My boyfriend and I are here in St. Augustine for our first vacation in a very long time. We are pure workaholics, so this was an important trip for us. We LOVE BBQ and always try to find the good places when we go out of town. This place did NOT disappoint. We got the combo for three meats (pulled pork, brisket, ribs), boom boom shrimp, and several different sides (Mac n cheese, mashed potato's, coleslaw) and everything was completely amazing!!! We alerted stunned to be honest. Had all your standard bbq sauces, but they were unique to anything we've tasted at other bbq joints and they just made it that much better. The restaurant has great AC, as it's July and very hot outside. Fast, super friendly service. Ryan was our bartender and he was great!!! Super helpful, nice, and attentive. Mojo Old City BBQ boasts a closing time of 11:00 PM. While walking into the restaurant at 9:48 PM we were told that the restaurant is closed by a server attending to some guests outside. read more

This is great BBQ! We loved this place. We let the staff know we were on a quick time schedule because we had a tour scheduled in an hour. They seated us quickly and got our food out fast! My sister and I were not in the mood for a huge meal and split a dinner. The waitress split the plate for us without us ever asking! I loved all the different sauces you could add to your meat. The Chipoltle, Mojo and Sweet and Sour were my favorites. The appetizer of Burnt Ends was a hit at our table. . The brisket was delicious and the pulled pork was perfect! For sides, I wouldn't recommend the black eyed peas, they were a little bland and mushy and the coleslaw was just average. I had a Sangria to drink and it was not too sweet! Stopped in on a Wednesday evening for some dinner. Came in and was seated immediately. The place is actually quite big. Everything was absolutely amazing. Had to get the burnt ends app...utterly spectacular. Incredible flavor and very juicy. Also consumed the brisket reuben sandwich with a side of baked beans. The sandwich was phenomenal. Stopped in for lunch today and so glad we did. Monique D was our server and she did a great job. I had the BBQ Reuben. I chose pork brisket as my meat. It also had coleslaw, jack cheese and thousand island dressing. My side was the pit beans which were good served like they were but I added some sweet bbq sauce and some chipotle bbq sauce. My husband ordered the smoked chicken nachos and he said they were very good. He also added some sweet bbq sauce and some chipotle bbq sauce to his nachos. Went to MoJo's BBQ today to celebrate my good friend Ron Kerr's Birthday with 10 friends. My wife and I had been there before and yesterday my wife and three of her lady friends stopped for lunch and loved it. Back to today. My family went here for lunch for my bday and we accidently parked in an employee parking area there was one sign for 5 of the 10-12 spots they had so after we are we walked around for 20 mins. When we get back to the car the catering van was parked behind us. We politely ask someone to move it but it turned into 5 or 6 employees following us outside to argue and fuss. Another star in the Mojo family. Glad you've finally arrived! This is, by far, the largest of the various Mojo locations. Menu is pretty much the same as Mojo #4. Full bar service. It's in the historic district, about 2 blocks from "the fort," so parking may be an issue. There is a lot beside the building which can accommodate 7 or 8 vehicles, one space is a handicapped space. You might consider parking at the garage about a block away. I had a Mojo Mary with my dinner tonight (even though it was the "wrong" time of day for this drink) and it was amazing. Could really taste the bacon in the vodka, and the smoked salt on the rim and okra garnish complimented the drink nicely. Your choice of dining indoors, front patio, or back patio. I believe they allow smoking at the back patio. As with the other locations, lots of cool art; most of it by Nicklos. They are planning to add live music, so keep an eye out for that! read more

This is a solid, good BBQ place. Few places in Florida seem to really get BBQ, but they get it here. The place is popular, and thankfully it's pretty large. There is a lot of seating and a sizable bar too. They have a lot of local beers - which is nice to try and drink like a local while you're in town. Be sure to branch out and try one of the local brewery's beers whole here. Service was OK - a bit slow and we had trouble getting plates for appetizers. They were busy and seemed to have a lot of tables per server - so I'm no fully blaming them. Food ranged in how much I like it. We started with the burnt brisket ends which I loved - minus the fat pieces as I don't love fat - but they were yummy. The mojo and sweet sauces (they have 4 different sauces on the table) were my favorite with them. I ordered the brisket with Mac and cheese and green beans.my husband got turkey and pulled pork with fries and corn. The meats were all good - the brisket and pulled pork being the best. They were definitely smoked and done right. The sides I could have passed on - the Mac and cheese was the best, but was more buttery than cheese and a bit overcooked. The corn was fine - pretty much just buttered corn. Off the cob. Fairly forgettable. The green beans were flavorless. The fries were well cooked but so covered in sea salt they mostly tasted of salt. Ask for them unsalted then salt them yourself - I love salt and thought it was too much. I would definitely suggest this as a great place to atop in while at St. Augustine. I grabbed some food to go but couldn't help myself with snacking on a half order of fried green tomatoes while I was still there because I was starving. It was like I couldn't feed my face quick enough and pretty much burned the roof of my mouth shoveling these delicious beauties down. Totally worth it. While the ribs were pretty tasty some of the burnt end pieces were disappointingly dry. Not all of the pieces, but some, which is enough to give me an overall bad taste. The leaner meat pieces were stringy and tasted like it had either been sitting out too long or overcooked. Both meats, however, tasted great on their own flavor-wise. Seasoned nicely but also with a strong peppery taste which I liked. The collards were a little bitter and were a bit plain but I was a huge fan of the mashed potatoes. With the exception of the drier burnt ends, I found myself enjoying the food here and wouldn't mind getting another meal to go. Solid bbq joint. read more

