I had decided that Mohave would be my go-to piercing spot in L.A. and was excited to introduce my daughter to it a few months ago for her own piercing and tattoo needs. I had been there once before and had received impeccable service in every way. Then I had the displeasure of encountering the owner. I can't say that I actually met him, because he pointedly ignored me for hours while greeting and chatting up everyone else in the small lobby. He walked past me probably a dozen times as though I weren't there. It got to the point where it went from awkward to rude. Like, our eyes literally met multiple times yet he immediately looked away and continued to ignore me. It irks me when I think of the nearly $900 I spent on services, jewelry, and tips for my daughter and me that day, not to mention the chunk I spent during my previous visit. Still, I wouldn't have bothered writing a review about something as minor as that until he interrupted my daughter's tattoo in progress to have the artist watch him perform a piercing. The artist was in their zone and their body language told me it was an awkward moment for a break. I was annoyed but my daughter didn't want to make it an issue so I let it go. She told me later that the owner said it was for teaching purposes. Ultimately, the tattoo ended up having issues that my daughter had to get corrected at another studio. To be fair, I can't say that it was because of the interruption, but I also can't say that it wasn't. Is it unreasonable to expect that teaching should be structured in a way that doesn't detract from the experience of a customer receiving something as indelible and expensive as a tattoo? He managed to make both my daughter and me feel disregarded that day. I still regret not speaking up. read more

I've been to Mohave Creative twice now. Once to get a new piece of (art) ink, and the other time to touch up the work I got done. Both times I was super impressed with how clean the studio is kept, and also how inspirational the tattoo artists are!! I am truly so unhappy with the tattoo I got from here, I am at least grateful I got a smaller one but the linework got really puffy during healing and it's hard to tell what it is now unless you're really up close. The guy who did it was super careless about doing the tattoo in general and it shows in his work. Especially for the price I paid. I went with a friend who also ended up getting a terrible tattoo done by another guy who promised he wouldn't do any shading at the start and yet shaded anyways. It's really disappointing when tattoo artists don't care about their work considering it's fairly permanent for their clientele. read more

I got my septum pierced here and the experience was honestly nightmarish. The piercer seemed completely out of it and pierced it in the complete wrong spot through the cartilage of my nose. It was one of the most painful things I've ever experienced. He then proceeded to say that the jewelry looked too big for my face, pulled it out of the fresh wound, and shoved a smaller one in. I ended up taking it out a few days later and was able to get it repierced in the correct spot at a different shop but for the love of god, do not get pierced here. read more

Well I came in the first time , waited 45 minutes... second time 2 hours 30min and he is still not out.. I already paid... now instead of getting my tat im leaving... Crazy work .. need a refund tbh one of the worst shop.. I wish I could give 0 stars, I am writing to express my deep concern regarding my recent experience at your studio with piercer Jonny Ocean. What was meant to be a straightforward piercing session turned into a deeply unsettling and unprofessional ordeal. When I entered the piercing room, I noticed leftover blood on the tray from the previous client, which immediately raised concerns about cleanliness. Before the piercing even began, Jonny had me and my friends rummaging through his drawers and loose piercings to find the right jewelry. This lack of organization and professionalism was concerning. When I questioned his ability to perform the piercing, he became defensive and proceeded to brag about how skilled he was, growing visibly upset with me for expressing my concerns. Throughout the session, Jonny rarely used gloves and even asked my friend to "glove up and help me, please!" which was extremely disturbing. It was clear he was not following basic hygiene protocols, making me feel incredibly unsafe. As the session continued, which ended up lasting two hours instead of the expected 30 minutes, he continued to argue with me and blame my body for the issues he was having instead of taking responsibility for his inability to do the piercing correctly. He had a random client, put gloves on and try to help him. He did 2 piercings on me, 2 back dermals. He took an hour and a half to do the first one, I then instructed him on how I got my face dermal, and then he did the 2nd piercing that way. The first one he did then fell out a few days later. The 2nd one stayed in. I had a dermal anchor floating under my skin, after the top Jonny could not attach fell off. I had to go to another piercer, who then had to find the anchor, and fix it. By the end of the session, I left feeling physically uncomfortable and emotionally distressed. My trust in Mohave Creative Tattoo was completely shattered. I strongly urge your studio to reassess the professionalism and practices of your staff, particularly Jonny Ocean. This experience was a betrayal of both my safety and my trust. read more

