I scheduled a consultation and showed her a variety of paintings that I dreamed of morphing together to commemorate Saint Lucy (a Saint dear to me) We talked about details and I left confident and excited to see how she would artfully combine the images! She sent me the art before our session and I loved it instantly! I asked her to move one small detail which she did perfectly and the session went amazing! I had my first (& subsequent) tattoo(s) done here on a friend's recommendation. He didn't give me a specific name, so I just went in & took the first available appointment -- Adam Forman, who no longer works here. The consultation went really well; the image he designed for me was EXACTLY what I wanted. Upon walking in I was immediately impressed with how bright and clean the space appeared, & always enjoy watching them set up for their next session -- they set everything up in front of you, so you can see with your own eyes how they open new packages and carefully wrap everything up. Some tattoo parlors that I've walked into out of curiosity made me feel uncomfortable; not this one. I felt right at home. Adam did both myself and my friend, who had hers done right before me, and he chatted with both of us the entire time, making sure we were comfortable. When I returned for my second (& then third, which took 2 sessions) he remembered me and we practically picked up our conversations where they left off. They require you to come in to make an appointment because they want to check your ID & make sure that you're over 18, but the 2nd time I went in I was making the appointment from NorCal & would only be in town for a few days, so I didn't want to miss the slot. I asked them to verify with Adam that I'd been there before & that they had my ID on file, & he remembered the design (a pig & rabbit) so they okayed the appointment. I really appreciated their being flexible with me about that. I'm sad that he's not there anymore, because I really loved the shop & have been thinking about the next addition to my piece. At least he's still in the area. & in any case, I highly recommend Incognito to anyone; I watched the other guys doing some work while I was there & was equally impressed with them. & they're all really great guys. Amelia Rose saved my upper arm. No, seriously she worked a miracle. About a year ago I had some work done by an artist somewhere else which was a big mistake on my part. The work was mediocre, and it healed poorly. I was devastated to have nearly my entire bicep covered with this super funky tattoo (the bad kind of funky). This tattoo was really sad. It was supposed to be a moon, but I actually had one person ask me if it was a fetus. I wish I was kidding. After a year of being massively bummed out I did some research and discovered Amelia through a friend. To be quite frank I had also done some research on laser removal and bleaching creams too. I can tell you I'm glad I opted to have it redone rather than removed. So far with two sessions my tattoo is everything I was hoping for. Honestly I could not be happier. We have one session left and I will post before and after photos once it's healed! Aside from being wickedly talented Amelia is super sweet and easy to talk to. I was given a $250 dollar gift certificate there, and wen in to get some work done. I talked to some dude (tyler i think?) and he was beyond rude. He treated me like i was gum on his shoe. Mind you i have gotten work done there, and have a lot of work already, so i have some standards. Then, for a tattoo that should not have exceeded more than $200, he told me it was going to be over $400. It was clear he did not want my business ,and, just to make him happy, ill be sure not to give it to him. Its too bad, because most of the artists there are really talented. too bad talent doesnt give you an excuse to be a dick. I do a shit ton of research before I get a tattoo. You're not buying a kabob for crap's sake. Unless you're getting a kabob tattoo... That's a different discussion. A sadder discussion. I checked out Jason's portfolio on the shop website. Immediately I was blown away by the wide variety of styles he's done. That filled me with a lot of confidence, because you might wonder if what you're asking for is outside of an artist's range. I wonder. I always wonder. I have the blood of Woody Allen and Sandy Kofax and countless kindred neurophiles running through my veins. I just started wondering recently about the safety of food packaged with plastics and I haven't had a solid night's sleep in two weeks. Oh yeah, the portfolio. I didn't see an example of the exact style I was going for, but based on his obvious chops - his arsenal of awesomeness - I could tell Jason would pull it off with aplomb. And of course the tattoo turned out exactly as I imagined and wanted. Better, even. Now I've got a go-to artist in LA, and one less thing I can wonder about. Did I mention Jason is super nice/cool? I said I would never get a tattoo. Four sessions later, each at Incognito, I'm very satisfied with the art on my canvas. I get compliments daily on my tattoos and I always direct people to this studio. Just as their motto says, "clean gentle service" is what you can expect here. Jason just finished a piece on my arm that has been in the works for almost 10 years by another artist. The piece had 2/3 sections completed but I didnt have the schedule to go to NY to get it completed. I have been looking for someone in LA for awhile who I was comfortable with. Based on these reviews and his online portfolio, I decided to meet with him to go over the design. On top of having to sorta continue someone elses work, a good portion of it was cover-up of another LA tattooist (not an artist). Needless to say, Jason's work was amazing. His portion of the cover-up is almost flawless and only I can tell that there was something there before. His lines are clean and sharp while the shading is beautiful. I just got my tattoo from Adrian yesterday. I lucked out and called yesterday and he just had a cancellation so I was able to walk in later that afternoon. I told him what I was looking for (2 feathers in a native american style behind my ear/on my neck), brought in a picture to reference and he drew up my design in about 5 to 10 minutes. I knew I was at the right place when I saw the design. The size was on the money and the style was exactly what I wanted. It was my first tattoo and he really made it as painless as it could possibly be. Very gentle, fast, and a great artist. I really recommend this place to anyone looking for a non-pretentious shop. I have been getting tattooed since I was 16, starting with some horrible home done tattoos, moving up to tattoo shops in the 'hood and then finally settling on incognito as my place to go. Adrian is absolutely the most awesome artist I've ever been to. I go in with ideas, and some rough drawings, and he takes that and whips up the perfect tattoos. He's also great with last minute additions and changes to the design. I've gotten about 4 large pieces on my arms and side by him, and I get compliments every day on how spectacular they look. He makes me feel welcome and he's great to talk to. When you're sitting and getting tattooed for 6 hours, it can be awkward not to talk to anyone. Adrian doesn't make you feel like that at all. Make an appointment, and take your ideas in. There are different guys at the shop with different specialities, so make sure you ask about that. Adrian does lots of traditional American tattoos, which is the style I usually go for. They'll usually require a deposit if it's a larger piece, and when you come in, its all ready and waiting for you. It can be pricey for larger pieces, but its worth it. I'd much rather pay more and have a tattoo I'll love forever, than pay an average price and not be thrilled with my work. Overall, if you're looking for a one of a kind tattoo with awesome artists and people, look no further than Incognito. read more

