Visited on Sunday before ST Patty's. Went to see Piper Dream to see Coryanne with her bag pipes! Excellent music and dance area. Decided to have Irish food since that was the menu for the night. My friend had the shepherds pie and it was HORRIBLE. If you could find a carrot you were lucky never mind any of the other veggies. The potatoes were little scoops plopped around the top, no cheese. Bland and horrible. Worse Shepherds Pie ever. I had the corned beef reuben and the corned beef looked like scraps that should have been used on nachos instead of a sandwich. There were some strips of CB with sauerkraut and the swiss made the rest of the sandwich OK. Would go back for the music but would not have food here. Waitresses were not as attentive as they should have been as we had empty glasses of Guiness and needed refills and had to wait along time to get them to swing by. Excuse twice was the Guiness kicked? I can see 1 time, but not 2 in a short time. If you want authentic Irish fare go somewhere else. read more

Went to check out a band here. It's a big place really nice great venue for a band. We ordered quesadillas, nachos, and wings, standard pub fare. The Irish quesadillas were fantastic! Love the corn beef and cabbage inside. Regular nachos were OK, they were missing key elements of nachos. No jalapeños, no salsa, no guac. Pretty lackluster. This place is great! The wait staff and bartending staff are very friendly. Service is good, but can be a little slow at the bar on busy nights. The ambiance is really cool. This bar was always my go to but after tonight I will no longer give any of my money here. Went in with my cousin for her 21st birthday to have some drinks and sing karaoke. I didn't realize you had to be perfect to sing Karaoke. This bar lets disgusting customers boo others on stage and lets them stay there. A group that was there was continuously being rude and disrespectful to us and when I asked for them to be removed nothing was done. They were booing, laughing and making fun of us. Sat at the bar during happy hour. Wasn't very busy. Bartender was friendly and attentive. Food was a miss for me. The loaded pretzel fries sounded so good but were more of a toasted chip than a fry, and the cheese sauce didn't taste right. Wings were ok. Well, date night. My date (now girlfriend) and I decided to go because they planned a Halloween party. We arrived early and had dinner. She ordered the herb crusted salmon and I ordered the chicken club wrap. The food came fast and was delicious! Her salmon was cooked to perfection and sides were piping hot. My wrap was exceptional and definitely hit the spot! The party began and the music was loud. Not too loud either. The place looked like it was set up for Halloween and the decorations were excellent. Was visiting from out of town and wanted to get out of the hotel and hear some music on a Saturday night. This place was great! Servers John and Jill were exceptional! And so was Jorge! In addition, the security guards added to the feeling of safety for a woman alone. Band, "Junk" (90's and 00's alterative rock) was great as well! All talented musicians and "tight!" Came for a quick bite and got great service from Kaya. Out of all the average pub fare (skip the nachos) the shrimp po boy was fantastic. Love that it's sautéed shrimp instead of fried. Place has a great tavern feel to it and love what they did for the holiday. (Get here before 10 if you're coming on the weekend because it turns into a club) One gripe I have is the front door. The best times I've ever had here were when I was black out drunk with borderline liver failure. Every employee, bartender, and security guard I've ever spoken to or interacted with were the best humans to ever exist. Dj is always fire. The ambiance makes me feel at home every time I'm here. During Tuesday night's line dance session where I was guest instructing, I was told by someone named Justin that "this is not a dance hall" and that diners were complaining about the lesson track being played more than once. Here's the thing--there were only two diners (I checked), and the place advertises Tuesday evening as "line dancing night" on the marquee when you walk in the front door. Folks were either drinking at the bar or dancing on the dance floor to the line dance DJ. In my 30 years of traveling the world and teaching/entertaining at a multitude of different venues, I've never been treated so rudely. First time here, and don't quite know what to make of this place/restaurant/entertainment venue The GOOD - in early, great service, nice setup for our large party in the back along the wall. The Irish Nachos were delish, and the French Dip and fries were AOK, albeit a bit light on the roast beef, with tasty gravy and crispy fries. No cover charge if you arrive early for dinner. People watching readily available after the music starts. Big dance floor, lotsa fun. The MEDIOCRE - the bottle of wine on the list (one of five reds) but none in the house. The band was a mix of Irish, pop rock and classic rock. From Johnny Cash to Irish jig. Weird. After 10, the place is not big enough. The BAD - the bass is over the top. Gets really busy and crowded after 10. Once it got crazy, the service completely disappeared. Took 1/2 hour to find someone with our check after alerting the lady in the coat check to our plight. The UGLY - smoking in the pool room filters into the restaurant, as does the lady smoking in the coat check. The tiny, disgusting, filthy, two unisex bathrooms in the back, servicing 100+ people. Based on the reputation of Irish and English food and restaurants, and actual personal experience, one wouldn't expect much at an Irish restaurant. I got a recommendation to Molly Darcy's for corned beef and cabbage on St Patrick's Day to take home to the family; that turned out to be very good - quite ample portions of lean corned beef, not overcooked, cabbage and boiled potatoes. The food was ready when I showed up to pick it up, and we all enjoyed it for dinner. The next week, the rest of the family was out, so I stopped on the way home to try Molly's for dinner. Sat at the bar and ordered from a pretty varied menu and good selection of specials. I was surprised at the quantity of food in the surf & turf that I ordered off the Specials list - all perfectly cooked. I'm pretty fussy about how much food gets cooked, and the sirloin steak was cooked rare, as I ordered it, the grilled shrimp similarly moist with a delicious grilled flavor, and the crab cake full of crab and not doughy like some tend to be. There was a creamy hollandaise sauce over the sea food and a delicious brown sauce around the steak. I don't usually go for sauces with my food; I like the stand-alone food flavor. But I tried them and loved them. I ordered fries for the carb, and they were hot and perfectly semi-crisp - delicious. The plate also included 3 steamed vegetables - broccoli, carrots and small potato pieces, all cooked au point, as they should be. I couldn't believe I kept eating, but I ordered the bread pudding for dessert, together with an Irish coffee. The bread pudding was hot and almost as good as mine that I used to sell to rave reviews in my deli 35 years ago. The 2 Guinnesses I drank with the meal - different for me, because my preferred ablution is usually Cabernet Sauvignon - were perfectly poured with the 1" cream head. Nothing is cheap these days, but I felt that for the quality, quantity and expert preparation of my dinner, it was excellent value. There are 2 bars, or maybe one that wraps around a center wall across the middle of the restaurant. I sat at the bar in the back. It was in a huge room area with a couple of high tables and stools and a stage where they have performers on Saturday nights and dancing. Brian, the bartender, was very attentive and amicable. When I was there, it was fairly quiet with recorded music playing and a few of what appeared to be regulars at the bar. I can imagine that it can get much more lively when a band and all the activity picks up on a Saturday night, but when I was there, I was very pleased with the ambiance, the service, and, most importantly, the food. I highly recommend Molly Darcy's, and, even though it's 45 minutes from home, I plan to bring my family back for dinner. It's great! read more

