It's a nice property, I've been to Leal winery and tie restaurant in MH. We made reservations online for 3:30 on a Sunday and received an email confirmation . Once we arrived they mentioned they were closing in 30 minutes but they were going to grant our reservations and we would not be in a rush. They gave us a discount on food. However less than an hour later they were rushing us out to close the gate by 4:30. Would have been nice to stay and enjoy our food and wine, we weren't able to finish it because of the time constraint.

We made reservations for Saturday at 1:30pm. It was a rainy day so we couldn't be seated outside. Inside tasting room and outside seating were both spacious. They had the door opened too. Felt safe to not wear a mask inside. We just stood at the tasting counter and did our tasting. There are plenty of long tables and chairs. They didn't have a tasting menu printout. But it's 5 wines for $25. You need to buy 2 bottles to waive a tasting fee. Nothing really wowed us. But the lady who helped us was nice and talked to us about the wines and other stuff. Too bad they only had those 5 wines opened. It was a slow day. There was a small private party for a baby shower in the back. Parking lot was big. No outside food allowed. Sparkling wine brut - good Chardonnay - crisp , oak , good Mosaico- cab , Malbec ,Merlot - peppery , ok GSM - ok Meritage blend Holt - has tannins , fruity , ok

Excellent customer service here!!! Laura and Brooke made our experience nothing short of amazing. We did the $25 tasting and it was more than enough for each of us! We also ended with the "frozé" (frozen rosé) and got a souvenir cup! If we bring our cups back, we get half off the frozé! The food was delicious- the cheese pizza/flatbread held us up and we got a couple of charcuteries. We were able to bring our pups and the ambiance was beautiful. It was a nice and sunny day so we sat outside and walked around to enjoy! We will definitely be coming back in the future.

This was my first time checking a winery in Morgan Hill since I usually go to Sonoma. I was so impressed with everything here! Plenty of parking with the cutest love outdoor sign. There's an outdoor area for dogs as well. Plenty of tables and outdoor space to put food and wine glasses. We brought our picnic snacks to pair with our wine and got to enjoy the amazing weather. The interior was super cute inside as well. Lacy helped us and she was the sweetest. My girlfriends and I got both white and red wine tastings. Both had some really good bottles. We enjoyed the sparkling rose, el Gordo, and evolution. We had such a great experience here that we walked out with a membership. I love rose so it only made sense to get a membership with a winery that makes both frose and sparkling. Highly recommend you come here with your dogs and 21+ year old friends and loved ones. I can't wait to come back with my corgis. Cheers!

Friends and I attended MOHI Wine's Farm-to-Fire on Sunday, April 7. The event was advertised as a afternoon exploring the farm, picking your own produce and then pairing it with our choice of protein over an open flame. The event was from 12 - 4pm. We got there a bit after 12:30. The location is beautiful but the event description was very misleading. We probably would not have attended if it was advertised as actual experience. We arrived close to the start of the event and they were sold out of Chardonnay! There was a choice of champagne or Rose but not what we wanted, we were looking forward to a lovely sunny afternoon and chardonnay. We settled for the Pinot Noir which was excellent but not a first choice. We walked out after checking in expecting to go pick our produce, instead, we were surprised to be greeted with baskets with pre-picked produce that you filled your bag with to take home. The event description said freshly grilled meal! We did not have a choice of getting our 'basked picked' produce to be grilled. We walked up to the buffet for the appetizers and there were 2 types of flat breads which were good. One topped with tomatoes and another with broccolini. We then went to get our meal, the protein choices were steak, salmon and chicken. The meal was carb heavy and very oily - we were served extremely oily broccolini, potatoes with no seasoning, a big chunk of dry bread (no butter or olive oil) and huge wedge of red cabbage that none of us ate. A couple of us got a charred piece of cabbage, the rest got raw cabbage, it was seasoned with balsamic vinegar but it was too raw and too large of a piece to eat. I got the steak but it was already cooked and ready for me, I was not given a choice on how it was cooked and mine was pink, not something that I enjoyed. My friends had the chicken and salmon and they seemed to like it but again no choice on how the chicken was cooked. You could not go back for more protein and my portion was smaller than any standard serving. The cherry on top of the experience was there was no dessert! Not even fruit. The description also mentioned that the food would be grilled over an open flame, it was definitely not an open flame. All in all it was a very disappointing lunch with misleading description of how the experience would be. Not only did they run out of chardonnay at the start of the event but when we left at 2pm, the baskets of vegetables were almost empty. The event was till 4 and for people who showed up later, the venue was not refilling the baskets, at least not when we left I would give this a 1 star except that the grounds are beautiful and they have chickens!

