The sandwiches here are really good, and big too. I'm one of those people who likes their sandwiches very basic, almost boring. I got the philly steak, with just cheese. The meat is very flavorful and the boardwalk fries are my all time favorite. With Covid, we got a pickup order. No problems with that either. I will go back here again when it reopens, assuming our world assumes a semi normal condition. They did not have soup when I went, but I'm sure the menu was somewhat limited. I had been wanting to go here for a while and finally got a chance to check it out recently as I was near the area where Mojo's is located. I had heard good things about this restaurant so I was definitely curious to check it out. The restaurant is spacious, well lit and the ordering part is easy. It's counter service so you look up the menu from the board (on the wall) and go from there. Since it was my first time here, I went with their (basic Philly Cheesesteak with Wiz and hot peppers. I have had Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches, both in Philly and Chicago before. I have had just so-so to decent sandwiches in Chicago prior to having Mojo's. After having Mojo's cheesesteak sandwich, I felt that they are on just another level of cheesesteak sandwiches, like in the upper echelon of good sandwiches. The sandwich I had was oozing with delicious goodness of flavor. The bread was soft; the meat was tender, properly shaved and cooked, not greasy and it had just the right amount of cheese whiz to my liking. They don't skimp on the amount of meat in the sandwich either. I really enjoyed my sandwich. Also worth mentioning are the hand-cut fries which come with your sandwich (there's an option to upgrade the fries as well). The fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with some potato skin on the outside. They were really good. Neither the sandwich, nor the fries were greasy. That's a plus for me. I wish I had room to eat an additional sandwich as I wanted to try more but that'll have to wait till next time...heheh! I received good service. The prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get. Mojo's has a good variety of options on their menu from food to drinks. I liked their sandwich options a lot and they also have beer (bottled and tap) along with soft drinks. They also have a couple of t.v.'s for your viewing pleasure. I recently tried a few sandwiches from Mojo's and I'm sorry to say I am unimpressed. Cheesesteak with provolone: I like the bun, didn't care for the dried out meat and lack of onions and cheese. The flavor is not comparable to true cheesesteaks from philly and their meat is not properly chopped. Pat's, John's, and even the crappy Geno's are much better than the product from mojo's. I will not be getting this again. The Duke: This is their take on an Italian sub. Pass. Their meats are decent, but their oil and vinegar is lacking and they put mayo on the sub as well! I'm all for Mayo, but it has no place on an Italian Sub. Get outta here with that! The Tommy Boy: Turkey, Ham, Bacon, lettuce, tomato, etc. I thought this one was decent. The flavors were complimentary and pleasant. Overall, this is an average sandwich place, with above average prices, in area with a plethora of better choices. I thought we were going at a regular dinner hour, 6:30p on a Saturday night, but when we arrived the staff had all the dinner tables pulled to one side and were mopping the floor. I like cleanliness, but not while I am dining. I ordered the Philly roast pork sandwich with broccoli rabe & sharp provolone and it must have been the "last one" because they promptly pulled it down as the "daily special". I wish they would have "run out" before I ordered, rather than after because this sandwich was not good. My husband had the Philly cheese and it was better but did not meet the hype. Stopped here last evening after reading about the outstanding Philly Cheesesteaks. People were friendly and service was good. A friend suggested I try this place and I'm so glad I did! I have been to Philly many times and I love a good cheesesteak with cheese whiz! I ordered the cheesesteak with onions and mushrooms with cheese whiz and an order of the fries with crab spice. The sandwich itself is big! The bread was soft but still stayed whole with all the meats and toppings. The ribeye was tender, juicy and thinly sliced. I was nervous the mushrooms and onions might overwhelm the sandwich and luckily I was wrong! Everything was well mixed with a good portion of cheese whiz and it all melted in your mouth when you were eating it. The crab spice fries tasted like the east coast version of Cajun fries. Really good cheesesteak, and really good fries. Ive been to philly and i had a philly cheese steak, not impressed, they generally lack seasoning imo. But mojo's gets it right. Nicely seasoned, moist shaved ribeye, on a soft fluffy sandwich roll. Add provolone, onions and maybe mushrooms, your in business. The regular hoagie sandwiches are even tasty. They have soup and chili also, haven't had in a while but from what I can remember it wasn't bad at all. And you can order what they call halfsies which is any cheesesteak or hoagie in half, if your not really wanting a lot. There's literally nothing ive had here that I didn't like. read more

