Quick story... driving on the 5 later in the evening on Thursday(9something-10ish?). I assumed rush hour has already passed... was having a pretty crappy day in general and was a bit late heading out to my bf's... BAM... LA traffic strikes... yah this unhappy camper is so much more unhappy at this point. Autocenter Dr exit is approaching and *ding*! "a blueberry donut will make things better... but dang it's kinda late for a donut, hope there's something slightly fresh".... veer off, take the exit and head over to Modoo. I'm late already but if I bring my bf a donut he'll forgive me. I need this.... :) Moodo is open, bright, and welcoming! The girl at the counter was SUPER nice with a big smile. As I was standing there thinking of what to get she hinted... "right side, right side... they just came out" :) which included my fav blueberry...WOOT!! order two (one for me and one for my bf, cuz i don't share), and a chocolate. For good measure I ask her to suggest one more. She noted the fresh cruller... twisty and bright pink, i was a bit weary... but agreed to try it out. I was pleasantly surprised by the cruller. It was light and airy, but not dry and hollow. That was my first cruller in forever, and it was very good. The few that I had tried in the past, elsewhere were never that great and it never looks as good compared to the usuals, but after this last visit, I may order it more :) First thing I did when I got into the car... took a bite. Made me feel better :) and headed back to the freeway, now better ready for the rest of my drive in LA traffic. So yah, go in, try it out. I've tried various kinds and they've always been good. Their cake donuts are moist inside, with great texture. The regular donuts are fluffy and crisp on the outside. The glazes/frosting is evenly coated... no need for the fancy shmancy off the wall flavors with crazy toppings. Do they have other "fancy" stuff? sure... but you can't go wrong with the classics here. read more

This review is about coming on a Monday night at around 11:30pm. The only person who is working is the baker. He took about a few minutes to serve us since he was in the back cooking. He left a few times while we were deciding which donuts we wanted. There was a good selection. The cream puffs are delicious! It taste like ice cream filled. We got the assorted dozen and a few donuts were stale. I guess he didn't count correctly and only gave me 11 cream puffs! Oh well. Then as we got home we counted our doughnuts..& there's only 11!!!! We live in Los Angeles and didn't want to drive back for one stale donut. He seriously doesn't know how to count! The check in for the free Thai tea or iced coffee is only til 9pm. When I showed him he said I don't know I'm just a baker. There's a sign at the register saying "please excuse our services during the hours of 9pm-4am only the baker is working and he is focused on baking. Right off of Beach in between Stage and La Mirada blvd (Malvern) is this little gem. It is so bomb here! I have had the pleasure of ravenously ingesting the deliciously and wonderfully made glazed blueberry donut, which is now my favorite btw. It is the PERFECT blend of a crunchy bottom with a soft, cakey middle topped with a decadent glaze to seal it all in together. I've also devoured various cake donuts, as those are obviously the best kinds of donut, like the plain glazed, white glazed, and maple glazed. I love how soft they are! The stuffed eclair is also always soft and flavorful (boyfriends choice). They have the "French Donuts" there which are super hard to find! I have not had the fortune to try their cronuts bc I like to sleep in until 11am. Next time I go, however, I will try them!!!! Keep in mind that if you have the day off due to an upcoming holiday, the donut variety will be dramatically reduced faster than you can say "'Merica". The first time I went though, I did see blueberry filled donuts!! Also, regular cream, and some sort of berry one as well. I have to also add those to my list. One day at work I was craving a tasty donut and stumbled upon Modoo Donuts. What I love about this place is how early and late they are open. Their donuts are so delish that once I started introducing it to my fellow co-workers they started having donuts from Moodoo for our weekly meetings. My favorite is of course their chocolate bar but if you love blueberry donuts you must try theirs. I feel like no matter what you chose from there you won't leave disappointed. So I randomly stopped by this donut place for whatever reason. I don't really eat donuts all that often, but I had a craving. When I waltzed in, I saw an unfamiliar display case for the donuts. Not the typical glass case you find in most donut shops. Instead, there was a slew of open slanted trays behind the counter that looked like....wait. Wait just a second here. This looks familiar, but not Southern California familiar. I thought to myself "WTF? What is this? Could this be? No!...Yeah?...No!...Well, maybe?" DUNKIN DONUTS??!! THE elusive donut establishment that all the east coasters pine for here in Cali? Was Elite Donuts just speakeasy for DD? I spent a few years back east and I know how the right coasters love their DD, especially the coffee. DD is on every corner! I never got the coffee part. It was good, but not great. Then again, I didn't grow up on it. I equate it to the way Californians miss In N' Out or Mexican food when we're on the east coast, so yes it is serious business folks. Dead serious. I was shell shocked for a minute, confronted with a different display of donuts (I realized that the DD display does make it much more appealing for some odd reason). But I never frequented DD all that much, so I couldn't tell if the donut selection was