The grounds here are very beautiful! We're staying at the Thousand Trails on the backside of this winery so it was quick and easy to get here. Before we left we booked and paid for two tasting of a static tasting menu that is five wines. They are poured in glasses that are on a metal tree. It's a mixture of whites and reds. For the wine quality, I'm not a huge fan of white in general but my wife liked them. The reds were descent but I liked the Pinot Noir the best. My wife liked the Meritage. Once we were done with the tasting we each had a glass to sit at the awesome stone and concrete seating areas outside. I had the Evolution which is a great red blend. It's jammy, a bit tart, and really good overall. My wife had the flozé. It's a frozen concoction that a mixture of a few things. She really liked it. My only "complaint" is that we spent $75 dollars and got two tastings and two glasses after that. None if it contributed to a bottle or anything else. That seems a bit much given prices in the area.

A week ago my friends and I visited Mohi winery for a "Farm to Fire" event the winery was hosting. We were all excited to try this different type of experience. The advertising stated that you walk the farm, pick your own produce, then head to the washing station to clean your fresh cut vegetables and then head to the open fire to pick your protein and the chef will cook your food on an open flame. Sadly, upon arrival we were really disappointed to see that the advertising was really misleading. We were instructed to grab a bag as a take home, we could pick any produce that was arranged in baskets on two tables. Thankfully we arrived shortly after the event started because people had already scavenged the baskets and there was hardly any produce left to choose from and they were not restocking the items. It would be really disheartening to show up later to only see empty baskets! There was also no open flame cooking, I'm not sure what kind of bbq they were using but again, very misleading. Everything was grilled but you had no choices regarding your side dishes, they served broccolini, which was overly oiled and bland, grilled smashed potatoes, with no seasoning, a huge chunk of red cabbage that wasn't cooked properly, a dried out slice of bread and then your protein. I picked the salmon and that was best thing on my plate. My friends picked the steak and chicken. Everyone seemed to enjoy the protein except my friends that picked the steak wish that they had a choice in the temperature it was served, it was all pretty rare. They did offer two different kinds of flatbreads as an appetizer and both were pretty good. We were all disappointed with the event as whole but the staff was friendly and the wine was great even though they weren't prepared for the event and had ran out of Chardonnay so your only option was champagne or red wine. The winery grounds are beautiful and we did walk the farm.

Beautiful venue and great wine! Even though there was a wedding happening on the property (away from the tastings), we received very good service and even got to try some of their flatbreads. Highly recommend for a big group or 1:1.

Very cute dog-friendly venue with great indoor and outdoor space. There's a little dog park area, bocci ball courts and corn hole for visitors to enjoy. They offer a nice tasting menu at an affordable price. Wish they offered more snack/food options. The staff were super griendly

Yikes! $25 for a tasting?!?? Talk about steep! MOHI by Sycamore Creek is definitely a gorgeous winery, but I wouldn't recommend it due to the cost per quality (just not worth it). All the neighboring vineyards and wineries are on average $10-15 per tasting and are very good. Sadly, I didn't love* a single wine from Sycamore and I probably wouldn't return. To top it off, there were no mentions of the wine history or description of any sort. All they do is pour the wine and that's about it. Very minimal communication from anyone here. Overall: - Dog friendly - Clean establishment - Ambience is nice, both indoor and outdoor - Service is not very welcoming nor friendly

I know the typical thing to say is something along the lines of, "Words can't express how much I love this venue" or "I can't even begin to tell you how amazing this place is" but fortunately (or unfortunately lol) I have many many words to say about just how incredible MOHI Wine is between the helpful and welcoming staff and photo-perfect venue. I've been capturing weddings since April of 2012 and MOHI is in my top 3 favorite venues if not my most favorite venue so far. Walking onto the property for the first time felt as if I had designed this space myself for capturing weddings. To top it off, my team and I were hosted by Sarrah and Christina who could not have been more accommodating. My photography team prides itself on coming to weddings not only to offer our services but to participate alongside the guests in celebrating the wedding couple. Sarrah and Christina's team we're so genuine and welcoming that it was plain to see that they hold onto the same values. Ok now the venue. I wanted to quickly go over the things that I personally enjoy as a vendor that potentially get overlooked. Starting with the prep areas, both rooms provided by MOHI are absolutely adorable, have beautiful spots to capture photos, and are close to the ceremony area. I was actually pretty surprised to see just how aesthetically pleasing the spaces were, offering plenty of light for our photographers. The ceremony area is neatly tucked away from the parking lot, preceded by two entryways, both stunning in their own regard. I'll admit, there are so many places to capture incredible images that I was fairly close to having analysis paralysis! The space offered plenty of room for us to walk around and capture the most intimate moments without disturbing guests. Side note! When you book a venue like MOHI where you have so many available spaces to capture portraits, it's extremely beneficial when trying to stay on track with your wedding timeline. Time and time again I've been to venues that are pretty spread out which can have some benefits but when you're already 20 minutes behind schedule and you need to take a 10-minute golf kart ride or walk to a location, that can really put a damper on things. As someone that shoots on modern photography equipment and appreciates flash AND natural light photography, the cocktail and reception areas easily provide the opportunity for both. The cocktail area is wonderfully lit at night and the reception area walls are lined with lights to achieve the most bokehlicious backgrounds! The reception area is also well suited for bounce flash. No experienced photographers should have trouble with this space. :) I am plenty thankful to have been able to photograph my couples in this space and feel like I could create new and unique images with each visit. If you're considering this space and team to host your wedding, be like Nike and just do it. You won't regret it.

