I love this spot. Plain and simple. When you walk in, you're instantly struck with the awesome ambiance of the fish tanks, mellow music, and overall aesthetic of the bar. There's also a room behind the obvious bar area that most people enjoy sitting at, but it's even more fun to sit right at the bar (plus, quicker drinks, am I right?) Anyhow, their drinks are great, and they also have specials for each day of the week! For instance, right now they're offering $5 Hot Toddy's on Tuesday's, a well shot and Rainier for $5 on Wednesday's, and etc. Also, their specialty cocktails are delicious. My favorites that I've tried are the Beet It and the St. Agatha. They're super flavorful and priced at $10 or less, which is refreshing compared to some Portland spots. The service is friendly and accommodating. Overall, two thumbs up. It's one of my favorite bars in the city, hands down. read more

Moloko is by far my favorite bar on the Mississippi strip. As other reviewers have noted, the aquariums are outstanding, but the best feature in my opinion is the patio. Heated in winter, shaded in summer, it's a great place to hide away from the world and read or just hang out. The cocktails are all amazing, and in spite of appearances, during happy hour they have the cheapest beer on the street, $1.50 for a draft. The grilled sandwiches can be hit or miss, but are almost always worth it. Highly recommended. read more

The Clockwork Orange bar" "The one that I can't drink anything at?" "Yea, that one" this is an actual conversation that happened. And yet, somehow, I still managed to find my friends there. I'm never overly impressed by Moloko and I know that the big reason is that they use potato vodka for all of their infused drinks. And I get that I'm the only person in the entire city/state/west coast that this could possibly effect but it's still annoying. What's the point of going to a bar that specializes in fancy cocktails when you still order High Life? The bar itself is pretty sterile. There is nothing happening there. It's just a pretty space to sit in and drink pretty cocktails. I'll still go in the rare occasion that my friends want to venture there but I would never suggest it on my own. So swank with my Martini sitting at the bar next to the fish tank. A nice blend of music on the stereo and great outdoor smoking area with the hot light things. Just love how unassuming from the outside, with a cool vibe in. Had my girlfriends all go for happy hour on my birthday, it was great 'cos we had plenty of room to take over. read more

This place has grown on me through out the years. It used to be so stark white, vinyl seated, early 80's reminiscent... Now they have a little more flava to it. There are 3 fish tanks, which are admittedly cool to look at and add a great esthetic, but I have a strong discomfort for caged things that could/ should be free, so once again I sit upon the double edged sword. Ahhh. The staff is friendly and, typical of Portland- nice to look at. This is one of those bars w/ a strong constituent of regulars; Most being cool, though not all. Nothing threatening or terrible, it's just lurky, creepy dudes have a propensity for showing up; often wanting to, say, touch your hair, or whisper something unintelligible into your ear/ hair. You can pretty much guarantee that you'll be hit on by some dude who is too drunk to stand independently, and too touchy to, well, touch you. But hey, if you're in a real hard spot & need a (low) confidence boost, wtf. Seen worse. The drinks- yeah, that part- they are good! Great hot toddys. In all honesty, Im a grey goose & soda w/ lime girl, or Pendelton, or red wine, so I don't go too wild on mixed drinks, but the sips of friends' drinks that I have had have always been delish. I def recommend. There is a back porch area thing that you can cool out at too. There are 5 sweet heat lamps that help and keep ya coze. Much appreciated. Every time I have been at Moloko's I have had some fun conversations w/ old and new peeps, especially in the back area- there's a great vibe on that level and that, for me, is what it's all about. If your in Mississippi and want a swanky drink Moloko is the place to go. However, with these swanky drinks comes some serious prices. The drinks are original and they pour heavy. However, while the drinks are upscale the atmosphere is more mod than upscale. I love the fish tanks but the bar is always a little dark and missing some unidentifiable factor that would make it feel upscale for me. The reason why I didnt rate higher is because the drinks seemed overpriced for the neighborhood. read more

