Unsatisfied for a first time at this place I've returned to for BBQ. First off.. while in bathroom washing my hands a waitress leaves the bathroom without ever meeting the sink... Ugh. Then while seated at the bar I came across the menu with stickiness and a stain. I was surprised when looking at the signature cocktails list as it only included one whiskey/bourban/scotch cocktail despite a huge selection of this liquor on the wall. Then I ordered the nachoes app and while eating noticed barely any smoked pulled chicken and Mojo BBQ sauce (listed as the first two ingredients on the menu)... it wasn't until I was half way done that I found the chicken in a lump sum at bottom of piles of nachoes. Good news it wasn't forgotten like the sauce but not experienced until almost full. I had to add the sauce from table top squeeze tubes. Then the plates... everthing that was served came on plastic buffet like plates.with multiple scracth marks. There is a lot of work for improvement that needs to be done for a return visit to now compete with other restaurant offerings. If you are looking for standard BBQ and sides (baked beans were great) and you want to choose from 5 different sauce styles to go with your cold beer (many drafts avaialable) than this is your place. For the same price for a standard entree or app, I would lean towards more unique pairings or restaurants that focus on presentation details and quality control in kitchen before it reaches the consumer. Up your game and make Mojo BBQ stand out again like the gem it was. read more

Great service, fair prices, bbq looking place and good food. I'm not a bbq person, but this place was exceptional Al. Highly recommend.

The meat is always cooked to perfection. The sides are decent. The greens are tender but not extremely flavorful. The mashed potatoes are good but I'm not a fan of the white gravy so next time I will get them without. The jalapeño cornbread is really good. The banana pudding was way too sweet for me but my crew enjoyed it. Perfect amount of food to fill you up but not stuff you. I come here every time I'm in town because it's consistently good, not the best, but good enough to leave satisfied. The brisket and dry rub ribs are my favs so far. They have a really nice bar area. This place is in a great location in St. Augustine, went Friday after Thanksgiving after hearing a great recommendation. Parking was easy to find, and it was pretty busy but we were able to get a great table outside for a party of 7. The service was not outstanding as we waited for utensils after our appetizer were served and we pretty much used our hands. We order the fried tomatoes that were a hit on our table, just delicious. The pulled pork quesadillas were also very good. My daughter loved her meal which was a grilled cheese and fries that she mentioned were the best she had. As for my meal I ordered the two meats option pulled pork and brisket with fries and the baked beans. The brisket was good , the beans delicious but over all I wasn't impressed. She loved the French fries, but we aren't going to decide on where to eat based on fries. I didn't care for their sauces either. Mojo is a local place popping up all over the city of Jacksonville and it's surrounding areas. Each restaurant serving up good 'ole BBQ with tons of delish sides, with each place serving up a traditional flare to match the location. On this day I decided to visit the St. Augustine location, right on Cordova St....in the heart of the historical area. So beware, it can get a little busy and parking can be a nightmare....but worth it! Mojo's has a huge area for dining in and a nice patio area as well as a nice sized bar to belly up. I called in an order for pick up for lunch....and while I was there picking it up...the place started to fill up in a hurry! I had, of course, the burnt ends and black eyed peas. My friends had the pulled pork sandwich and the turkey platter. The pulled pork sandwich came with mashed potatoes and gravy, and the turkey platter came with mashed potatoes with gravy and collard greens. The only complaint was that more gravy needed to be on the potatoes. Seems like a great affordable lunch to me! read more

Place has some pretty well known smokehouse pit masters. The meat is all really tender and tasty. Their BBQ sauces are all made in house and their sides to compliment the BBQ are all made from scratch. Pretty good meal! Mike our waiter was outstanding. Omg best damn meal ever I have had so far in St. Augustine in all the years I've been coming. I had the ribeye platter with mashed potatoes, jalapeño sweet bread and Mac n cheese. My husband did the two meat combo, he chose pork and sausage which was amazing. He loved his sides that were baked beans, Texas toast and sweet potato mash. Our appetizer were the onion rings and the batter had a nice pepper flavor. In the future when we come down we will be coming back for sure!!!! read more

We had the opportunity to try Mojo's BBQ and it was totally worth the try! The BBQ chicken nachos were enough for two meals and the Smitty sandwich and fresh cut fries were delicious. This was the last place we visited before driving back home to Miami. The restaurant was pretty empty, only one more table was occupied other than ours but that may have been due to the fact that it was 1145 AM when we ordered our lunch. For an appetizer we ordered their burnt ends, which were literal to the term, very burnt and dry. For entrees, we ordered a few meats, their brisket, the pulled pork, sausage, and turkey breast. The best meat was definitely the sausage and pulled pork which tasted great. The brisket was overcooked for our taste, the wings were bland and so was the turkey breast. The sides that came with the meal were the mac and cheese and coleslaw. Their Mac and Cheese was very good, meanwhile the cole slaw was just okay. I will say that their service was awesome. Our waiter was prompt and kept asking if there waa anything else we needed. What hit the mark for us was the food. We probably won't return here if we were in the St. Augustine area, plenty of other great restaurants to visit. read more

