I brought my 2016 CRV to have the AC fixed and apparently the "best" mechanic they have couldn't figure out what was wrong. They spent over a week diagnosing it, replaced a sensor that wasn't needed and then told me there was probably rodent damage behind the dashboard and that I would need to go to the dealer. They were going to charge me several hours of labor, but after arguing with the manager, he conceded and didn't charge me. I immediately took the car to another garage less than a mile away, and they diagnosed the problem in less than an hour. They ordered the parts needed and gave me a loaner car for the weekend since it was before the 4th of July holiday. I got the car back on July 6th, and the AC works great. Modern Tire was not a good choice to do AC work. read more

My husband and I have been coming here for 4 years. The staff are extremely honest and look out for their customers. I had a major problem with my car that they discovered and advised me to contact the dealership. It in fact was covered under my warranty. Went here for an oil change and tire rotation with a coupon. Very nice and clean place. Service bays are visible to the customers. The staff is friendly and courteous. They serviced my car quickly and best of all there was no up-selling involved. They pointed out an issue but when I said I would take care of it myself they were fine with it. Many places try to pressure you to have other services or spend extra money but they seem pretty honest and straightforward here. read more

I would give them 4 stars, except... 1. They were going to charge us $39.99 for inspecting the breaks, and the worst part is that no one disclosed that to us beforehand. .... So, make sure you ASK BEFORE HAND if there is an inspection charge if you end up not getting the work done there. 2. They are about 35% ($100) overpriced compared to another estimate we received. 3. As I was waiting, I overheard another customer that seemed to be easily offered a discount. This may have been gender bias. Kudos however for... 1. Them giving a full quote, including taxes... many shops don't do this. Also, we were accomadated with 10% off (but we had to push for this). 2. They were able to get us in relativity quickly. Also, they have a clean and comfortable waiting room with free coffee. read more

As I walked into Modern Tire I was met with a smile from Lisa. She was beyond helpful with all my needs. My tires were rotated and during that idle time Lisa taught me about what to look for in a tire and how to determine a good choice for my daughters car. As I was waiting, multiple customers walked through her doors and she greeted each one by their first name. I was truly impressed. She made everyone feel important and met all their needs and answered each question with precise information. I enjoyed being in her presence. I had brake fluid replaced. They tried to overcharge me until I brought the overcharge to their attention! I also had some front end noise that I asked them to diagnose. I was given an $1100+ estimate for repair. This was after I directly questioned the tech -in front of the counter man. I received a second opinion at another shop and was told I had loose shocks... to the tune of $150 fix. Steer clear of this place! read more

Lisa is dishonest. She will show you dirty fluid that she saves from another car and say its yours. She saves a lot of things that are not really coming from your car. I was a technician at this shop and felt so bad for customers. We were told to do certain things so that the customer needed more work or would have to come back. read more

We were having some issues with my son's Mercedes and our usual guy had retired. I've had my oil changed here many times and called them as one of our quotes. They were much lower than other prices I was getting. First he just needed tires, then other things needed fixing and it turned in to a bigger issue (which we had been anticipating due to some noticeable issues with performance). The staff here was amazing, so helpful, upfront and so reasonable in their charges, especially given some of the other quotes for working on a vehicle like this one. They fixed everything, keeping us informed along they way and they were very accommodating with our timeline. It's nice to see that there are auto places you can trust. I had just done all the pads, rotors and calipers on my car. Took it for a drive on city streets and all seemed fine. Then hit 95 and hit stop and go traffic and a few hard stops. Got off the freeway and smoke was pouring out of the left rear wheel. I was 10 minutes from here and called at about 3:45pm and asked if I could bring it over to have it looked at. I was pretty freaked out as I never had that happen. They told me to come over and got me right in. While the mechanic was inspecting it, I had a great conversation with staff, in their clean and accomodating waiting area. Super friendly people! In the end I had put too much anti squeek on the rotor which was burning off. $19 for the inspection and I was told I did a good job on the brakes otherwise. I wouldn't hesitate to come back her for repairs. Clean shop, waiting area, friendly staff and on point pricing. And the fact they got me in right away prior to closing was awesome! Normally these guys are great. Have been going there for years for two of my vehicles. However, I dropped my vehicle off 3pm on a Monday, to be told I need my AC fan motor replaced and it would take 3 hours of labor, and that due to time of day I would need to leave it overnight. That was no issue for me as I figured it would be taken care of first thing in morning when they open at 7am. Come Tuesday 1pm (had to call out of work) I still had not heard from them, so I called. I was immediately put on hold only to be told, "they had the part, but it is not ready and they will call when it is" not sure what that meant. Fast forward another five hours I finally get a message on my machine at 5:50pm that my car is finally ready but they close at 6pm. Thankfully I live minutes down the road, however, I'm not pleased with the lack of communication, as I had to call and get any update, and a supposedly 3 hour job ended up taking a day and half. I have given A LOT of money to this business for both my vehicles. I think they could do a bit better in taking care of their loyal customers. read more

