Delicious ice cream and lots of flavors. The keiki size is a lot larger than you'd think so I'd get the kids size.

Located in the space formerly occupied by the longtime ice cream store Bubbie's space, Moena Sweets has become just as popular with neighbors and tourists alike. They may not have 32 flavors, but their selection is solid, and includes gelato options. There's lots of parking at the Koko Marina shopping center, except on the Saturdays when the center hosts a very popular arts and crafts fair. The fair itself is worth attending, and you can stop into the ice cream shop for a quick treat when you're finished shopping!

Ice Cream is okay. They have many options to choose from. Definitely over priced for 1 Scoop. We also got the waffle cone which tasted very stale - not fresh at all. Add on's for toppings is extra $1.50 as well. The interior and other dessert options are great. A lot to pick from and nice to have after dinner. Otherwise, don't think we'll be back. Not to bad first experience.

(Desserted 05/16/23 TU @ 7:00pm): The sweets here might make you moan with delight! I was on my way home and felt there was still room for dessert, so I took a minor detour to Moena Sweets to see what they had to offer. I "found" them the other day when I made a wrong turn, so I made a note of their location, and lo and behold here I was. It looked like a nice local business to try close to home. Would this be a sweet retreat at this frozen treat parlor!? PURCHASE Double Scoop Ube And Poha Berry Ice Cream In A Cup ($7.95): When in Hawaii, of course I had to try more local flavors. The ube was simply ubeliscious, while the poha berry was creamy, custardy, and tropical. I really enjoyed each flavor both on their own and matched together. However, I couldn't help but be surprised that I paid this much for two scoops of ice cream. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=Zno5BEsftYPzoLfHHK_1Wg&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw SERVICE Greeted by a sweet young female behind the counter, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=oI09mvrRVETKCVkZ8xSJjA&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw she patiently waited while I cased all of the flavors and contemplated whether or not I wanted gelato or ice cream. Once I decided, she quickly scooped my selection, handed me my order, and I quietly sat at a nearby table to enjoy my dessert. Everything was short and sweet which was all I needed - mahalo! PARKING (FREE) Located within the Koko Marina Center in a sizable outdoor shopping center with plenty of parking stalls, I easily found a spot right out front - 'nuff said! ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A cute quaint open layout inside https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=ihPMKrT81neduWeWiXi37g&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw with a handful of chairs/tables and one setting outside, I liked the two interior quote murals with a whimsical https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=PjQZlpGviR42zImwBww9ew&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw one and an inspirational https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=yf08Qa64IwR73xjsTMno-g&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw one, respectively. Easily legible price menus were hung up on the wall behind the order counter. There was a very antiseptic clean modern rustic welcoming feel. Plenty of natural lighting came through the large front wall windows and doors while electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. There were no TVs while music played in the background. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=IWbj7yeib047Vnxe1YOh6w&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL Moena Sweets was a pleasant way to end the day. However, as much as I enjoyed the tantalizing treat that trekked across my tongue, the price was simply too prohibitive for me to realistically consider another return. I'm sure the ingredients were all-natural, organic, locally sourced, etc. which were all wonderful attributes if these were true. Unfortunately, I personally wasn't as concerned about these features in my food. The service was friendly and straightforward. This was pretty much a parlor that focused on gelato and ice cream snacks with multiple options. Plus, it was always a pleasure to support a mom & pop small business. I found fairly good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $8.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 3.5 STAR

Banana mac nut single scoop for $5.50.

This has to be the most expensive single scoop of ice cream I've ever had at $5.50 per scoop. Yikes! They're located in the Koko Marina Shopping Center across from the theaters and near Zippy's. Plenty of parking is available in the shared lot. In addition to ice cream scoops, they also offer shakes and other creations like banana splits, etc. I ordered the banana mac flavor single scoop on a sugar cone, and the ice cream itself was delicious! Not the best I've ever had, and certainly not worth $5.50. I'd give it 4 stars. Service lacked the aloha spirit. Neither of the two workers greeted me and I don't think they said anything until I mentioned that I wanted a single scoop of banana mac nut. I probably wouldn't stop by again primarily because of the price point.

Nice shop where Bubbies used to be in Koko Marina shopping center. Friendly staff and good tasting ice cream. They had a lot of flavors and it was hard to choose from but I think the sorbets were the best! The flavors really popped. They not only have the usual ice cream in cups or cones but they also offer shakes, floats, ice cream on waffle and açaí bowls. Was pleased to Find they stay open til 9pm- ideal when you have a nighttime craving for ice cream. They have seating inside as well as places to sit outside the shop. Nice place to come when you don't feel like shave ice.

Keiki cup: Chocolate Double scoop: Guava gelato & Chocolate ripple i think? Brownie sundae: Vanilla & Rocky road Boys there were nice and patient! We came at about 7pm and it was empty. Overall was pretty yummy as we all emptied our bowls. The guava wasnt as "flavorful" as id have liked and the vanilla ice cream had a frothy-ish texture.. the brownies were so good, warm and plenty. We will most def come back to maybe try some other flavors! Hopefully to try the yuzu aid as well if still available :)

Moena & Sweets located in Hawaii Kai shopping center. Near Sophie's Gourmet Pizza. I highly recommend both places. Grab a pizza and then dessert. Moana is very clean and decorated extremely well. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Variety of selection of items. I got myself me a rainbow cone. Yummy

Cute little spot for ice cream. The flavors were pretty good and there were lots of flavors to choose from. Prices were okay. I do think there could be some areas they could improve on to make it a 5 star perfect ice dream spot. mainly about the ambiance. When people get ice cream, 9 times out of 10 they are wanting to buy a happy experience, not sure a good sweet food (we can get decent ice cream from a grocery store). The ambiance needs to convince people that spending $7 for a 10 minute experience (2 scoops) is worth it. I don't think there was any music when we walked in, just dead silence. The staff was kind of day dreaming and not enthusiastic like most dessert places. One fridge was totally fogged up and I couldn't even read 10-20 of the flavors.