Wow they set up a pop up tent outside and it came out so perfect. They have the best rosé sparkling. Excellent for a hot day! Beautiful winery. Great reds selection try the Gordo you won't be disappointed. Great charcuterie. read more

The website says kids and dogs friendly, which is not true. We were camping next door looking for a place close place to wine taste with my child and mother. We could not even bring my son to the patio even though the website says family friendy. I waited 30 minutes for service. Wine is good service, and the environment made me never want to go back. I am not sure if I was not dressed up enoug, etc. 25 dollars is a lot for a tasting. I have been up the coast for tasting, and that is a lot. read more

Stumbled upon this spot when visiting Northern California and what an awesome find. They have a great set up and spaced out seating during covid. It's great service and the wine tasting flight is a great deal and tasted great. I ended up loving everything so much I bought a few bottles to take home. The ambience is something you can't beat. It's not crowded like other wineries and it's beautiful and you can actually take a peak around the vineyard. We had a great time. read more

We stopped by here on a whim. It's a nice spot for a wedding and I enjoyed the sparkling rose. The Pinot Noir is nothing to write home about. We were not offered a tasting which is a bit odd for a winery. I like that it is dog friendly but not that you have to be 21+ to enter the facility since we have a teenager. All in all, I would come back and possibly consider this venue for a wedding. read more

I can't review the wine because we didn't get to taste. I would recommend posting the winery hours at the gate. As a local resident driving around wine tasting on a lovely Sunday afternoon, we saw many wineries with their hours posted at the entrance. It would be super helpful to know at the winery gate the hours instead of waiting at the counter to find out. This is a review update and I am so pleased with this winery. First, they have posted their hours at the gate. Thank you! We had a delightful pourer who was friendly and knowledge. And... the wines were very tasty. We bought the rose and reserve Chardonnay. The grounds are clean and 'fun'. Lots of outdoor space and bocce ball courts as well. We'll be back. read more

We went there to have a wine tasting. On their site, it says they close at 6 pm, and my friend had a membership. We went, and they turned us away several hours early. If you list a time stick to it, don't turn people away. Horrible customer service. Wont return because of this. read more

My fiancé and I were going wine tasting with our friends, and after going to Kirigin Cellars, decided to stop by here because we saw it on the way up. It is a beautiful place, and we really loved the small outdoor dog field. The outdoor seating is very cute. There was a wedding going on so it closes to the public at 3pm. I'm not going to lie, I'm not the most knowledgeable when it comes to wines, but I did enjoy the mohi rose. The lady who served us was an expert and was very polite. The reason for the 3 star rating is the fact that when we were served our sips of wine, we noticed that the lady serving us was shorting us compared to 2 older couples nearby. My fiancé pointed it out after she poured the first wine, and I thought it was just a fluke, but realized it was on purpose after all six of our wine tastings were 2/3 the size of the other couples. I know that we look young, but we were willing to buy a bottle, and after paying $15 just to taste, I can't understand how she thought it was okay to do that. At Kirigin, they had six wine tastings for free, and the tasting size at this winery was just slightly bigger. Beautiful venue, but this experience leads me to think that there is ageism. Needless to say, we left without giving them more of our money, money they had assumed we didn't have. read more

So this an absolutely beautiful venue for a wedding and likely for food and drink. I was super disappointed though to have such great response from the Leal team in answering questions and then setting up a walkthrough, meeting after to discuss ceremony ideas and budgets...and then nothing. I let them know that I was looking at another venue that weekend but this was right close to home so I would prefer this one and was told that I would have a quote within 24 hours. After a few days, I left a follow up voicemail because nothing was received and I never heard back. I sent an email after that and also never heard back. It's now been more than two weeks. I also wanted to leave a review here for the MOHI pop up in downtown MH. I went with my girlfriends for an outdoor dinner and it was incredible. Perhaps the best food I've had in MH. I could not stop thinking about the food and was excited to go back with my husband and kids. We went late on a Wednesday night (last week) and the food was exactly opposite. My husband actually sent his cold, dry salmon back and even our server said "oh yeah, I keep telling them they need to add a sauce- it even looks dry". Our cheesecake was good enough, but the brownie was cold and dry and even my toddler didn't eat it. I don't normally write reviews, but we love Leal properties. We LOVE the grove. We've stayed at their hotel in San Juan Bautista, and we have been to many weddings at their various locations. It felt so natural to have our wedding there because of our past experiences, however the last month of service and food and inconsistent service is just not what what have known of the name in the past. Summed up: most brides don't want to have to chase down a venue for a quote just to be able to host their wedding there. I gave two stars instead of one based on past experience with Leal as well as what sounds like a very great policy in regards to wedding cancellations and reschedules due to Covid. read more

