MoJo's was right in the heart of the downtown St. Augustine action and not even a block away from the Bed and Breakfast we were staying at for the weekend. We have eaten at the Jacksonville locations so we knew the food would be good. Nice outside seating street side. Seating was fast and efficient. The server was really nice and personable and attended to us just the right amount. If you want BBQ this is the place. We started with the Smoked Chicken Nachos which were excellent. Margaritas and craft beer were served up cold and fast. They have a good bar and vast selection on tap including local crafts and national brands. Next was the Blackened Mahi sandwich with a side. I know, I know (not BBQ) but excellent large portion which we split. Served hot and right on time. Another round of drinks and dinner was concluded. Baked beans are best in the business as well as many other sides to choose. They have excellent choices of sauces that cater to almost any taste. Their chicken nachos are the best nachos I've ever had topped with a generous portion of chicken, cheese, tomatoes, jalapenos and barbecue sauce. We were looking for a place to eat dinner before our tour. We found it by looking on here. They were a lot of tables open so there was no wait. I ordered the 2 combo with brisket and North Carolina pork. It also came with 2 sides so I decided on dirty rice and fries. Everything was so good, brisket was tender and the pork was flavorful. It was quite empty (maybe due time and day of week), but it was clean and the ambiance was serene. I ordered the Buttermilk Fries Chicken with the BBQ pit beans and mashed potatoes. My wife ordered the Pull Pork with sweet potato mas and smoked yellow corn. The Buttermilk Chicken was good, nothing out of this world. The pulled pork was more enticing. The jalapeño cornbread was delicious and not to hot, yet on the sweet side. All the sides were very well prepared and pleasantly tasty.I did find the Buttermilk Chicken a little pricey ($16.50) but the portion was plentiful with two sides. The first step in a good review in my mind is the service. Our waiter was excellent. We started out with some cheese fries with bacon and pulled pork. They did not last long between the 4 of us. I had the brisket and smoked turkey. Both excellent choices. Try the mojo sauce. The main ingredient is smoked tomatoes!! The mojo sauce was awesome. Just went here for dinner tonight. Before you even get in the restaurant, you can smell the smoker outside and the smell is heavenly. It beckons you in. The ambience is what I'd expect from a barbecue place- rustic, simple, comfortable. This will definitely be a return spot. In fact, I'll probably be back for lunch tomorrow. That's how awesome this place was. I recommend the beef brisket burnt ends as an appetizer- the bark was awesome, and the flavors were on point. In true barbecue joint style, there were five sauces on the table. I tried three of the five, the chipotle (spicy, but not too bad), sweet and the signature mojo. All were great. For my entree, I got the two meats option, and chose the beef brisket and pulled pork, with the Mac and cheese and baked beans as sides. It was AMAZING. Everything was awesome- the flavor on the meat was great, the Mac and cheese was perfectly creamy, and the beans had a great smoky flavor. This is a restaurant with delicious bbq options and pet friendly! I had awesome pulled pork with beans and salad. Our waiter provided water for our small dog (we had our own collapsible bowl and dog snacks).