Dessert after dinner in Honolulu, Hawaii... I'm so lucky to have friends who use the Yelp app... I mean... I'm so grateful that my friends are Elite Yelpers who really know how to use filters on the Yelp app to figure out which places are still open... and - they look at pictures of other reviewers to find the best places! For example, we were deciding between two businesses. It was about 8pm, so, several shops were closed already. From the photos on Yelp, Moana Sweets looked like it had "cute decor"! Even though they are located at Koko Marina Shopping Center in Hawaii Kai, we took the drive out! There were many positive features for Moena Sweets: There's lots of free parking! Service is helpful and friendly! Restrooms are relatively nearby (upstairs). Menu has variety! The best thing was that we were able to dine in!!! Yes, they have outside seating. However, we enjoyed the air conditioning and pleasant environment! I especially liked the starfish in the vases on the beautiful wood table where we sat! I wouldn't mind returning if I was in the area again! It's way better than other places where we eat our ice cream while standing on the sidewalk or have our halo halo while sitting in our cars in the parking lot! Those places didn't even have a restroom available! #truth P.S. this space took the place of Bubbies Ice Cream... Note: we forgot to take a selfie with the ice cream mural... Arggg!

MOOD: Sweet tooth craving After a long day at the beach I decide to take my little sister to get something sweet as we were in the parking lot. We go in and we are greeted by a nice young lady who offered us samples and was very helpful as we browsed through the menu. This is such a cute shop. The aesthetic is lovely even though a lot of the chairs were up as I think they are having limited capacity or dine-out only. I thought the cute scriptures on the wall was so sweet. I got a shake that I made and my sister got a scoop of ice cream. Both were amazing. I will definitely be back!

It's cash only at the store but you can order online to pay with card and they'll get your order ready right away. They have a convenient online order system that is super easy to navigate so the pints added up quickly! My personal favorites are currently black sesame, strawberry lemonade (super tart, which I love) and Kona coffee. My friends loved earl grey, pistachio, and ume guava.

It's the kind of spot you're most likely to discover while wandering in or out of Ginza Bairin, following a luxurious tonkatsu meal craving something cold and refreshing. The setup is refreshingly no-frills: medium styrofoam cups, flavors handwritten in Sharpie, and two separate freezers dividing ice cream and sorbet. The texture runs on the firmer side, which actually works in its favor -- your scoop holds up beautifully in the island heat and doesn't melt into a puddle five minutes later. Given the generous portions, you probably won't be refreezing leftovers anyway. The tropical fruit sorbets are the clear stars, made with fresh fruit and bursting with natural flavor. Mango, lychee, and guava taste vibrant and authentic -- bright, fragrant, and not overly sweet due to the natural acidity from using real fruit. Beyond the classics, there are some fun and unexpected options like corn cheese, durian, and avocado for the more adventurous palate. The standout for me, though, was the Kona coffee ice cream. It avoids the common trap of being cloyingly sweet and instead leans into a rich, dark, nutty undertone with an intense coffee essence that lingers in the best way. It feels grown-up and balanced -- deeply satisfying without overpowering. Whether you're looking for the perfect palate cleanser after tonkatsu or just want a cold treat while strolling through Waikiki, Henry's Place delivers simple, memorable scoops that taste like they're made with care. No frills, no fuss -- just really good ice cream and sorbet.

The sorbets were rock hard and super hard to eat. Might've been easier on a hotter day but felt like we could barely get anything and had to tear the styrofoam and bite it like a giant popsicle. Coffee was good. Probably needed to try it on a hotter day but found it underwhelming.

Another colleague and I jumped at the opportunity to tag along on a Friday early afternoon. Located down Umi Street not too far from neighboring New City Nissan on N King Street, Samurai moved to their current location in 1995 serving Maui style sherbet, popcorn and other local snacks. They also expanded to Samurai Snacks Aiea for an impressive 20+ years before closing its doors in May 2023. We arrived shortly after lunch time where we pondered at the menu wondering what to get. It's not fancy here at Samurai - - the storefront is basic and nothing fancy with a few seats patrons can sit on if they decide to eat their treats on premise. Morale has been low at the office so I decided to get some convenient prepackaged 4oz assorted Samurai cups to cheer up the staff. My colleagues also picked up some bags of buttered popcorn with mochi crunch and furikake for an informal office party to welcome the much needed weekend. Because we were already there, we also got some soft serve cups to cool down before heading back to the office. My colleagues had the classic strawberry and blue vanilla swirl and I selected the mango. My colleagues enjoyed their selection but the mango didn't live up to my expectations. The color was vibrant and enticing but sadly the mango flavor did not come through. Each cup came with a sugar roll cookie that was delicious. After our cold treat we headed back to the office with our surprise for our colleagues where it was a big hit. There were many happy faces standing in line grabbing some popcorn and a 4-oz cup of Samurai. Overall, a much better experience with Samurai that's deserving of an update with higher marks. It has been noted in my books to stick to flavors I'm already aware of and avoid trying new ones for that possible disappointment that often happens to me.