I got my foot done here by Tyler. It turned out really neat and looks really good. Only downside was that when I went to make an appointment, he wasnt there and they guy at the counter told me that what I originally wanted be okay, but when I got there, my sketch was really different, had to be in a different angle and spot, and had to be a lot bigger than I wanted, and the guy didnt discuss price with me. The tattoo took about 2 hours and I ended up spending over $200!! Plus he didnt include my $20 deposit in the price either! Other than that, I still think I may have gone somewhere else but the end result turned out great, just bigger than I had imagined, but I did agree to it before he started. read more

Jason Schroder did a cover up on my leg, turning some stupid flash i got off a wall into a unique piece with great color and movement and only pisses off my dad a little bit. I had to do 3 sittings cuz I don't really have the stamina for more than 2 1/2 hours at a time, but each time Jason and the staff were courteous, clean and very easy to get along with. I'm not very social when I've got 7 needles embedding color into my skin, so I can't say that I made friends with the guys, but I'd definitely go back for another tattoo. read more

Got my first and second tattoos here, by different people. The staff was helpful with design and placement tips, but not very personable. They didn't make much of an effort to connect with me as a client, and spent the time tattooing talking to each other. I tried to join in that conversation and got shut out, so I pretty much sat in silence both times. But the work was good and the shop was clean, so I can recommend them on those merits. read more

