Great tasting tamales! We had the chicken and brisket my son likes the brisket more I liked the chicken. The green salsa was amazing! One of the best salsas I've eaten in Houston. They have family platters which I want to try next time!

If I'm ordering tamales by the dozen or any kind of catering, I'm more than likely going to do it from Momma's Tamales. A specialty tamale spot in Bellaire, originally started off as a small stand in farmers markets before graduating to a brick and mortar last year. For owner Ana, the tamales are a testament to the legacy her mother created (hence the name), and has become one of the area's best tamale makers in the process. While the place is super tiny and offers only take-out (#1), I would recommend calling ahead of time to place an order and ensure availability for various tamales. They also handle online orders from their website and through the Yelp listing. The staff speaks both Spanish and English and credit card is accepted. Their tamales vary from traditional (chicken, pork, spinach and cheese) to specialty ones (jalapeno & cheese, black bean & cheese, and bricket & cheese for an extra $2 per dozen). I will likely always order by the dozen (#2) and do a mixed dozen based on what they choose for me. If I'm going to choose, then I personally the spinach & cheese as well as the pork is straight fire. The brisket and cheese will turn some heads, and while it's good, it doesn't out-sabor the pork. Vegan options are also available. Even their beans and rice are lowkey delicious. Most may tend to balk these sides, but they're incredibly important for the completeness of any of their meals. I also appreciate they offer enchiladas, fajitas, and a killer carne guisada. The beef enchiladas and fajitas are personally my go-tos. I tend to call a day or two ahead of time for party packages. For $150-300, anywhere from 8-16 *dozen* tamales (#3) with several quarts of beans and rice with salsas. The latter are also no joke: zesty, creamy, and the perfect condiment for any of the food listed above. Lastly, I'm so impressed with their operation that I'm pleased to know they still operate out of multiple farmers markets across the city. Whether it's me eating their tamales while browsing stuff at the markets or going HAM at a party with dozens of variety, I'm always happy to support (and eat from) Momma's Tamales. And to Momma Leonor, que descanse en paz. _____________ (#1) i.e. no seating. (#2) Because single tamales are boring. (#3) If you're counting, that's 96-192 tamales. Yes, you want to come to my fiestas.

I placed an online order on 10/21/23 for pickup from the Missouri city farmers market. I received a phone call prior to me picking up my order that they were out of the green salsa that I paid for and that I would be refunded. I have never received the refund. I have contacted them via phone and text and have not gotten any resolution. This is bad business.

HIDDEN GEM!!! This is my first time trying Tamales and I'm so glad I stopped by here to have it for the first time! The owner here is very sweet and nice. I've ordered their mixed dozen with spinach/cheese and brisket/cheese, I loved the tamales so much I went back in and got another dozen (pork/chicken). Man oh man they taste sooo authentic and fresh! It does come with a complimentary green salsa per order or you could buy a larger one for $6 (8oz), $12 (10oz). This place only offers take out, no sit ins. Amazing place and I have nothing negative to say about it. I definitely recommend making a stop and trying out her awesome tamales !! First time coming here and I ended up walking out with 4 dozen tamales total lol. So worth it

We were simply told to "sit on the bench and wait" with no effort made to make us feel welcome or comfortable while waiting for our table. When making the reservation, we specifically requested either a quiet table or seating at the bar. Despite this, we were seated at a small table between two particularly noisy groups. On one side was a family with three young children playing a loud game involving frequent shouting and slapping on the table. There was intermittent drumming which the parents were oblivious to. On the other side was a large group facing us engaged in very loud ongoing conversation. The result was an atmosphere that made it difficult to enjoy the meal. Service was also inconsistent. Our server offered chips to accompany the Tiradito but she never brought them. Overall, the evening was disappointing. Between the unwelcoming reception from the dour hostess, noisy seating arrangement and lapses in service, the experience was far from enjoyable. Could not wait to leave.

All I can say is "Wow!"…read more If there is one thing that I feel I can evaluate with some degree of authority, it is the quality of taqueria fare. And Taqueria Mexico is one that I feel truly exemplifies this genre of Texas cuisine (Texas taquerias are by definition Mexican / Tex-Mex hybrids). On my most recent visit to my favorite city in the world, I happened to stay in the Galleria. Given that I usually prefer to dine in or around where I am staying, I was fairly limited to what I generally *like* with respect to restaurants, so I ventured into the adjacent but familiar Sharpstown neighborhood. On my last day in town, we wanted Taqueria brunch (what's new?). Driving down Bellaire Boulevard, I spotted Taqueria Mexico. It occured to me that I used to come here quite a bit when I first moved to Houston (at that time, living in Sharpstown). The only thing I remembered very vividly was how good their salsas were, which, combined with nostalgia, was enough for me to make the decision to eat here. This was without a doubt some of the best taqueria brunch I have had in years. I order almost exclusively à la carte due to health-related dietary reasons. Anyone familiar with my reviews and content would know this, and what I usually order - steak, eggs, and bacon (à la carte). Not only was this some of the best taqueria steak I have had in a while, the service and atmosphere were also top-notch. And, did I mention their salsas? I would come back again just for that! If you are in the Sharpstown area, and looking for a good classic Houston taqueria, with quality food, service, and a clean vibrant environment, I highly recommend stopping by here. I doubt you will be dissapointed!

The food here never misses. It always comes out piping hot, flavorful, and in Texas‑sized portions (and yes... the drinks are strong, so pace yourself). Honestly, the best strategy is to order a few dishes and share -- that way you can taste everything without popping a button. This time I tried the Mulita taco for the first time and oh my goodness... delicious. My crew tore up the chicken nachos, the birria grilled cheese, and the taco plate. We even grabbed a chicken burrito to go for my husband at home. And that soft‑serve margarita deserves its own round of applause. BTW, our server was great. She kept a pulse on our eating pace and brought some to-go boxes when she saw us slowing down. If you haven't been, I absolutely recommend Dona Leti's. The flavors are excellent and not too spicy for anyone who is sensitive to spice. The food is pretty expensive and yes, the portions are pretty big, but a lot of the food presented is side food like rice, onions, and cheese. If you put those aside, the portions of the actual food is not that big. I also do not like how almost everything had an up charge. Shout out to our waiter for telling us if certain things had an up charge but almost everything we asked for had an up charge that was not written on the menu. For example, for my pupusa, I wanted bean and cheese instead of cheese and there was a one dollar upcharge. We asked for some jalapeños and that cost a dollar and the cup was so tiny. Also certain types of meats for certain types of tacos have an up charge that are not listed on the menu and I wish they would just be clear about that. They also made a mistake and overcharged me by three dollars which I did not really catch until after I paid... Our server was nice, but there are definitely pros and cons of the place.