Five dollar tasting fee for 6 pours. The naked Chardonnay is delicious-- light and fruity. The grounds are beautiful and the tasting room is right in the middle of the action. When I went I was the only one. Bf and dog stayed outside. Service was polite but not friendly. Struggled to make small talk and she looked at me while I was tasting each wine. THE PRESSURE! PLEASE LOOK AWAY! Not open to the public during passport weekends but they are open to their club members. Worth a visit to have some nice picnic time!!! read more

We just got married at Sycamore Creek and we couldn't be more happier with our choice in venue! The team: Jennifer, Tiffany, Nicole and all the staff members were great to work with! They all made the planning process and the day of the event much less stressful! We had a pleasant experience from the very beginning. Jennifer worked with us to stay within our budget and Tiffany coordinated the wedding while Nicole helped with decor and florals. It was a Hindu ceremony and they were very accommodative to our culture. They even have an Indian Caterer, Jalsa, as a preferred vendor and the food was delicious! We were also allowed to bring in an outside decorator, R&R Rentals to create a Mandap! The service was amazing on the day off with plenty of staff members to accommodate our guests. The nice thing about it all is that the venue conveniently has a planner, bakery and decor/florals so they were able to work seamlessly together to make our dream wedding come to life! The Venue: It is a very scenic venue with many beautiful and versatile areas amongst the property, which gave us a lot of options for photo and video such as a rustic barn, vineyards, olive trees, barrel room to name a few. We were able to utilize the entire property on our big day! Everyone was in awe of the venue and we received so many compliments! If you are looking to host a wedding, We would 100% recommend MOHI by Sycamore Creek, in a heartbeat!! read more

I've been a devout member of this winery for a little over 2 years. While I've enjoyed their wine and their beautiful winery, I must say I am extremely disappointed by their "new policy" to not allow anyone under 21 on their premises. I am a new mom, and on Valentine's Day wanted to enjoy their beautiful facility with my newborn and husband. Upon arrival we were told due to "insurance liabilities" my husband, friend and I were not allowed on the property because I had my newborn with us (person under 21). SERIOUSLY? A newborn, who was asleep and likely would have remained asleep throughout our entire visit. I could understand liabilities for older children, i.e. toddlers running around unattended. However, this is a newborn, who was in a stroller fast asleep, and would be completely immobile (unlikely a liability). Thanks for shunning me as a mother, and now parent. I was welcomed when I was childless and spent a lot of money supporting your business through the years, and this is how you treat your loyal customers? No thank you, I will be cancelling my membership and taking my business elsewhere, effective immediately, seeing that I am not allowed to enjoy myself with my husband and now child. Extremely disappointed is an understatement! SB read more

Spent a lovely afternoon here for a wine tasting and charcuterie board. We sat outside in the area next to the vineyard, perfect location to relax and enjoy the scenery. Lacey was very attentive and she made sure we had everything we needed for a wonderful visit! read more

This Morgan Hill winery is locally centered on the wine trail off of Watsonville and Uvas Rd. The property has a gravel driveway lined w beautiful Olive trees. The wine tenders were nice and friendly. Thank you Sycamore Creek! read more

Yeah were members and then they stopped offering tastings, kept with them in the hope that would change but nope. Weird . All the other local wineries offer tastings and I'm sorry that's why I became a member was to taste the wines. I will find another winery to join until they regain their senses. read more

Hosted a bridal shower here and couldn't have picked a better venue! The staff made it so easy and stress free. During planning and on the day of Eduardo was extremely attentive and detail oriented. He made sure everything looked perfect and exactly to my liking. We chose to do small bites/ apps and all the food was amazing! Definitely work with Eduardo and Christina and book this place for your next event! read more

