Whew, it's been a few years since I had dropped in here. Stopped today for a quick lunch and was welcomed and seated immediately. I asked the server for a lager on draft and when he returned I ordered one of my favorite diner lunches: the turkey club on wheat toast. I was pleased. They can often be dry but the turkey was good along with the bacon. It could have used more mayo but I usually wind up asking for a cup. Fries were hot and tasty. Even the cole slaw and pickle hit the spot. My only concern was the draft. It did not taste fresh. And I had worked up a thirst. A cold fresh lager should delight the palate. Wonderful local family business with a fantastic staff and great food. Family hosted a baby shower for 60 people and the staff and food was beyond expectations. Everyone commented on what a great place this was to host an event, they even made special accommodations for the children that attended as well as letting us come early to decorate the room. It's just one visit for this 5-star review, but we had a very good one, and we're happy to share. While our pet kitty was getting some surgery nearby, we spent several hours over breakfast and beyond enjoying the hospitality and good food at this pleasant diner. It's clean, the staff was extra friendly and efficient, and best of all the expansive menu filled us up deliciously. Any dish on the menu can be served at any time they're open. So while one of us opted for a three-egg cheese omelet -- thank goodness someone in the kitchen knows how to prepare eggs and not over-cook them -- the other ordered liver and onions. At 9:30 a.m. no less. And when they came, they were wonderful, tasty, cooked very rare with scads of sliced onions. Not to everyone's taste, perhaps, but sure did satisfy ours. There was lots of good coffee and tea, lots of smiles with our server, and lots of relaxation for us. Prices are good, about what you should expect for a diner, and we were impressed with how clean it was everywhere, including the bathrooms. We recommend Putnam and look forward to a return, with or without the kitty. BTW, there's a cool little pool out front (see our photo) with a bunch of hungry fish happy to snare any food you might cast their way, and a wishing well to accept coins (please don't feed the fish your coins). My best friend & I had breakfast here while we waited for her baby girl to get spayed up the road. The food was delicious, the service was outstanding and the ambiance was chill. Putnam diner did not disappoint today. I had a chicken cordon blue panini with sweet potato fries and it was so good, it made my husband jealous. My picky 11 year daughter had gyro that she finished completely. Everyone in our party enjoyed their meal. I took one star off because the table we were seated at wasn't clean. When I said something, they sent a 12 year old kid to clean it. I took the wipe from him and did it myself. Please clean the tables better. read more

Slow service, there was enough staff definitely to be helping more but seemed to be all in the back most likely not doing much. The food was good, and the waitress did seem nice. But there was absolutely nobody serving us, while we were waiting to order dessert or over 40 minutes. Then the bill took probably 20 minutes after dessert to come even though I asked for dessert and the bill at the same time to smoothly leave. We came here the other night and my friend ordered the Turkey dinner. The Turkey was fresh and moist. The stuffing was surprisingly good as well. Went here on while on vacation, delish. The food was great, the portions were huge. They easily accommodated our party of 8 with no wait. I had the cinnamon raisin French toast, great flavor. I was real bummed because they had no hash browns. Not sure if it's just me, but I was expecting hash brown on the breakfast menu, but no. We were offered fries, but were given diced potatoes, like I said not sure if I was expecting something else, but to me in California fries are french fries not diced potatoes. I avoided for a long time but had come back a handful of times more recently, with minimal issue, because it's a convenient diner. I shouldn't have. The first time the waitress offered to have my food remade, I passed. She stated "it's funny cause none of them have hair back there" Which was not comforting when you find short black hairs in your food. First let me admit that I am a breakfast snob of the worst variety. So, my nose was in the air before I even walked in the door. Right away I was impressed by the warm and friendly welcome and genuine smiles. The menu was impressive, lots of yummy choices and "All Day" breakfast. That caught my eye. I immediately zoned in on that. I was not disappointed. The breakfast menu was wide and inviting. But, can they deliver? YES! I had the Waffle breakfast with bacon; and my bacon needs to be just so. It was perfect! The waffle was fluffy and flavorful. On top of that, we had an appointment that we had to get to for a tour and we told our waiter that. Quiet little diner in a sleepy town. This is a quintessiental local spot and although the food isnt spectacular it serves a good purpose. The omelette with avocado on the side was solid. Who knew there was a Patterson in NY? I certainly didn't! I found myself on the road on my way to Massachusetts and made a pit stop at Putnam Diner & Restaurant for some much needed breakfast. Now, I knew I made the right decision when I walked in and there was a sign saying they had pumpkin spiced waffles & pancakes available. Our lovely waitress, Lisa, came over and greeted us and was genuinely such a nice person to talk to. I ordered the eggs benedict, without asparagus, and we shared a pumpkin spiced waffle. The coffee was okay, but nothing to rave about. The food was absolutely delicious and very filling. My favorite part was the pumpkin spice waffle. I would go back to Patterson just for those! Driving home from a day trip upstate I stopped into the Putnam Diner. It's been a long time since I've eaten in a diner so this was a little nostalgic.