Stopped in at Molly's on a quiet Saturday afternoon for a quick bite to eat. Conveniently located off the highway with plenty of parking. Our family would come here in years past for fun St.Patrick's day gatherings, but none of us live here anymore. Anyway, I sat at the bar and enjoyed a Guinness. So, the sandwich I ordered was the Avocado Grilled Cheese! This sandwich is the definition of yumminess! Avocado, bacon, cheddar cheese & Swiss cheese on buttered toast. So good! Molly Darcys has been around a while! This is a classic Irish pub with great food, drinks and service. But....it is an Irish Pub that doubles as a big dance club at night any day of the week! Yes, I love their food but I danced here on nickel night when I was in college! On any week night or weekend afternoon this is a great choice for a really great meal! No lines, lovely staff and owner that is consistently making improvements. Soups , starters, salads and awesome entrees! This establishment has made changes to larger menu to just make it more concise. Always great daily specials every evening! So dinner is done! I love the salads and salmon entree and also beef stroganoff and burgers. The drinks were horrible. The whole table agreed. There were so very weak so we ask for a double. They charged us 20 dollars for a double and STILL could not taste any alcohol and it was so sweet we couldnt drink it, and they still tried to charge us for it. We ordered potato skins and when they got to the table we were surprised to see 3 small potato skins, not potatoes, just 3 pieces, and I think they were 12 or 14 dollars. We stopped here after getting massages. Really nice environment. I like the dim lighting as it gives a good Irish Pub feel. One thing I noticed on the menu was the Sheppard's Pie. We were in Danbury for a family funeral and my cousin took me here for dinner. She and I had traveled to Ireland together last year so it seemed like our kind of place. It was! Laid back atmosphere, the Guiness Beer tasted smooth like it does in Ireland and the shepherds pie was really tasty. Nice staff as well. Great for live music and drinks, but can get crazy and very crowded. This is probably the biggest bar in the Danbury area and it has a big dance floor and plenty of room for indoor and outdoor dining. The bar staff is outstanding and the prices are pretty good. Live bands play and it does get loud. Another plus is the late hours and TONS of TVs. When school is in session the crowd is mainly college students. Otherwise in the off-season and on weeknights, most of this people who come here are 35+. Parking might be difficult on Saturday nights! They do have bouncers and there's usually a cover Friday and Saturday nights. On those nights, be prepared, this place can be extremely crowded. Overall, if you want a fun place with a great bar and friendly staff, this is your place to go. If you don't like crowded places or very loud music, you may want to pass. I was on the fence between giving this place a 4 or 3-star rating, but it's still one of the better happening places to go in Danbury. read more