Bordering 4 * This used to be Sycamore Creek Winery, a family run business. It's been bought out by Leal from Hollister for 4 years. We were very dubious as Leal Is not our fave winery, more of an event winery than wine for the connoisseur. Leal has renamed their Sycamore Creek Wines MOHI which means Morgan Hill. Notice the Central Coast description=Hollister=Leal for most of the wines on their tasting menu. They have a couple library wines such as the Malbec that are true Sycamore Creek wines. Pleasant and enjoyable tasting menu experience at $15 waived with bottle purchase. This is unusually high for the Morgan Hill appellation. The cab and Pinot, both from Hollister were good. The question is: WHAT happened with the Sycamore Creek wines grown and tended so carefully??? read more

We stopped by yesterday for a quick tasting and enjoyed our time though it was limited. The last tastings were ending at 3pm due to a wedding however they allowed us to do a tasting while it was rushed, they did mention that to us before we started and whether we'd be ok with that . Winery: the grounds are gorgeous, Léal Winery's owner in Hollister purchased this winery and redid it so it's got a very nice tasting room with a gorgeous outdoor area which would be fun to sit out on a nice day not to mention the love sign as you enter is very nice photo spot! Wine: We really enjoyed the rose and Pinot. The Zinfandel was good as well however tasted a little young. Customer service: At first when you enter they don't greet you right away. There's about 4-5 employees working. We stood by the tasting room for a while before we squeezed in for a tasting due to some nice people. Then you have to flag them down instead of them greeting you and noticing your new to the group of people tasting. After we told them we wanted a tasting they were attentive. It think some advice would be have at least one person designated to greet your customers as they enter. It creates a welcoming vibe and makes people have an overall better wine tasting experience. I've seen mixed reviews about having kids around and I can definitely tell you that they are sticklers about it! My boyfriend and I came here once a few months ago with my mom because she wanted to pick up some wine real quick and do a tasting. Both my boyfriend and I were 20 years old at the time and we had to reassure the lady pouring the wine that we weren't trying to have any. So if you plan on bringing kids, I advise against it!! Other than that, the venue is very pretty and they've made some expansions. The wine is very good - I recommend any of the white wines! Like other places, if you become a member your wine tasting is free otherwise the tasting fee is $15. read more

I came here with a Groupon for wine tasting for two and had a blast. The wine tasted great (I'm not a wine connoisseur so I can't speak to that as much). The space isn't as beautiful as Clos LaChance but it was still super nice. It has a more modern vibe with clean lines and an industrial feel. They cater large events like weddings (Live Love Leal) as well. Their outdoor space has a bunch of bocce ball arenas and some high tables/chairs. They're closed Monday/Tuesday and are open all other days from 12-5PM. Their normal tasting room price is $15 for 6 wines. read more

Excellent people and even better service. Wines are stellar. The staff is very knowledgeable, so much so we are having a family function there soon because we felt so welcomed and invited. On our first visit it was just to wine taste however after we were allowed to just roam the gorgeous grounds and take it all in we decided this was the place to hold our family function. Every single time we have gone back to go over things either with staff or by ourselves everyone has treated us as if we were regulars. So very engaging and available! Customer service is stellar even if you are just there to finalize details. Also in the last 9 months they continue to upgrade their property which was another terrific surprise!! Excellent - 5 stars! You will feel like you are away in Napa relaxing and taking all the beauty of the vineyard, the tasting room and the outdoor area. Another plus they have a dog friendly area as well! You're gonna love it!! read more

"Like dreams, small creeks grow into mighty rivers." -- Anonymous Part I of the Wineries that I Visited Before and After I Visited The Pretentious Winery That Shall Not Be Named This was the winery I visited before The Pretentious Winery That Shall Not Be Named. And like so many others, the service here and attention to customers is far beyond what the behemoth across Watsonville Rd provides. So much so, that I have visited twice already. First time was on Passport weekend and it was extremely crowded. But in a fun way...cuban food truck outside, latin music band playing...all of the servers and customers in great spirits. No sterile Chateau here, the tasting tables are oak barrels arranged in a circle around the servers and the wine sales area. Even with the crowd though the main server was so friendly, and apologetic about the chaos, that it was very easy to just relax and go with the flow. David Correa and Cascada were outstanding as the featured band and we bought their CD. Didn't make it to Babaloo the food truck (out of plantains) but we will seek them out in the future. Wines on both visits were similar: A Chardonney starter than a variety of Reds like Syrah, Zinfandel, Petit Verdot, Cabernet, Merlot. The reds were inconsistent, not very balanced on the worst; but I did enjoy the Zin and Petit Verdot. Bot with strong varietal characteristics yet these were balanced and earthy. I have had their Sauvignon Blanc at a local restaurant and I liked that too. It was too crowded to buy anything on the first visit but I did get that Zin and SB on the second visit. On the way to Uvas Falls, this is an excellent stop to or/and from that area. Local schoolteachers started this winery and after two changes of hands it is back in local family ownership. Small Creeks can indeed create a river...Recommended! read more