This was a great place for a cheesesteak. I really enjoyed the sandwich. The meat was tender and the toppings were great. I also really enjoyed their fries. However, I tried their crab spice fries and though I did enjoy the flavor...they simply put too much seasoning. It was incredibly salty. Very hard to eat. This place used to be one of my local favorites, it isn't anymore. With the change in ownership the changes made have all been for the worse starting with the decor. With the new owners they slapped Chicago sports team stickers on the walls even though it has nothing to do with the theme or the restaurant. It actually go against the east coast eats theme. Also, the new signage is garish. This could be overlooked if the food was great but that's the worst change. The food used to be AMAZING but now, with the ownership changes the quality of the ingredients has plummeted as has the sandwiches themselves. Now they're mediocre at best. Mojo's is one of the best places in the Chicagoland area to grab a cheesesteak sandwich. I grew up frequenting the great steak and potato factory chain and since they've left the local area options have been few and far between. When I had mojo's and realized it was way better than my childhood favorite it went on my short list of places in the suburbs to get amazing food. I think this is my second review ever but I was compelled to write one today after having lunch at Mojo's. First let me start by saying I've been eating here for years and everyone knows this is my go to, very favorite cheese steak spot. I have not ordered in a few months because I was out of town quite a bit so today when a new coworker was looking for lunch spot, I highly recommended Mojo's. I could not say enough fabulous things about their chicken cheesesteaks. I did warn him that the price was a little high for a sandwich place but I assured him it was well worth the money. Based on my referral my coworker ordered lunch and I had to place an order too. Let me just say, I have never been so embarrassed. My 1/2 cheesesteak (that used to be a healthy size with plenty of meat on a fabulous roll) for $13.99, is now literally on a hotdog bun. There was not even enough meat to cover the small bun. I'm not lying when I say that one end of the bun had no meat. My coworker ordered the full cheesesteak, although I did not see his sandwich, I asked him what he thought and he said it was very small. He said it looked like a hot dog bun but a little longer and not worth the almost $20 that he spent. I apologized repeatedly and told him the last time I ate at Mojo's the sandwiches were on different buns, much larger and plenty of meat. Unfortunately, I think Mojo's just lost a new customer and an old customer at the same time. Dear Mojo's, I know times are tough and your prices have already gone up over the last few years, which I understood. But you should never have changed your food. As a Philly-area native and recent transplant to the Chicagoland area, I had high hopes for this place to provide me the taste of home I've been missing. It's fair to say Mojo's misses the mark. I ordered a cheesesteak with F/O and mushrooms. The F/O were practically raw, and overall it tasted like I was eating a shredded meatloaf sandwich. Yes, I closed my eyes and it tasted just like meatloaf. I'm unsure of the type of meat being used here, but it surely isn't ribeye like the top places in Philly use. I also ordered a South Philly hoagie. I chose this over an Italian (a Philly staple) because their Italian had pepperoni on it--an immediate red flag. The South Philly was okay, but it was light on meat. The biggest issue for me was the lettuce and tomato. I know this may seem minor, but any Philadelphian will agree that the veggies on a hoagie are important. Fresh shredded iceberg lettuce and a large on the vine tomatoes should be used. This place used shredded romaine and roma tomatoes. If the ingredients on their Italian didn't prove to me that this place is an imposter, the lettuce and tomato selection surely did. I'm sure if you don't know any better, you'd probably think this place serves up good sandwiches. The meat and the way it is shaved is really good. The bread is not the best sub bread, dry crumbly and too "bready". The fries were delicious, feels like a lot of attention to detail goes into making these so they really are a treat. Like most hand made fries though, they should be eaten in house because they go cold and soggy by the time you are home but that's just part of any home made fries enjoy them right away! We've eaten here a few times and my husband and kids always love it. I like their veggie hoagie enough (I'm a vegetarian), and I "get" that's not their main focus. We've always dined in when we've eaten here before, but tonight we carried out. I don't know what happened, but my veggie hoagie bread was SOAKED... on the outside! I've been eyeing this place for at least 6 months but never finding the time to go and pop into Mojo's East Coast Eats due to always running late for college classes (oops!). Today during my lunch break at work I decided "why not?" and man am I happy I went! The exterior of MECE (abbreviated) is very clean cut from the road and has curb appeal to those driving by. Another pro of the location of this restaurant is that they have free parking and the lot is quite large so there is no shortage of space here haha! The interior of MECE is very clean cut and sharp - and also inviting with multiple tables. The menu is vast and there is plenty to choose from. Because it was my first time here I decided to ask the cashier what he would recommend and he said - the cheesesteak is the way to go. He was right because it is hot and fresh - and the meat was tender so the sandwhich was juicy but not soggy which was great.