I booked a nose piercing appointment for 4 PM and was told to wait half an hour. After continually being told that the piercer was coming out, we waited in the store for an hour and 20 minutes. The piercing turned out fine and took under 5 minutes, but we couldn't understand why we were made to wait so long for such a quick piercing, despite booking the appointment in advance. We had an event to attend after the piercing that we were unable to make due to this insane wait. The workers were just hanging out in front of us doing nothing at the front desk while we waited, and the entire shop was empty. They told us that the reason they weren't ready yet was because they were preparing for a flash tattoo sale event that evening. Apparently, they only have one piercer in their entire staff, so he could not make himself available until long after the time I had booked the appointment for. I couldn't understand how if they were having an event that required making clients wait for over an hour for their appointment, they should not have had openings for piercings at all. Overall, I do not recommend coming here for any piercing needs. You are far better off going somewhere that respects the time and money that you invest into your piercings. read more

AMAZING experience with Ian. Got my nipples & tragus done and it was way way way less painful than expected. Considering those were some intense piercings (for me) to get, and especially to get all at once, he handled my nerves wonderfully and did it as quick & professionally as humanly possible. This was my first experience at this shop. It was an impromptu visit but scheduling was very easy to do. Everyone was very friendly and the shop was very clean! Some places have artists and piercers that don't switch out gloves enough or can be unhygienic but not this place. The entire shop was a vibe and everyone was very welcoming. I had the pleasure of working with Chris. I originally came because my best friend passed away and I wanted to get a tattoo to treasure her by. I first went in to get a separate tattoo that I've always wanted for years and never found the right person to do it. From the get go Chris was exceptional! He talked it through with me and came up with ideas and he's good company when you're on the chair vibing to the shop music together. His work is amazing and I highly recommend chatting to him about some of his own original pieces! I absolutely loved my first piece and I knew he was perfect to get that second tattoo for my best friend. It was easy to get in contact with him to discuss ideas and I was blown away when he showed me his sketch. He went above and beyond and put in little details that really made it so special for me. Chris would talk to me about tattoo care and even tell me little details about why he would use each needle and how it suited what I was trying to achieve. I wasn't even going to leave a review until I received further TERRIBLE customer service. Also, unlike my other tattoos (which are 20 years older) from other shops, this one is blurring, and literally flaking off my skin. It isn't even 3 years old yet. I have to avoid exfoliating it, and it doesn't even get any sun exposure. The needles were painless, and everything was going great until my artist asked to randomly take a break before coloring/shading. It is a very small tattoo, he was almost finished, and would have taken under an hour total. He came back extremely high on an illegal substance. He then proceeded to spell my boyfriend's name wrong, despite outlining it correctly when he wasn't under the influence, and then didn't do a great job of covering it up. It looks like a blob of gray White Out. The owner attempted to make it right, offering me a refund which I accepted. They then changed their mind and said if I wanted to come into the shop to get it fixed, they would help me. I repeated that I could not travel 1,300 miles to do so, and was again told that when I'm in the area I could get it fixed. I again asked for the refund I was initially promised, and they have stopped responding all together. You are lucky I don't type out every detail of what I overheard of your staff meeting while waiting despite having an appointment. You were openly discussing ongoing sexual harassment issues, and other inappropriate behaviors happening in your shop. Very unprofessional. read more

What an amazing place to start off. I haven't seen a location that welcoming ever. I had Steven show me around and was very fluent and made everything understanding for my first ever tattoo. This review shouldn't come as a surprise to Mohave Creative. On 12/5/20 I paid a $300 deposit for a 6-8 hr session scheduled on 4/9/21. On 4/7/21, I called to confirm since I hadn't heard a thing in the 4 months only to be told they were going to call me soon to notify me of Jonny's inability to tattoo because of an injury. I'm understanding, I know perfectly well accidents happen. He didn't reschedule me then, but I got a call on 4/8 to reschedule for 4/28/21 at 1 pm. As a registered nurse, getting time off isn't always easy, but I made it happen. On 4/26/21 I got a call to confirm my appt and asked if I could come in at 2 pm. No problem. On the day of my appt, I got a call to come in at 3 pm. No problem. I arrived at 2:45 pm and was asked to submit consents I had already submitted electronically. No problem. I was told Jonny wasn't there yet but his team will start working on my design. No problem. I got the final design at 4 pm, still no Jonny. 5 pm, 5:30 pm, 6 pm, 6:30 pm... still no Jonny. I was told he'd show up but "he has a lot of things going on." Obviously, more than my 1-2-3 pm appt. Being VERY patient, I asked for his ETA a couple of times. No one knew. Supposedly no answers to texts or calls, yet no one seemed worried for his whereabouts. At 7 pm, 4-6 hours after my scheduled appointment. I told the front I was leaving and asked for a refund. She actually asked if I wanted to reschedule... ARE YOU KIDDING Me?!? They absolutely had no value or regard for my time. I could have worked an entire shift and I certainly didn't need to drop off my 2 kids to be watched for this appt. What a complete disappointment! Jonny's work is great, but definitely not worth the disregard and basic human abilities to communicate and honor an agreement. read more