I came here thinking it was dog friendly and that we could bring a picnic....I guess I got that wrong. Although they allow dogs the set up with bar stools, high counters and a bare, stony area around wasn't really "friendly" or relaxing. It seemed a very adult, modern tasting area. The views and olive trees were lovely though. A review only a few months ago said they had brought a picnic but this is not allowed now. They sell cheese and meat boards, but we didn't try them, thinking we would take our picnic elsewhere when we were done tasting. The wines were very good and, for $25 for 6 generous pours, it was much better value than Sonoma or Napa. Lacy who served us was lovely, and apologized for how long it was taking. There were only two workers on a Sunday afternoon. Management really needs to improve on that...3 hours was a long time, especially with a bored dog at our feet and no outside food allowed! So 3 stars because we feel they could try harder to make it more welcoming, but we did appreciate Lacy and the wines! read more

My friends took me here *their family are regulars here*. I have to be completely honest I'm not a wine snob or do not drink wine very often. But!!! I did like this place when I went wine tasting I even bought a bottle! So the break down is that tasting was 15 dollars but it is waved if you buy a bottle. If I remember correctly it was 4 different wines that I tried. 3 were good one was ok. *i like fruity wines* So the place was pretty spacious it was like a warehouse with barrels all around and outside they have bocce ball!! *played a couple rounds* Overall I have to say that I would come again I had a good experience was cool taking pictures but I have no signal there...but yeah I would say it's a must try and they also do events and stuff from what I heard they have tables in the back of the barrels you see in front. Every single time I visit, I am treated poorly. The individuals who serve wine are rude. Is it the color of my skin? I see people walk in who are treated much better......Not until I can finally get a word in to let them know I am a wine member... then I get somewhat decent service. $_$ It is so annoying. I really like the wine. But I am considering ending my membership, due to this very disrespectful treatment. I can't even bring a girlfriend for a wine tasting without being embarrassed by the poor racist service. read more

Beautiful venue, horrible service. Two couples, we each tasted the white flight and the red flight. There were 7 dirty glasses in the two white flights. The flight was replaced, the server said "we try to catch it when we polish the glasses" the amount of residue in the glasses was impossible to miss. One of the glasses had a chunk of glass at the bottom. I don't want to think what was at the bottom of the red glasses. We asked to taste the Malbec, we were told, "it wasn't open" after 7 dirty glasses - they could have opened it. And I don't buy wines I can't taste. Finally, we were charged full price and not an apology at the end. I was looking forward to the tasting and left disappointed. read more

Sycamore Creek Vineyards produces some of the Central Coast's most coveted and award-winning wines. The boutique winery sits an exquisite property set in the scenic hills just west of the charming towns of Morgan Hill and Gilroy. The vineyards sit along the southern edge of the Santa Cruz Mountains in the Uvas Valley.

History

Established in 2005.

Originally known as the Marchetti Ranch, in 1975, the property was purchased by the Parks family, who renamed the property Sycamore Creek after the small stream that bisects the vineyard. In 1977, some of the Carignane was replanted to Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, two varietals that would make a name for the winery. The winery soon amassed a long list of awards and medals. By 1989 the Parks sold Sycamore Creek Vineyards to Kazuaki Morita, a businessman whose family has been producing sake for generations in Japan. In the early 1990s, Mr. Morita became ill and passed on. The winery remained in the Morita family for many years after in relative obscurity. In July of 2005, Sycamore Creek Vineyards was purchased by Bill and Carolyn Holt of Morgan Hill. The Holt family has been involved in growing premium wine grapes on the Estate, as well as at their Uvas Creek Vineyards property located just 1/2 mile north of the Sycamore Creek property.