This is actually a long-overdue review for Jason, who did a large piece for me in the summer of 2008. The piece was a small bunch of chrysanthemum flowers on my left side (extending across the rib cage). The linework was precise, coloring was smooth and perfectly blended, everything was just great. This is definitely my favorite piece out of the six I have collected so far in life. The main reason why Incognito and Jason gets 5 stars from me is because not only is he extremely talented, but he is also very accommodating, gentle, and works at the speed of light. We actually had to finish my entire piece in just two sessions, because I was traveling a lot back and forth from NYC. He understood my scheduling difficulties, and managed to finish all the linework in the first session in just around 2 hours in the summer, and filled in all the color in the second session in about 3 hours the following winter. I was extremely happy with the results and grateful that he was able to work me into his busy schedule. The prices here are a little high, but definitely not unreasonable. Jason charged me by the hour, like most good artists do for larger pieces.. Every dollar I spent was absolutely worth it, I am honored to carry his work on my body and glad that he helped me immortalize the chrysanthemums that mean more than the world to me. read more

I just got a tattoo from Amelia and am so happy with it. She had a last-minute cancellation and was kind enough to fit me in when I reached out. I selected one her pre-existing drawings and after briefly discussing a few modifications, she drew it up and it was perfect! Went to Incognito last night for my first tattoo in a loooooong time. I was referred to Jason, by a friend whose work is extremely well done and amazing. Let's just say, this place is great. Jason was super nice and very professional. I mentioned I was on a budget and sent him a pic of what I wanted and he made it a beautiful piece of art. I recently accompanied a friend of mine to a consultation with Sara at Incognito, and was pretty shocked by how she was treated. From the moment we arrived, Sara appeared to be annoyed, and couldn't seem more eager to stop talking to us. It was as though we were "bothering" her by being there--and this was a scheduled consultation. I later found out that my friend had already texted with Sara, sent pictures of the tattoo she wanted to cover up, as well as pictures for the tattoo idea, beforehand--but it was like Sara hadn't even looked at the pictures, or given the concept a single thought. We were in and out of there in 10 minutes, max. To make matters worse, Sara explicitly stated that my friend (who is Vietnamese) is too "olive skinned" for any kind of color tattoo. Which isn't even an accurate description of my friend's skin tone, besides being untrue and weirdly racist. A word of advice: if you don't want to tattoo someone, just say no. Say you're booked. Say you don't do cover ups. Don't waste a hopeful client's time and disrespect them in front of their child. I came here for my third tattoo. I chose this venue over others thanks to the Yelp reviews! And Incognito definitely deserves its 5-star rating! Its a very clean venue with very talented artists. Tim Forbus was my artist and he whipped up a flawless design to be placed on my rib. He answered all of my questions honestly, and gave his opinions. I checked out his website (TimForbus.com) and he does amazing work--not just tatts, paintings too! His style is a great pin-up, war era type, although not limited to it. If you're ever in Pasadena for a tattoo, Incognito is definitely the place to go. Full of dedicated artists in a clean venue. p.s. This review is for Zach Johnson. Zach did a tattoo on my back which included a previous tattoo I already had. He started work on it when he was still at Shogun in Pasadena, but finished it at Incognito. The experience was really great. Zach is very professional and very talented. I brought in photos and asked him to basically make the tattoo pop. A couple elements of the design were done from photographs (like a monarch butterfly and a hummingbird), but I also got a bunch of flowers added to it and he did those all freehand. My cousin also got a tattoo from him (some cherry blossoms) and it came out excellent as well. I would highly recommend Zach and the shop itself is clean, everyone is friendly and like other reviewers have said, no bullshit. Just great tattoos and talented artists. A++ read more