Had a tasty meal here while touring the oldest city. Who would've thought they would have a BBQ joint in this charming old town. Two of us had the two meat combo each and the burnt ends to start. Burnt ends were good, we got a lot of pieces with fat on it, I loved it but my SO didn't. The flavor was so good on these. Every combo comes with your choice of two sides. Here's the breakdown: Pork shoulder: Skip it. Not sure why it's one of the top three highlights. No flavor and the texture was too slimy. Dry rub ribs: Delicious, didn't try it with BBQ sauce (the horror - I know), but they were amazingly charred and packed with flavor. Hot links: So underrated, these were so amazing. Not that spicy for those who can't take spicy food. Half chicken: great dry rub on there and delicious juicy chicken. Mac and cheese was tasty and creamy and the fries were awesome. You can tell they're double fried, they were so crispy. I had the painkiller cocktail and loved every sip. Coconut lovers: this is your drink. It was pretty strong too. As my trip through Florida continues, I am lucky to find more 4.5* spots to dine at. Mojo was a pretty easy choice for dinner as it was after 10pm and most places in St. Augustine were closed. I was planning on sitting at a table outside, but the hostess recommended the bar. Glad I went there. The bartender Evan was super friendly and helpful. Not overly friendly like some bartenders are, but just a super nice dude. We chatted about our favorite DJ's and I got a recommendation for today's drive to Savannah, GA. Pretty cool. As for the food? I was going to get a brisket sandwich, but Evan told me to get the reuben which had brisket in it. Only a $1, why not. I was not disappointed as it was really good with HUGE chunks of brisket in it. Perfect meat, really good sandwich. I just wish the bread wasn't plain bread, but I guess the meat was the star here. It also came with a side and I followed Yelp's recommendation for sweet potato mash. Delicious with big bits of cinnamon in it. As I was sitting at the bar, I got talked into trying a new beer from St. Petersburg. I think the brewery was Three Sisters or Three Wives? Either way, the three ladies did well as my beer was the perfect way to cool down before my meal. Tax and tip included, it was a $20 meal which is pretty good in my book. So we hit this place up on our drive into St. Augustine since it's a little more on the outer edges than some of the main places closer to the historic district. Yelp had some good reviews and we were inspired all the more once we saw that info. You can smell the BBQ from the car and it just makes your stomach growl with anticipation really. We were offered the option for indoor / outdoor seating, but the outside was pretty packed, so we opted to sit in the great indoors instead. I had the two meat plate with two sides. She had the chicken and sides. You can really tell that they cook the meats for an extended time and it is tender and tasty. They have optional sauces on the table so you can jazz up the flavor the way you like it. We saw banana pudding on the menu and saved room for that since we really love a good old fashioned style banana pudding and haven't had it really well made in awhile. This one was definitely worth saving room for - so get it! Staff was friendly and quick. Food was tasty. Decor was fun and eclectic - looked like local artisans (could be wrong) - but it's fun either way. Dessert rocked. Make this a part of your trip if you can! read more

This Mojo location is a little hidden off the beaten path in downtown St. Augustine, so you need to have a keen eye/ look up at street signs in order to really see it. Once inside the staff was friendly and inviting, and quickly provided the desirable outside table. My friends and I are in the back patio area. Downside to this is that the building blocks any potential breeze that would/ could come through to cool the place off. Installing a fan would be a nice added touch to generate some movement and fresh air back there. To drink I have a water and house Bloody Mary. They do have a Bloody Mary that has bacon infused vodka which I heard was great, but I went with standard Titos. The Mary wasn't spicy which was a bit of a let down, but definitely tolerable. I got vegetarian sides platter and chose the following: Texas toast, fries, mac and cheese, and corn. The meal came with jalapeños cornbread. The mac and cheese was great, and the corn was spot on. The fries were seasoned well and served as the perfect excuse to consume BBQ sauce. There wasn't anything too special about the toast. I'm not a huge cornbread fan, so I was indifferent about that. My friends that got meat all raved about their dishes: pulled pork quesadilla, burnt ends, blackened chicken, and some sort of turkey sandwich. I wouldn't say this is the best BBQ I've personally had, but I would 110% say it's worth it! read more

Went here with my daughter and her husband and 3 kids - ages 4, 2 and Newborn while visiting the city. Food is FABULOUS!! We had between us Burnt Ends, Brunswick Stew, and Pull Pork sandwich. All very good! The sides smashed potatoes and collard greens were excellent as well. Appetizers fried green tomatoes were ehhh - so so - but the fried pickles were some of the best we've had.
