participate in.......would you recommend this business to someone you care about and love...??? Recently made an appointment for my wifes suv at this shop. Received a courtesy call reminding me of the appointment one day prior to dropping off the vehicle. Received a message before noon that the work had been completed and that the vehicle was ready to pick up. How pleasantly surprised we were to find that the total bill was considerably lower then the estimated price. So nice to know that someone in the automotive repair business still works hard, is courteous, knowledgeable, professional and doesn't take advantage of their customers.