The back is a joke! Tiny, bad seating set up, so smokey! Inside smells like mold, seats and tables are all dirty! Fish tank is super gross, needs a serious cleaning. I've never had a bad time here and being the raving alcoholic I am, I frequent this bar a lot! I've always had great service and now know most of the friendly bartenders and regulars on a first name basis. If you want amazing cocktails and like listening to vinyl this is a place for you. The smoking patio is cozy and the swanky interior with fish tanks make it classy place to bring a date or a small group of friends. I'd recommend trying one or more of their countless house infusions with some fresh squeezed fruit juice. If that's a little too pricey for ya or just not your thing, they pour their well drinks stiff and you can always grab a highlife for $2. If you're in the Mississippi area you should definitely make a stop at Moloko. read more

What a find!!! We were drawn into this fascinating bar by the abundant life in the 5 salt water aquariums. We were there when a guy was feeding them. Absolutely stunning! The cocktails were amazing! I would recommend the Smoked Old Fashion or the Marionberry Margarita. The bartender was friendly & helpful in the selection of drinks. She also suggested excellent food pairings with whatever we were drinking. Fabulous bar in a trendy part of town! Not to be missed! read more

It seemed like a nice atmosphere until we ordered our drinks. After waiting and being passed up for almost 20 minutes the bartender asked what was wanted. When ordering a Long Islands her remark was "it's $14. Can you afford that? " all because my spouse (a bartender himself) was wearing jeans and a hoodie. Not only could he afford it but to add insult to injury he also purchased a beer, 2 top shelf shots of whiskey and tipped her $19.50. I'm appalled that she's even in the customer service industry asking questions like that. I'll never go to this place again. read more

This is one of my spots that I like to go to get away from the yuppie crowd. More hipster, cool and intellectual type hang here. Very low key. Drinks are great and if you drink too much, you'll be mesmerized by the three fix aquariums. Bartenders are nice and friendly. Back room is closed in and outside, good for smoking and conversating. One bad thing is the single restroom, but other than that, a good place to chill. read more

Moloko is a shocking bar. Shocking because it has the appearance of being too fancy and cold-feeling, but is actually the friendliest bar in the Mississippi area. Whether you want to drink with friends, or just drink by yourself with a book as if you were a 19th century European, Moloko makes you feel at home. Almost every bartender here is awesome, friendly, and attractive, and there's always good music playing. Plus, they infuse their own drinks and have the most amazing flavors in their vodka, gins, and whiskys. Plus, if you're poor you can get beer for cheap. I'm saying 'Plus' a lot and not meaning it as a pun. read more

The bartender we had on the night of 8/24/16 was very rude. Was visiting Portland with my friend and the bartender was not nice to my friend, who had ordered a diet coke. She served our drinks and gave us the check before we had even taken our first sip. We left as soon as we finished them. This is a hip/modern watering hole whose claim to fame is a variety of at least four saltwater tanks of brightly colored tropical fish. If you are observant enough to spot the globulus fish first in the day, they'll buy you a drink. A bar is fashioned very close to the door with tables that mainly seat two and a larger table in the corner that seats 6. The bar sort of bottle necks with the line for drinks spilling out into the entryway into a cluster when they are busy because the bar is in a narrow alleyway layout. They have different paninis on the menu in the $8 dollar range, all including their house made signature mustard. We came on Mardi Gras and the two bartenders were busy and we waited half an hour for a sandwich, but when we went to check on it they were on the ball, apologetic and they gave us some chips and salsa for the wait. If you continue past the first bar, the alleyway passes a door that leads into a comfortable, dim-lit room with extra seating away from the bottleneck I was talking about. A micro runs 4-5 dollars here, but they also have a full bar and a mini wine selection. read more

i cant beleive the rating this disgusting pit has. first of all it took ages to get a drink even ordered, even with an empty bar. there were ants all fucking over the display beers and syrups. worst yet, there was an ant in my actual drink.
