Stopped in last night with my wife and a friend and had an wonderful time! A young lady named Grace waited on us and she could have not been better. People like Grace should be teaching the art of how to treat a guest. I will return again and again. The food was excellent, and the kind and thoughtful waitress was perfect! This place was a whole experience. It was the first restaurant we went to on our recent trip to Ocala. The atmosphere was fun and there's plenty to look at. There are signs all over the ceiling. I posted the one we sat under. I got the blackened chicken quesadillas and they were so flavorful. I appreciated that they had a veggie option for a side, those were good too. I didn't try my daughter's empanadas but she loved them. I did however try her plantains & omg they were delicious! They were sweet and not dry at all! My cousin got the pork.. amazing! While the decor is nice, this some of the worst food we have ever had in Ocala. Tiny skinny burger patty that was both dry AND still greasy which is hard to do. Tasteless sandwich served with cold, severlty overcooked (or refried) fries. We will never return. Felt bad for the waitress because she was super friendly and we tipped well since it is not her fault. UGH!! read more

I'm soooo disappointed!! Just left there. My favorite dish are the Mojo pork tacos. I don't know what happened with the quality but they were not the same. I was visiting the area and drove by this on my way to my hotel, so I had to try it. Tons of seating inside. Love the decor and all the art. My waitress was fantastic and explained what was available for happy hour, her recommendations based on my possible choices and options to save money. My meal and cider was about $15, which I think is really good for what I got. I would come back if I'm in the area. The menu had a lot of great options. The restaurant is definitely the bomb!!! The atmosphere is very appealing and the ambiance is authentic. The ample space all around and height of ceilings makes you feel awesome. ( it did take almost 30 minutes to arrive and the kitchen staff were plenty but the restaurant was also busy so who knows if that was the reason for the long wait. It was 11:30 am on Thursday lunchtime). The fajitas were sizzling ( obviously... but smoking up hot steam all the neighbors while the servers carried them to your table) wow!!! Good show!! Tasty and plentiful.... so yummy!!! The plantains were fat and juicy. Just a perfect banana not too ripe or greasy to become floppy but just golden and slightly firm and delicious. Every bite was an experience surrounded in A fun and friendly environment. Definitely a go to spot and one to return back to. Our server was super friendly as well. Only thing is it did take 2 hours to get in and out for lunch on a weekday being seated early around 11:35 am so do plan a Loooooong lunch break so you don't get fired from your current job, keep clients hanging or have to rush back leaving all this colorful and delicious hot food on the table. First time, but not the last time here!! We've heard a lot of good things about this place. It has a great variety of menu items. We tried the wings - definitely get the Signature style - with Slap Yo Mama sauce. The wings are fried, then sauced, then grilled. Excellent flavor including the sauce!! They were out of potato skins so we got chips, salsa and queso. Those were excellent too. Homemade salsa - nice and fresh. Queso was good too. This place is awesome. Our server Kessy was a complete doll. She was attentive, courteous and she gave great recommendations. We got the slap ya mama wings with waffle fries and the vaca frita and added shrimp. Both amazing dishes. Very flavorful, the food was hot and fresh and it comes out in an appropriate time frame. This place inside is super cool and is child appropriate but they still serve drinks. Their drink menu was intriguing, although we opted for a cocktail the ones we saw on other peoples tables looked cool. If we come back to Ocala we for sure is stopping here. This is a local staple of Ocala and one that will not disappoint.  If you go with friends, I highly recommend you order several dishes and eat family style so you can try everything.   Beware -  the pork nachos are HUGE so you may want to get a half order or challenge yourself to eat the whole thing.  I would place bets if you do!  Tonight we got takeout.  We ordered wings, pasta and black beans and rice.   All the food is cooked to order and piping hot.  The owners are dedicated to the community and we are grateful to have them!    I also need to give a shout out to the catering side of the house.  It is amazing.  They are efficient, quick, and offer a wide array of food from extremely elegant to a very casual  We have had them do our office luncheons.  They set up, serve it, break it down, clean up and gone.  They are like friendly food ninjas! read more

I went to this location yesterday with a group of 10. I called about 10 minutes ahead and they said they could accommodate my group. When I arrived, I saw a table set up for 10 in the front and I'm not sure if because we are all black but instead of seating us out front, they literally had us wait about 7 minutes before putting together a makeshift table by THE BATHROOMS. Mind you, the restaurant was quite empty upon arrival. So it definitely was not an issue of COVID and being spaced out. They also assigned us who I'm assuming is the only black waitress/waiter working at that time. It was very insulting. Also if you see attached on their website they outline their happy hour and right under they have wines and beers that are listed as "all day, everyday." When we inquired about those specials we were told no it's only during the week. Our waitress said she talked to her manager and he should be over to clarify, HE NEVER CAME. Actually the manager did not stop by our table the entire time. Just poor management in my opinion, because again empty restaurant, so more than enough time to check on all patrons. They added things to my bill that needed to get taken off. I'm only giving two stars because although our waitress came to our table with a slight defensiveness, she was overall nice and the food is halfway decent, could use a bit more seasoning but I understand we were in Ocala. Don't recommend if you're a minority and want to be treated as less than and placed in area where they hope not many people will see you. read more

We have come here several times while in the Ocala area. The service is great. Brittney was our server and she was so attentive. We have tried the wings which were flavorful and cooked perfectly. If you choose to get the wings make sure you get them signature style with your choice of sauce. They are way better than traditional style. Their waffle fries are also delicious. Mojo definitely lands one of the friendliest food places I've ever been to! All of the servers were so genuinely nice, and the decorations are adorable. It has an authentic jazzy/blues feel with vibrant colors everywhere- a true feast for the eyes as well as your belly! Our family came for Sunday lunch before visiting Silver Springs, and we ordered the jammin jambalaya, mahi fish tacos, beef empanadas and chicken nuggets (for my younger brother). I tried some of everything and especially loved the mahi fish! It's cooked perfectly, and the dressing and lime gives it a really nice kick. The empanadas were also delicious- not too heavy even though they're friend, with generous fillings! The sides of rice/beans that came with the food were also sooo good. The jambalaya was by no means bad, I especially liked the toasted cuban bread that came with it. They also had signs out front for specials so don't miss those! I went with old faithful today with baja chicken tacos. They normally come with black rice and beans which are very good but i chose to have fried plantains today. The tacos were delicious with large grilled chicken, lettuce, pico de gallo, shredded cheese, sour cream and a delicious lime sauce. The plantains were fried and had just the right amount of brown sugar to coat the edges. I think ur was brown sugar. In any event they are always delicious and compliment any meal. The mojos brew was robust with a rich taste and didn't leave you bloated or over stuffed... just right to wash down that meal of awesomeness. I could have stayed and had another while my food digested and great music filled the air but duty calls and there's work to be done. We stopped here for dinner on our way to vacation based on recommendations for a gluten free dinner for BF. Loved the blues style decor in the restaurant. They have happy hour from 3-7pm Monday-Friday which includes $2 draft beer. I opted for a Mich Ultra. Unfortunately, they do not have a GF fryer as some reviews indicated. BF has a Cuban sandwich on GF bread & coleslaw all of which he enjoyed. Boy child had the kids chicken tenders & waffle fries and he loved them. Girl child had a pulled pork sandwich and sweet potato fries, she enjoyed the sandwich but wished there was more sauce as the pork was a little dry. I ordered the Buffalo chicken salad with grilled chicken. Chicken was cooked really well. I was surprised when the salad came out on a taco shell but it was a nice touch.