I've paid over $1600 for ONE tattoo and for some reason I got moved around to 4 different artists who either quit or were fired. The first guy botched my tattoo so bad it looks nothing like the original. The owner of the shop was supposed to fix it but that was an even worse nightmare to deal with. He same day canceled on me 5+ times (NOT an exaggeration, it was probably more) I was waiting on him for 5 hours at the shop , the colors were poured out and the numbing cream was applied and he said he was running an errand and never came back. I was rescheduled so many times I honestly lost count. I've lost $1600 , 1.5 years of my time working with the shop to try to resolve things, and who knows how much money I'll have to spend on laser, a new artist, and legal fees taking them to court. If you look at the other reviews you'll see they've had the same experience with jonny. I was too patient and understanding with the owner and really wanted to avoid going to court but he's ignored me even after texting his personal number numerous times. I saw him posting about buying a new house in the hills after ignoring me and that was the last and final straw. This is more for people who aren't sure if they want to go to this shop for piercings. I got a Friday the 13th piercing and a few days after, the ball fell off and I knew when it healed up a bit, I'd have to go and get it professionally put back on since it's on the side of my head and i can't see it. I wanted to go to this shop since I'm local to the area and walk by it a lot. I like supporting local businesses when I can, plus, my piercing was healing up really nicely and was no longer in pain when it was moved- so I figured the time was right. Anyway, I called in advance to see if they could do it and the girl on the phone was kind and told me to come in. She never mentioned the price but I am familiar with shops and know usually there's a $5-$10 charge to reattach jewelry. I came in and gave her the piercing and the girl at the desk said that a jewelry change out would be $20- to be clear, I didn't want a jewelry change out, I just needed the ball put back on my rook piercing. I had the ball in a bag, no need for new jewelry, just a pair of gloves and one minute of someone's time. But no, to reattach, it was $20- that's super ridiculous honestly... I knew the prices at this shop are steep but I wanted to give them a chance... the full price of the reattachment plus a tip would have cost the same as a new piercing (a piercing not from this shop to be clear, I believe it would have cost $70 to get the rook at this shop) How does that make sense? Idk, stupid. Again, I'm sure the shop is filled with talented folks but it certainly wasn't worth it to me. I found another shop down the road who said they'd do it for no charge at all... so I went there instead and tipped the piercer for his time. read more

Taylor talked me through the various steps and made sure I felt comfortable throughout the whole process. He also made sure to respect my choices while also giving his professional opinion without coming off rude which was super helpful as I am entirely new to tattoos. The shop is very clean and everyone wears masks. They require clients to wear masks as well which is really great. Overall, I highly recommend Mohave Creative! This was my first tattoo and I will definitely be going back if/when I decide to get more. I was looking for coverup services and did an yelp inquiry. Mohave tattoo was very quick to respond with an estimate and available appointment. Inside is very nice and clean with friendly smiles all over. They do have a paid parking lot (provided by metro)and meters as well as nearby street parking so hassle free parking. I had my appointment woth Brandon who was lively and energetic. He made me very comfortable and gave advise on the design and everything. The artists work with you so don't be afraid to speak your mind. The entire session with Brandon was great and seamless. I loved my coverup and going back for more. I'm really grateful for everyone that works there from the receptionist to every single artist. I got tattooed by Taylor (who by the way is amazing and extremely talented) he and I came up with a design that he drew up and was texting me and sending me rough drafts till 1am just to make sure I liked everything. When I got there for my appointment everyone was very warm and welcoming to be honest feels like a small family which I liked, Taylor was very calm, patient and helped me get through it i will definitely be going back to him for any other tattoos.