Over the last year they've been out-and-out dishonest with me and my Wife. When I had my oil changed a year ago I was told I needed a new serpentine belt, several times by these guys - I never got one. Turns out, my serpentine belt is fine, plenty of time to go with it. Regarding my Wife's car, She was told she needed two wheel bearings replaced - we went elsewhere and were told that she only needed one, and the other one was fine. I originally liked this place, but after these incidents, I am disappointed to see they're just another in a long line of disreputable car repair establishments. After hearing them tell another customer the same thing, I mentioned that they should change their website to reflect this walk-in only policy. I had taken my car here a couple of times without any issues, but the last time I took it here, they were terrible. It was only supposed to take them a couple of days to fix my car, but it ended up taking them closer to a week. They never called to tell me that my car was going to be late, I had to call them. They would keep telling me just one more day and then the next day it wouldn't be done. They would tell me they were really busy and had to work on other people's cars instead on mine. I had also told them when I first brought it there that I didn't have another means of transportation, so it was very inconvenient to not have a car for an entire week. The price seemed reasonable and the work eventually got done, but I would never take my car there again. read more

These guys clearly don't know what they're doing. Two days before Christmas I paid them $1600 to fix my car. When I go to pick it up my car it wouldn't start this has never happened to me with this car before. Turns out they messed up a wire on my starter quick fix no problem. After about a week my original problem came back again only worse. I took it back a second time to them. This time I was told they repaired a leak in my vacuum hose and it was fixed. When I asked if that could of been the problem the whole time they responded no. So either my car isn't fixed or I spent $1600 to repair a vacuum hose. To top it off when I stopped for coffee 10 minutes after picking my car off it wouldn't start again. So I now have a new problem to deal with thanks to these guys. read more

I rate them negative stars, here is my reasoning: I am a loyal customer whom has spent thousands of dollars over the last year that they've been working on my car. Multiple times I have brought my car there for service and they have claimed to fixed it, but never actually fixed it. Their mechanics obviously got there certification out of a cereal box. This most recent appointment they told me they could not fix my car, because they no longer make the part. I called auto zone, got the part I needed, and fixed it that night. I've spent too much money for my car not to be fixed. I will never invest money in such a poor company, whom claims to get the job done, but never follows through with their word. I had never heard of this place or been to it before I bought a Groupon; I went in and was very pleasantly surprised. The waiting room was clean and had a nice atmosphere(the dog was a plus). The staff were very helpful and kind when taking care of me. I stuck around to wait for my car and was offered coffee and tea which I found very nice. I bought my boyfriend a Groupon for an oil change w/break inspection and a tire rotation. They changed the oil but did not perform the other 2 services. How do i know? My boyfriends friend, who is a mechanic, had to be contacted about 3 weeks later to find out why his truck was making a certain noise and his diagnosis was, you need new breaks. So my boyfriend figured well, since THAT wasn't CLEARLY done, then he had him look @ the tires and the markings on the tires, sure enough, showed that they had NOT been rotated. Now THAT was OUR experience so please just make sure that YOU get what YOU pay for. read more

I asked them how long for an oil change, they told me 20 mins. Almost an hour later, I asked them if they were close to finished and they informed me that hadn't started, so I asked for my keys and left. Before that, an elderly woman was before me waiting for her oil change to be done and then had finished but never informed her and left her waiting until she had to ask if they were done. I had my oil changed at this place. Three months later all of a sudden my oil light goes on and within a minute my engine seizes. I take the car to another shop and they tell me the oil plug fell out. I try to get Shelton Car Care to cover the damage and they refused to take responsibility. Stay away from this place. read more

I'm always satisfied with the service I get here. All the services are reasonably priced. I hope they continue this practice and only recommend services that are absolutely needed. Other places will recommend services that might be needed but not immediately. The staff is always friendly. Their site says "bringing honesty & integrity back".
