Was eating kbbq next door and noticed their matcha sign outside the store so decided to get drinks here after we were done eating. I got their strawberry matcha. I'm very picky when it comes to strawberry matcha because I've had some where the strawberry is too over powering that I can't taste the matcha. Their strawberry matcha was honestly delicious. I ordered a green tea latte that was incredibly bitter and undrinkable. The powder was floating in clumps. We asked if we could switch drinks because we physically could not drink it, but the servers were dismissive and rude. I then asked for a cup of milk to at least dilute the powder, but it did not do anything to help with the horrendous taste. Would not recommend coming here. read more

Came across this unique little bakery while rushing to get home after kbbq since we were on a bit of a time crunch and an hour away from home. But! Decided to take a peek and try this place! Service was quick, we immediately ordered a little bag of 10 pieces as soon as we walked into this cute little bakery/cafe. Didn't have a clue as to what we were ordering but it was interesting enough for us to try! They're basically little moon cakes? That's what I can compare them to. Walnut shaped, red bean filling, and with a walnut inside for extra texture and crunch. Delicious and warm as soon as they give it to you! September 2023, Located in a busy Korean Shopping Center. The shop offers a variety items; Walnut cookies, Coffee, Macaron. The original location use to be in the Korean Market in La Palma prior to it moving to this new building. As soon as I walked in the staff greeted me with their warm hospitality. The shop has a few seating areas for the customers. To the left by the register their was a display of package sizes for the Walnut cookies with pricing. Very cute little cafe! I've been the restaurants at this plaza several times, and have always seen this place with their large posters promoting their famous walnut pastries. Finally, it was my first time trying them and must I say, they were DELICIOUS. They're walnut pastries with a red-bean filling and served WARM. Small, warm pastries definitely have my heart. I also tried their Affogato, which is espresso shots poured over vanilla ice cream. I've never tried this before, but the concept was very appealing considering I love coffee ice cream. It was creamy and super flavorful. I loved the vanilla ice cream's sweetness yet still feeling very awaken by the espresso shots. Definitely recommend giving this a try! They don't play much music (not sure if it was only that day). Their wifi password shows on their receipt after you've purchased something. Downside is there aren't any outlets to plug in your laptop or anything, so it was hard to stay for long. I usually expect cafes like these to be study- or work-friendly, but this wasn't the case. It appeared like a great study joint, but lacked many things. The walnut pastries are sold in many different packages, up to 36 count. But you can also buy individual ones ($0.48 apiece), and if you eat in they will heat them up for you. The outer shell is a semi-sweet bread with crushed walnut pieces in it, and the inside filling is a red bean paste. When heated, it's almost like a chocolate lava cake, not as sweet but just as good. They also have 2 types of shaved ice, one based on water (more expensive) and one based on milk. We opted for the later, and I would recommend it. The shaved milk produced a cream as it melted, enjoyable sensation and tasty. The strawberry flavor comes with a thinly sliced strawberry, a red syrup, pink powder, some mochi, and sliced walnut. Amazing golden walnut treats! Served fresh and tasty, these bad boys come out piping hot. Golden bread encases a soft red bean center with a walnut surprise in the middle. Each treat is individually wrapped. It is like an angel's breath. You can opt for two packaging, one of which is a gift box. The gift boxes are nice and reminded me of how hand made mochi is wrapped. If I had one word to describe these treats it would be "mmmmmmmmmmmmmm!" These treats last for a few days. I do have to admit, they tasted best right when they were made. They do make these as you order them. Don't get me wrong, a day later they were still fantastic. My suggestion is order a few and eat them right away. Then, make sure you order enough to take home. I only purchased the medium bag. These were almost gone by the end of the night. A larger bag would have been better. Nothing better than caressing such a soft sweet and engulfing my taste buds in pure ecstasy. If you grew up in Korea you should be familiar with hodo gwaja. If not, you've been deprived. For non-Koreans these are walnut shaped bread/cake filled with sweet red beans and walnut pieces. I usually bought these at Korean markets, which were ok, but this place takes it up a notch. These are warm and fresh when you order, not too sweet, and have big chunks of walnut inside. You can purchase them in a snack bag or in a gift box. The bags are cheaper. The boxes are great for gifts and they even gift wrap them for you. I bought a bag of 21 pieces of hodo gwaja for $7.00 and $5 for 12 pieces in a gift box. Each piece is individually wrapped in a tissue like paper. They also serve tea and coffee drinks. I tried their hazelnut coffee and jasmine tea. They were ok, nothing spectacular, but they go well with hodo gwaja, especially the coffee. If you are here for the first time, you should get combo A which gives you one house coffee and 4 pieces of hodo gwaja for $3.25. It's a good way to sample their products without spending too much. Of course, I can never eat just four of these. I ate about 10 pieces in one sitting. It's located in the same shopping center as Super 1 Mart (aka Hannam Market), next to BCD Tofu House.
