The decor of this place is like walking into a low rider's garage, there's bright murals all over the walls of skulls, Houston sports teams, landmarks and celebrities. It's a whole vibe walking in with the all the colors and reggaeton blasting. The restaurant was slow paced on our visit. The food took awhile to get to the table, longer than other places. Our server did inform us that everything is homemade from scratch. But it was an hour between when we ordered and our meals came out. That wouldn't have been a problem if I was halfway through my third Dirty Horchata, but it was my lunch hour and time is short. So that knocks it down a star. On to the food- Shrimp Quesadillas- good, the cheese was gooey and had a great pull. It was buttery and fried perfectly, the shrimp were crisp and well cooked. Rice- it was super! Loved it. Refried Beans- one of my coworkers didn't get her beans with the meal. So I gave her mine, since we only had an hour I had to take the beans to go. Don't ask about the guac because I gave it away! I will try Dona Leti's again. The food was very good, maybe a cook called in and it was just a bad day. All I know is the bartender better be on point when I go back. read more

Decided to give this place a try to see what all the hype was about, but unfortunately, it turned out to be just that hype I was greeted and seated immediately upon entering, which was a great start and it went downhill from there. It took about 15 minutes to get our drinks (water) and nearly 45 minutes to get our food. I had to flag the waiter down every time I needed something, and they weren't even that busy. I ordered the 3-taco entree ;two chicken fajita tacos and one steak fajita taco and I was disappointed when I realized they use dark meat chicken for their chicken fajita tacos. This was a first for me. Every Mexican restaurant I've been to has used chicken breast for chicken fajita tacos, so that's what I was expecting. Waiting 45 minutes for tacos and nachos, combined with the subpar service, really took away from the experience. The service, the food and service just didn't live up to all the hype. Dona Leti's was a mixed experience for me. The wait for food was longer than expected, so I ended up getting my order to go instead of dining in. While I waited, I enjoyed a margarita, sampled the soft serve margarita and the happy hour prices were great! As for the food, the street tacos were okay but didn't really stand out. The surf and turf egg rolls had too much cheese, which overpowered the meat and seafood. Love love love Dona Letis on S Post Oak! Walked in we were told there was an hour plus wait but we were able to find seats at the bar and had a great first time experience! The decor and vibe of the restaurant was cute, vibrant and very H town. They also had Fifa decor and we loved the mural of Dona Leti herself. I'm giving 4 stars because of the lackluster quality/service we received from our bartender (we wished we could've had the female bartender she was more attentive, friendly, and diligent), the dry elote we received, and the spoiled nasty raw veggies they placed on our plates. It always comes out piping hot, flavorful, and in Texas‑sized portions (and yes... the drinks are strong, so pace yourself). Honestly, the best strategy is to order a few dishes and share -- that way you can taste everything without popping a button. This time I tried the Mulita taco for the first time and oh my goodness... delicious. My crew tore up the chicken nachos, the birria grilled cheese, and the taco plate. We even grabbed a chicken burrito to go for my husband at home. And that soft‑serve margarita deserves its own round of applause. BTW, our server was great. Friend saw this place on IG and we had to try as it looked awesome and reviews and social media posts and pics looked good. Opens at 11am so we showed up at 10:20 and got in line at 10:45 and we were approx 15-20 in line and the line grew fast behind us. Highly suggest you show up early and get in line early. They give you a set time frame to eat and leave of 1 hour and 45 mins from the time you're seated. To keep wait line and time down. They do have another location at I-10 and Washington very small compared to this location with very limited parking and longer wait line. But they also took over the old Denny's next door and made Bueno Dias Dona Letis so you have two options at other location. But longer wait and less parking. Opened and we were seated right away and waiter arrived with waters and took our drink order. Drinks came within mins and we ordered right away as we researched ahead of time and figured out that we wanted the Surf and Turf burrito. Next time I'll try the flautas or birras tacos. AC was kicking so if you cold natured bring jacket or sweater. Place was clean and well staffed and service was awesome Portions are big and prices are a little higher then other places I've been but not to much higher for the quality and portions you get. We ordered the soft serve margarita to try $20 each and you can add tajin and chamoy very good but a little weak on liquor but you can taste it. First off, there is always a wait and you may need to park in the neighborhood. Food gets a 5/5, especially the salsa and the avocado crema. The flavors are excellent and not too spicy for anyone who is sensitive to spice. The food is pretty expensive and yes, the portions are pretty big, but a lot of the food presented is side food like rice, onions, and cheese. If you put those aside, the portions of the actual food is not that big. I also do not like how almost everything had an up charge. Shout out to our waiter for telling us if certain things had an up charge but almost everything we asked for had an up charge that was not written on the menu. For example, for my pupusa, I wanted bean and cheese instead of cheese and there was a one dollar upcharge. We asked for some jalapeños and that cost a dollar and the cup was so tiny. Also certain types of meats for certain types of tacos have an up charge that are not listed on the menu and I wish they would just be clear about that. They also made a mistake and overcharged me by three dollars which I did not really catch until after I paid... Our server was nice, but there are definitely pros and cons of the place. read more