The wine maker must be a good babysitter to this process." -- Jerry Ross So working and living in the area of Morgan Hill I have recently seen a bunch of signs popping up directing drivers to Morgan Hill's newest winery: Ross Vineyards. Turns out there are 50+ signs all about the area so after hiking Uvas Canyon, I saw a couple more and had to stop in. The Winery is situated on a Hill overlooking Chesebro Reservoir. The vineyard and winery are located on the site of the historic Coffe Ranch whose original owner Joseph Coffe came to the United States from France in 1870 and five years later Mr. Coffee founded The Wine Depot Winery in San Jose. The family lived and farmed on the 300-acre ranch along Llagas Creek in Morgan Hill for three generations the Coffe and cultivated 50 acres of vineyards. The original ranch buildings and farming/winery equipment are still at Ross Vineyards and it was a kick today tasting in the historic barn filled with antiques and photos. Jerry Ross is quite a character and is the main reason for the 5 stars. He was a non-stop story teller, with a Bud of all things, while his grandson was pouring wine and his wife Judy encouraged everyone to sit down and eat the hot dogs and beans that were prepared (I had a dog with the homemade beans. Very good). Jerry was a home winemaker starting in the late 90's and the winery was bonded in 2005. The tasting room opened in May, 2013 and it is a must-visit in the area for the views, the ambiance and the awesome vibes one gets from the Ross's. Married 50 years, this is how wine tasting should be: fun and unpretentious!!! (Here is what my 8 readers are waiting for) None of that fussy stuffiness and overblown pretentious nouveau-riche chateau you find at The Winery That Shall Not Be Named (although we usually do). A messy ranch with rental homes, a tasting room in a historic barn, hot dogs and beans from a crockpot and a funny dog knocking a balloon into the air with his nose until it pops. The winery sells only red wines, grown on Ross Hill Vineyard which is above the tasting barn, and they include Cabernet, Merlot, Barbera, Sangiovese, Tempranillo, Petit Syrah, Mourvedre, Malbec, Petit Verdot, Grenache, Syrah, and Zinfandel. I enjoyed the 2007 Tempranillo very much and bought two bottles. The other wines were good to very good and I think you will be surprised at the quality. Ross Hill Vineyard is two acres and the winery makes 14 barrels of wine a year. Most of the wines sell for between $20 to $25 So get away from snooty wineries (Hmmm, which one one comes to mind? Oh I remember...) where just getting a cracker, much less a taste, becomes an exercise in civil disobedience. Come out here in the beautiful backcountry of Morgan Hill and let the Ross's, on the 1st and 3rd weekend of every month, show you some true Santa Clara Valley hospitality. Highly recommended!

The beautiful home and landscape are very well kept, and the winery itself is a cozy little spot nestled along the hillside. Prior to visiting, my friend kindly called about two weeks in advance to ask permission to take her graduation photos there so we wouldn't be imposing on their property. We were told it would be perfectly fine as long as we purchased a bottle of wine, which we happily agreed to. Unfortunately, upon arriving, our experience was disappointing. The woman working in the tasting room came across as very cold and unwelcoming from the moment we walked in. She repeatedly questioned us about taking photos and stated there was a $250 insurance charge required for photography on the property. When we explained that permission had already been given over the phone, she simply responded with "okay" before ringing me up for a $49 bottle of wine. What was most disappointing was the lack of kindness and professionalism. I was genuinely excited to visit this winery and support the business, but the uncomfortable interaction completely changed my perspective on the location. Hospitality goes a long way in the winery industry, and unfortunately, we did not feel welcomed here at all. Such a beautiful property, but sadly the customer service experience left a lasting impression, and not in a positive way.

We enjoy coming to this winery from time to time. We've been here @ least a handful of times. It…read morehas wonderful views and has nice outdoor seating. So, it is perfect for a nice sunny day. In terms of drinks, we usually order the sangria to share as @ least one of the options. Then we usually play some bocce ball as well. It is actually perfect for a double date and have a game of 2v2. If that doesn't float your boat, there's also a spot to play bean bag toss as well. You'll need to ask the staff for all the playing equipment though. But don't worry there isn't any additional charge. :) I definitely recommend this winery if you happen to be close-by. Or if you just want a change of scenery. Or maybe you like friendly competition to pave the road to become a bocce world champ. Or you might just be tired of your daily pickleballing. Then, please feel free to intentionally drive over. :)

Our 7 and 2yo boys absolutely loved the animals and the very natural experience. There're dozens of hens, a few goats, ducks and even peacocks. We were especially impressed by how much attention Julian pays to safety. He separates the animals while our toddler was petting ducks.

Online Catalog offered 30 varieties to choose from for $10 a plant. However on the day, they offered 47 tomato varieties (see pic) The Local Makers Market event also had local owned business booths, from a flower van, champagne, crafts, olive oil booth, salsa booth, bath products like lotions and potions and likely a dozen more I can't recall. A food truck called "Pupusa Lady" and of course I ordered 2 empanadas. Delicious ! Parking was easy as one actually parks on the main road. Not sure if there was other parking. All in all, it was a warm breezy day and amazed how many ppl were buying these starter tomato plants. Even the owner was in the midst talking to customers. So glad they accepted plastic. Process was super easy as one finds the vanities, grab the pot (and free cardboard box, if needed), then walk to "cashier" table and pay. I bought 4 varieties : Brandywine, Nepal, Martha Washington and Tasmanian Chocolate. Tip: During the tomato season, This farm offers an honesty cart where they leave their beautiful tomatoes of the season on a cart outside and one pays based on prices and place payment in a lock box or similar. I haven't experienced that YET as tomato season is not yet here. But once summer arrives and on my way to the Gilroy Outlets, I'll be sure to buy fresh in season tomatoes.