spot on, but it did look similar. I didn't get any coffee either since it was late. I asked the guy behind the counter if this used to be a DD and he said it was about 10 years ago with a wry smile. If I were a betting man, I would say that the donut selection might come close, but I doubt they serve DD coffee. So this is just a heads up to all the east coasters out there. There are no DDs in California anymore, but this might be as close as you get to home. Maybe seeing that familiar display of donuts can conjure up some fond memories. Although I don't really miss DD, for some reason it did remind me how much I miss WAWA (the souped up, east coast version of 7-11). Oh yeah. I often go here with my friends after a long night out. This place is cheaper than other donut shops and just as good(i mean a donut is a donut right?) and its open 24hrs, unlike my girlfriend. I pulled into this quant little pastry shop on accident when i was meaning to go into the Burger King parking lot. Came here for the first time today. A coworker bought me an apple fritter from this place last year which I enjoyed. Since I was in the area, I said why not? A coffee and a donut couldn't hurt! Boy, was I wrong. I wasn't greeted when I walked in. I saw the donuts and the first thing my eyes caught were the cronuts, and I decided to try one since I never had one. The older lady was completely rude to me, and when I ordered the cronut on top of my iced coffee, she didn't even make eye contact and asked very coldly if I wanted anything else. Then disappeared to make my coffee when I was ready to pay. She simply shoves my coffee toward me and tells me the straws are in "a box over there." Nice. I didn't get one smile out of her. They won't get another penny out of me. I was not impressed with the Oreo cronut, especially since I thought it should be worth the four some odd dollars. I always try to come here every morning on the way to work. I always get glaze twist and maple French cruller. The twist is fluffy and soft. The cruller is consistent. Not many donut make French cruller any more. The best part is whenever I walk in the store the girl would ask if I want the usual and they give me a coffee cup and my 2 donuts. Attention Students: Need a place to study that has Wi-Fi 24 hrs? Then this is your place! Modoo Donuts is quite spacious and clean for a donut shop. There is 4 small tables and one large table for customer to sit at. There is 3 outlets for those who needs a plug for their laptops. There is a single Samsung TV nailed to the wall but it wasn't on. The have quite a selection of beverages available in their grab and go fridges: Soda Water Freshly Squeeze Orange Juice Energy Drinks and etc... Their donuts are on display on the back wall behind the counter. Each donut is label by #'s. Their donuts seem larger then those of Winchell's, Krispy Creme, or your local Ma and Pop Donut shops. I had the Powdered Donut hole, was quite surprise there was creme filling in it! It was quite a delicious treat. Also had a Glazed Twist, it was a little too sweet for my taste. Went there around 8 PM. Probably not the best time of day to buy donuts, even though they are open all night. We bought 1/2 dozen different donuts and all tasted like they were about to go stale. The next morning they were not fresh at all. Very disappointed consdidering all the other good reviews. Contrast that to buying donuts at Donuttery at 8 PM, and there is no comparison. Donuttery makes donuts all day long as they are a lot busier, and they taste fresh. Just a long ways to go to get there compared to Moodoo. This place has the best donuts in the world. I love the display & selections. Not like your typical counter front. I use to live close by and when it was a previous owner, it wasn't so great. The new owner definitely did an outstanding job. With the price of real estate, I'm surprised how inexpensive they price them. I guess they get enough volume to be able to price them so well. I live in long beach and I go out of my way to have there donuts. My wife's favorites are the creme filled chocolates. My son loves to try different customize donuts and I notice they have different kinds too depending on the season. I feel like a kid going to a candy store and it is definitely a treat knowing the donuts are freshly made. Next time I will try different kinds and I will be a connoisseur for sure. The cronuts here are at an outrageous price. I like to enjoy the cronut without all the extra whipped cream they put on. Just pass on that. They do, however, have wonderful bagels toasted for you every morning and lots of different donuts to choose from. They usually give me extra donut holes whenever I order some. I LOVE krispy cream donuts ! but this place comes a close second . I came here with friends after eating some Pho and some not so good shrimp and crab rolls. I honestly needed something sweet to take that taste out of my mouth " YUCK" My two friends had just had one maple bar each and some tea I didn't ask how they were but since they left not one crumb I will assume they were pretty darn tasty. As for me and my bf we has a mocha, caramel and boba frappe with wiped cream...No counting carbs here !! and a chocolate chip croissant and a glazed donut with whipped chocolate cream inside "wow" it was so good. I came here after I binge watched Dexter on Netflix for a few days and got a serious craving for donuts. Although I would've much rather had Michael C. Hall showing up at my doorstep with a box of fresh donuts, I knew that would just stay a fantasy. So, I opted to come here. I've lived in the area for 2 years but never stopped by because, honestly, I'm lazy. But I'm currently expecting and have the biggest sweet tooth on earth!
