The dining room is elegant and intimate without feeling stuffy, creating the perfect balance of fine dining and relaxed Tahoe hospitality. We enjoyed the four-course prix fixe menu with the wine pairing, and every course was excellent. The ingredients were incredibly fresh, the flavors were thoughtful and unique, and each dish felt like something special without being overdone. The wine pairings were fantastic and added to the experience throughout the meal. A special thank you to owners and chefs John and Nyna Weatherson. Their passion for what they do comes through in every aspect of the restaurant. Just as impressive as the food was the service--warm, welcoming, attentive, and genuinely focused on making guests feel cared for. The entire team helped make our anniversary memorable, and we left already talking about our next visit. If you're looking for a special dinner in Truckee, Trokay is the real deal. Outstanding food, exceptional hospitality, a beautiful atmosphere, and an experience that's worth every bit of the drive, time, and anticipation. Highly recommend. We'll definitely be back.

It was fun trying somewhere new as we usually go to our favorites. For the past several years we've been going to Scott's for celebrations, but that has gotten old so thankfully we found somewhere new and loved it. I highly reccomend this restaurant. The ambiance is spectacular. If you can get one of the side tables under the overhang with the wine bottle chandelier you'll love it. Here's what we ordered: Borscht with Beef: Traditional red soup made with beets, beef, garden vegetables topped with sour cream- To me it didn't look appetizing, but it's a traditional dish so we split a cup. We didn't have much hope that would be edible. We were blown away trying it. It was actually good. We were shocked. It was so good. It was filled with pieces of tomatoes and beets and huge tender chucks of beef. Spinach Blini-Gluten free, vegetarian, 6 blintzes filled with spinach and creamy white sauce. We really enjoyed these Spinach Blini. They were very rich. I could only eat two to them and took the third one with me to share with my husband. He really liked it and wish there was more. I really wanted to get the Cherry Blini, but we were too full even though we shared an entree. I'm so disappointed as they looked so good. We needed a couple more people at our table so we could have tried more dishes and eaten everything family style. Beef Stew-Tender chunks of beef meat, potatoes, carrots, mushrooms and this good things stewed in perfectly hearty cheese gravy baked in clay pot and served with tortilla on top. We split this dish and it was the perfect amount for us. It was really good. The chunks of potatoes and meat were huge, the mushrooms were firm, and the flavor was really tasty.

There were salads, baked goods, cakes, hot foods, and more. The prices were displayed on the monitors above. It was definitely hard to choose and everything looked freshly made. We opted for the sausage, brisket, pierogis, some croissants, and garlic bread. The staff were so nice explaining some dishes to us, and being patient while we were choosing. There was some seating on the cafe and outside. We brought our food to go. Everything tasted great! We will definitely be stopping by again to try more of their stuff and even their cafe items.

Just a heads up if you're planning to visit for the first time: the location is kind of hidden in a strip of warehouse/office buildings, so I actually drove past it at first. Once you walk in, there are two different sections. The left side is a sit-down café and the right side is more of a cafeteria-style area with pastries, drinks, and some of the viral items I've seen online. We ate on the café side, so my review is based on that experience. I was SO excited for my kids to try the pancake artist palettes. They serve mini pancakes on a paint palette tray, with colorful flavored syrups in the paint wells and a little paintbrush so kids can "paint" their pancakes before eating them. It looked adorable and like such a fun experience. Unfortunately, both of my kids absolutely hated them. They each took a bite and refused to eat any more, which is unusual because they both love pancakes. I tried the different syrup flavors myself, and while they're technically edible, I honestly thought they tasted pretty bad. The concept is cute, but the actual taste was not good in our opinion, and it ended up being a waste of money for us. The service also wasn't great. The girl at the register had a very "meh" attitude and didn't seem particularly friendly or welcoming and no one welcome you when you are there either . For my autistic son I ordered a plain burger because he won't eat it if it has sauce on it. When it came out, it wasn't plain. I let them know, and instead of having them remake it, I asked if they could just give me an extra bun since he could still eat the burger itself. They did bring extra buns, which I appreciated. I also ordered a mango chia bowl, and it took 40 minutes to come out. Forty minutes for a chia bowl is kind of crazy. I had actually gotten up and was waiting in line to ask for a refund when I noticed the girl at the register say something to the waitress, and suddenly my chia bowl appeared. It honestly felt like it had been forgotten about until I went up to the counter. As for my food, I ordered a croissant sandwich. It was okay, nothing special, but not terrible either. In total, I spent about $67. My younger kids didn't eat their food, my oldest son's order was wrong, my croissant was average, and I waited 40 minutes for a chia bowl. I drove quite a distance because I saw this place trending online, and unfortunately it did not live up to the hype for me. Maybe it's a better spot for adults, or maybe I just caught them on an off day. Either way, this was a one-and-done visit for my family, and I won't be returning.

I did come to the event twice Friday towards the very end, they ran out (understandable) but I did come back again Sunday early evening, and they were out. The cashier was very apologetic and explained that the demand was high this year and they ordered more but even that ran out. Nonetheless, the shake has the best rich flavoring and I think it's so fun to walk around and drink. Makes me feel like I"m 12 again!