Went cherry picking here in early June…read more Very simple. You "check in", they give you a bag(s) and a grasper for high up ones if you're serious (we weren't that serious). You walk around picking the cherries you want. The trees are marked to indicate the different varietals. You put them in your bag, and you go back to the table to pay for what you picked. Great date idea. There are a couple photo spots designed for Instagram type photos. We didn't use those, just took regular pics. And the whole thing cost like $10 for both of us. That's less than 2 coffees and you get the cherries too. Make sure to check in advance as crops aren't always predictable.

No outside bags or buckets allowed, they will give u plastics bags ... wear good shoes cuz there were many fallen cherry on certain parts and dirts on the grounds. I would recommend shoes you don't mind getting dirty or stained. Parking was small but we still found parking at the entrance maybe cuz we went toward end of the season and later in the afternoon. If going on warm spring weather , bring a hat or umbrella., there were still plenty of shades under cherry trees as walk tree to tree or row to row . We got carried away and end up picking 6 lb +, cost added up fast . 6.50$ per pound for cherry and 3.50$ / lb for apricots . Both cherry and apricots were sweet ! Distanced only 20 mins from San Jose Central area , which is great location if you are in nearby town/city .

The berries are super fresh and sweet! I feel like it's the perfect summer fruit. The darker they are, the sweeter they are but i also really like the slight tartness that the just ripe ones have as well. I picked up 2 pounds on my first go but my family and I ate it all within 3 days so I had to go back to pick up 5 more pounds. I recommend texting or calling before you go to make sure they're open as they do sell out quickly. I didn't try the u-pick as I didn't have time but I would like to try next year!

And we can see the front from there so we decided we would just walk back after. A car was coming so I told my daughter to move in so the car can pass. *HONK HONK* as if we were running. She rolls down the window and starts giving us a huge attitude about how we are not suppose to be walking around "Stay right there!" She was so completely rude I knew it had to be none other than the owner because everyone else we encountered were so kind! Literally a family with small children just walking didn't need to be honked at. We were already stopped when she approached so she could have just rolled her window down and spoke to us nicely. We didn't know there was a rule of no walking or we would have been more than happy to obligated. She should definitely have a staff member roaming the grounds instead of herself because she definitely cannot control her bad attitude and should not be out in the wild.

I recently visited Mohi Ranch, and I have to say, the atmosphere is absolutely stunning! The beautiful farm setting is perfect for a day out, with plenty of picturesque spots to take photos and relax. The ample parking made it super convenient to get in and out, which is always a plus. Now, let's talk about the bubbly rosé - it's a must-try! Crisp, refreshing, and just the right amount of bubbly, it quickly became my favorite drink of the day. However, I did have one major complaint: there are only two bathrooms on the property. With how busy the vineyard gets, the lines were ridiculous! It really took away from the overall experience, especially when you want to enjoy your time without the hassle. Overall, Mohi Ranch is a gorgeous place with great wine and amazing views. read more

I'm not super happy with Mohi right now. We were members and then they started charging us for tastings? Also, I was bringing some colleagues to the tasting room (something I'd had planned for weeks) and when we got there the tasting room was closed for a wedding? Not only is it weird to close the tasting room but they never bothered to inform the members it was going to be closed. How hard is that in the digital age? What is the point of being a member? Plus, the wine was better when it was Sycamore Creek. It's still good, but it's not great anymore. We like the olive trees and the recent landscaping in their beautiful location is enjoyable, so they will still receive 2 stars for that being well done. read more

MOHI by sycamore creek is a great winery. I stopped in while I was staying next door at thousand trails it was a very busy Saturday but our server was very sweet and apologetic. She had some of the best customer service I've seen in awhile especially since the pandemic started. I was shocked when she told me she was fairly new as she seemed like she knew a lot I don't remember her name but she was shorter with dark hair and purple/red highlights. We will be back and hope to see her again she was great and the wines were awesome my daughter even signed up for wine club because the service and the wine. read more

Our experience was mixed but our server don't know her name but she has short hair and tattoos was not attentive we were waiting 30 minutes for our two flights she didn't explain the flights our even tells us anything about the wines. I attended a wedding here on Saturday for my cousins wedding and it was such a good time. The staff, the food, everything! I lost my phone at one point and the servers maddy, Trinity, christian and cat helped me find it. I think the venue handled everything including the food, coordinators, and decor. Wine tasting in Morgan Hill? Wasn't planning on wine tasting, but a friend we were with wanted to stop by. He likes cabernet and heard it was good. Our server showed us their complimentary flight and their $5 reserve. A few of the wines were delicious, red and white. They were having a huge case sale and had some great deals. Although the pours were minimal and the place was packed, I liked that there were no bratty kids running around and we were able to enjoy ourselves instead of listening to moms yelling at their kids to behave.