You won't get any attitude or inflated ego here, just be serious and the won't waste your time either. I actually got my very first tattoo here, and 2 more subsequent ones, and am still very happy with them. Adrian Sanchez tattooed my husband and I and he did an amazing job, was super nice, worked quickly and charged a very reasonable price. This place is great and Adrian is awesome! I'm so incredibly thrilled with the work Adrian did on us. It's been a few days now and I'm still just pleased as punch whenever I look at our amazing tattoos. The line work is very defined, the shading is so precise, and he really made the effort to take our ideas and make them into perfect tattoos. If you want to find Adrian in the future, I believe he will have moved to American Electric Tattoo in Silverlake starting in November, 2010. I know that I will be following him over there. Tim is a southern gentleman, evidenced by his attention to detail, understanding personality, and professional yet relaxed attitude. He works gently, quickly, and expertly. As long as he's tattooing I won't use anyone else. And if he ever stops, I'll have to kidnap him and force him to work at gunpoint. Thank you Yelp, for giving me the opportunity to review Incognito Tattoo. I found out about them about 2 1/2 years ago, when I used to work at the target across the street. A year later, I wanted to get a tattoo for my 21st birthday, but did not go here. Don't ask me why. I am glad that I rediscovered this place, and decided to go here for my second one. I wanted to get work done by Jason Schroeder (who happens to be the owner) but he was booked for a whole month. Being the impulsive weirdo that I am, I went with Spencer Briggs. He is an amazing artist, and I have 4 other tattoos by him. We are currently working on a half sleeve, and each time, he is awesome. The shop is really clean, which is kinda funny coz if you look at it from the outside, it looks like you might catch something. The inside is so welcoming. The staff is amazing too, it's like a tiny community, or like Cheers, where everybody knows your name. So, if you want to have your first tattoo, go here, talk to the artists. ummm...(screams).. NOOOO!!! DON'T DO IT!!!. There are SO many much better studios around. Ok, if you want to get a "Stamp" tattoo, meaning no thought put into design just a copy off some flash and if you want to be cut open with heavy hands go for it. If you want an artist who is actually an "artist" with talent and you want something that you won't regret (Tattoos are for life, Lazer doesn't really work) then go somewhere else. The cocky attitudes of these guys are hilarious. At lease if you want to be entertained you could go by. Oh ya, I dont want to forget, THEY OVERCHARGE like crazy... again, DON'T DO IT!!! I would say where to go but I don't want to cause static.. Just do your research, see who the real rockstars in the industry are and make an appointment with them. I decided to try these guys, after reading the good reviews from other people here on Yelp. I call these guys up and ask if I could swing by and talk to someone about getting my first tattoo done. They tell me sure pop on by, as no appointment is needed to have a tattoo done. I get to this place, to be greeted by the front of desk person. I show her my design and ask if these guys could do something like that? She tells me yes and informs me of the pricing. Considering this was my first tattoo, the cost wasn't really the first thing on my mind. Considering this would be something that would last me my entire life, there were other questions I wanted to ask. Quality was more of a concern that cost. I asked if I could speak to some of the artists, as I wanted to get a feel for them, and see how they worked. She informs me that there were no artists in that day (Saturday), and I would have to make an appointment. Why on earth would the shop be open, if they couldn't do tattoos? And why on earth was I told appointments were not necessary on the phone? I then ask if I could see some of the work the artists had done? But it seemed very obvious to me that this was an inconvenience to her and she didn't really have time for me. Bear in mind that I was the ONLY customer in the shop. It was completely empty except for me. I pretty much made the decision that I wasn't going to have anything done here and promptly left. Seems like easing customer concerns and answering any questions from customers, is the last thing on this stores mind. Would I recommend this place? Hell no. Would I go back: HELL NO!! read more

Several weeks ago my itch for a new tattoo had peaked and I actually had the funds to make it happen. The reviews for Incognito on yelp were so good I decided it would be worth the hour long bus ride to Pasadena from Hollywood to try them out. I was not disappointed. I was tattooed by Spencer, who typically works by appointment only, but had had a cancellation so he was able to take a walk in. I gave him a run down of the design I wanted, an anchor, and he stepped into the back to work something up. I was so please with what he came up with (sometimes the simplest ideas can be hi-jacked into bad territory) and that he took obvious care in drawing it up. We were matching the placement to another tattoo I have; I really appreciated the effort he put into getting it just right. I have several other tattoos and told Spencer that I have a tendency to scar - I think that my skin doesn't always take the ink right away and artists like to keep going over it to push it in and my skin is too delicate for all that. He assured me he was very familiar with skin like mine and he'd take care with it. I'll also add that he was very adamant about the aftercare - something that needs to be done right that a lot of artists will just gloss over. In the end, the tattoo came out beautifully. I'm totally in love with it and can't wait to talk to Spencer about some other ideas I have. read more