Every so often you have a meal that is truly special. One that you will talk about for days. Well, one such meal for myself took place at Mojo. Service was fast and friendly. Happy hour specials were good, but the food... oh my the food. The ribs were perfectly cooked, with a thick and tasty skin. The pulled pork was moist and smoky. The mac n cheese (my fav) was to die for. We also got fried pickles with the AMAZING chipotle ranch. Every single item of food was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Absolutely blown away at how good our meal was. Also, the portion sizes were very fair for the price. If you're just glancing at this to see if you should go, do it. My boyfriend and I are here in St. Augustine for our first vacation in a very long time. We are pure workaholics, so this was an important trip for us. We LOVE BBQ and always try to find the good places when we go out of town. This place did NOT disappoint. We got the combo for three meats (pulled pork, brisket, ribs), boom boom shrimp, and several different sides (Mac n cheese, mashed potato's, coleslaw) and everything was completely amazing!!! We alerted stunned to be honest. Had all your standard bbq sauces, but they were unique to anything we've tasted at other bbq joints and they just made it that much better. The restaurant has great AC, as it's July and very hot outside. Fast, super friendly service. Ryan was our bartender and he was great!!! Super helpful, nice, and attentive. If you are in the mood for some great barbecue in St. Augustine than Mojo delivers on everything from the meats to the sides!!! Our server Bryan was simply terrific! Fun and witty he went through the specials and the menu. Told us what was popular and explained the process of smoking. He also told us about an amazing chipotle sauce which is table side. We liked it so much that we brought some home. We started with the onion rings!!! The ranch which they make in house is AMAZING! We also ordered from the kids menu and I was surprised at the portion size and quality of food. We ordered quesadilla with apple juice along with corn! My wife had the Mahi Mahi blackened with corn, corn bread and hand cut French fries!! She couldn't make me stay away from her fries! All reviews suggested the burnt tips. We ordered it as soon as we sat down. And its beyond salty! Pur server apologized for it and actually offered if we want another plate to try- he did explain since it's the tips of the smoke meat it will be salty (per the chefs when he asked them). The salmon we ordered was great! Our server, was amazing. He split the salmon with me and my husband when he served it. That's why were giving it 4 stars because of the amazing service and the salmon. Patio is pet friendly and our furbaby enjoyed smelling all the meat. By the way, parking is really hard. We took a shuttle that goes around town from the Inn were staying at. As of October 2019, the shuttle driver said that they are available to anyone in the surrounding area for $3 each if the hotel/inn your staying at doesnt offer the shuttle service. read more

My family went here for lunch for my bday and we accidently parked in an employee parking area there was one sign for 5 of the 10-12 spots they had so after we are we walked around for 20 mins. When we get back to the car the catering van was parked behind us. We politely ask someone to move it but it turned into 5 or 6 employees following us outside to argue and fuss. This is a great little barbeque place just inside the ancient city gates on Cordova Street. It does have a small parking lot, but we ended up parking a few blocks away. They have an extensive selection of bourbons and Buffalo Trace is their house bourbon. I had the Kentucky Mule, which is similar to a moscow mule except with bourbon. It was really refreshing. Husband had a classic Old Fashioned, and it was very well made. Now for the food. I had pulled pork shoulder with green beans and brunswick stew. Husband had pulled pork and brisket with smoked corn and cole slaw. Everything was amazing! Both meats were incredibly moist and tender. They provide 5 sauces that were all unique, my favorite was the mojo sauce. We sat at the bar and had excellent service and friendly conversation with the bar staff. Definitely recommend Mojo and we'll be back the next time we're in St. Augustine. read more

Since we usually travel with our dog, right off the bat if you are dog friendly AND have excellent reviews we are probably gonna stop and check you out, and this stop was well worth it! Everything on the menu looked delicious and we definitely wanted to try more things, but we restrained ourselves somewhat and only ordered enough food for 4 people instead of a small army. We started off with the onions rings and smoked chicken wings. The onion ring order was huge and delicious. The batter had a great blend of spices and you could definitely tell the onions had been dipped in buttermilk, giving them a nice texture. The smoked winged where smoke before hand then quickly fried giving them unique flavour and texture. They were juice, unlike many other places that end up with dry wings when they try to smoke them. My husband had The "Smitty", which was a sandwich made of beef brisket, smoked sausage with house mustard, cheddar cheese and onions. Everything together made a perfect combination of BBQ flavours. The smoked sausage gave the sandwich a snappy, crunchy texture. It came with a side and he went with the Mac & cheese, which was creamy and had a crumble crust. I had the brisket burnt ends, it was probably the best thing on the menu. They were so flavourful. The perfect combination of fatty meat and they melted in your mouth. The rub that they used was delectable. I was so fully and wanted to keep eating. I also got two sides, the mac & cheese and a piece of jalapeno cornbread. The cornbread needed a bit of butter, but you could taste the jalapeno. Lastly the service, was amazing. Everyone was pleasant and happy. Went to St Augustine for a weekend and definitely a must try if you love BBQ! The meals are pretty hefty so we definitely had leftovers. I'd love to come back if I'm in the area again. Food: Ordered Beef brisket which was good but parts of it were a little dry. Nothing that couldn't be fixed with adding their BBQ sauce though!