Recently came again; The lines have gotten even worse. We arrived at 2pm on a saturday and waited for 2 hours to be seated (we went to planet fitness to work out while we waited). The toast tab they use allowed you to check on your position in the waitlist which is helpful for monitoring your progress. However, you definitely need someone to come irl to get a spot on the list. Overall, I felt that the service was a bit disorganized at the front desk and this seemed to contribute to the chaos in general in the front lobby and desk. The food was exactly as I remembered, iconic Dona Leti's food of course with huge portion sizes, lots of cheese, etc. But is it worth a 2 hour wait when there are lots of other Birria places in houston? I wouldn't order the (1) surf & turf nachos again because the shrimp were bigger than I expected. The (2) strawberry-mango Rita on the rocks was good, but I've had better. Doña Leti's had NO business being this good. I started with the strawberry pineapple juice, and wow -- fresh fruit, super refreshing, and straight perfection. Easily one of the best juices I've had in a minute. The elote taco with fajita steak was unreal. The steak was tender and juicy, and paired perfectly with the creamy elote. Every bite was packed with flavor -- I honestly don't know where this combo has been all my life. I also tried the build-your-own burrito bowl, and it was fully loaded and flavorful from top to bottom. Nothing was missing, nothing was bland -- just fye all the way through. I regret to have to post this but... this afternoon we visited Dona Leti's and unfortunately it did not live up to the hype. After seeing reviews of this restaurant up and down my timeline and a high recommendation from my husband's friend, we visited today for lunch and it was a huge disappointment. It started with a 30 minute wait at 11:30 am which lead us to the bar. It is there we initially discovered the prices to include a $17 house margarita. Once seated at a table we ordered our food, a combination plate and chicken enchiladas and we were surprised to learn that for the combination plate, I wasn't able to pick corn tortillas for my tacos and flour for the enchiladas and quesadillas, all tortillas had to be the same, no exceptions. This should have been a major red flag that plates must be premade/preassembled but I ordered anyway. Needless to say both plates were disappointing and salty. I can admit that the colorful decor and overall vibe, plus all the influencer postings has led to its popularity, but for a true foodie like my husband and I, the food and drinks aren't worth it. ‍ read more

It was very packed on a Friday around 4:30pm. It was a little difficult to find parking, but there's more than a decent amount. The wait was about 45 min for a party of 6. You can order drinks at the bar to help pass the time. The drinks are strong! Even has a warning on the drink menu. We tried their popular soft serve margarita and it was delicious! My wife enjoyed a monster sized baked tater covered in beef birria meat and small amount of the birria consomme, they brought wifey some samples of a few toppings and she picked the birria and Oscar recommended a smaller serving of the consomme 'cause she thought it may be too spicy....I love the sample idea. I enjoyed the trio of steak fajita enchiladas, I opted for queso toppings and flour tortillas. We had plenty of leftovers which is a plus, the minus is the prices are high. I would actually give it a 3.5 as my servers great customer service. Great customer service... my waiter was amazing...the staff was friendly and attentive. The food was okay overall. We ordered the burrito, birria tacos, and a baked potato with shrimp and steak. Let me not forget the banana pudding. I was really hoping to get a little taste of a Vegas-style food truck experience, especially since I once had the best baked potato ever from one in Vegas. Unfortunately, this one didn't quite live up to that expectation but it was tasty. I would order again. We also ordered a flight and it wasn't good at all however I am not a heavy drinker. There wasn't much distinction between the flavors. The berry lemon drop wasn't great either, although the glitter swirl was a nice touch. This place lives up to the hype. What I like best is it has decent Al pastor so I can get my LA street taco fix but they also have go Tex mex. The beans are like refried ranch style beans and the rice is really good which is key. I also like they give you tons of salsa with you Togo orders. Will definitely be back. read more

We decided to take the chance and wait. We were quoted a 90 minute wait, but thankfully it only took 19 minutes to be seated. We lucked out in the waitress department and were greeted by Marie. She was a remarkable server. She was friendly, made great suggestions, followed up, and was all around wonderful. My son does not eat cheese and yet she was able to help us navigate through the menu and make awesome recommendations. The restaurant was poppin. Birthday parties, large groups, and we had a prime seat at a high top. Our waitress didn't miss a beat.