It's a bar, and it's A-OK. Hear that Tuesday country nights are a good time, but I was there on a Wednesday night. Apparently the Chicken Supreme special (which used to be on the menu but is now only available on specials) was so good that by 7pm they were out. Very disappointing to one of the three of us at the table! 2 Cobb salads and a burger was what we ordered. The salads looked great and were both enjoyed. The "medium" burger had no pink, even though a pink center was confirmed for medium when ordered. Danielle our waitress made any shortcomings overlooked as she was friendly and welcoming. She let us visit with no rush at all (many tables were empty) and kept our liquids refreshed all night. Would I go back? Probably not my choice but if others picked it as a destination for a good time to catch up with friends, absolutely! read more

We stayed at a hotel nearby and popped in for a few drinks and some apps. Allen the bartender is wonderful...fun, Irish humor and great service. AND, the food is AMAZING. So good that we ordered it twice more from our hotel. I can attest to the beauty of the following: the burger (perfectly cooked), fish and chips, the whisky chicken wings were some of the best I have EVER had. Not to mention, the potato skins were unbelievable - fresh, not frozen. My only advice is to call if you have special requests when ordering from Doordash. With our first order through Doordash, our condiments and special request were missed...but when we called on the second order...the person that picked up the phone accommodated all of our condiments. We went to Molly's for an early dinner. It was pretty empty. The owner (?) greeted us and showed us to our table. He had a brogue. So, that was authentic. The menu had pretty much everything you would expect from an Irish pub. My wife and I split potato skins as an appetizer. They were good--not great. They could have used some scallions. A rather unimaginative version of skins. For dinner, my wife had Mac 'n' cheese, which was creamy and rich. I think there was crumbled bacon on top of it. I ordered fish and chips. Crunchy beer-battered cod. Very good. I would order it again. Our waiter was Greek, I think. Did a great job. Overall, no complaints. Except that the parking lot needs paving. read more

One of the white bouncers had a very old mature male friend; and when one of my friends rejected him he immediately kicked us out. Literally for no reason other than not being interested in a 60 year old drunk guy at a bar. Very strange. Updated review: food quality has gone down since my last review, I think I'll still with Rosy Tomorrow's. Ok place to hangout when it's not TOO CRAZY on DJ nights. Max level dbaggery gets underway on "club nights" and since I like talking to people, it's virtually impossible to hold a decent conversation with anyone. The food is decent, beer selection is ok but it can be better. The best part is the regular crowd at the bar and you can make friends really easily on nights when it's not crazy busy. They're upgrading to an organic menu but I wish they changed the items on the menu a little more often. read more

It's your average bar in a college town. Underage kids always trying to sneak in, the security is great. I love coming for karaoke and just listening as I am never the one to get up in front of people. Even though the whole point is to just have fun. There's usually a DJ on Thursday nights and that's when the college scene usually comes around to hang out. I typically stay far far away on Thursdays.
