Butter Chicken, Samosa (2 pcs), Garlic Naan

In my forever search for the best Indian takeout in Minnesota... And I FOUND IT! Located in a strip mall with lots of great finds, this spot is half grocery store, half restaurant! While there is technically plenty of parking, it was very busy on Friday night when I was swinging by to pick up my food. The restaurant is very simple, with a few booths for dining, which were mostly full, and there was a line of about 6 people waiting for takeout. It was exciting to see so much support for this space. The workers were fabulous: friendly and working diligently to maintain order and make sure everyone had what they needed! I ordered my basics, since it was my first time! Samosas, Garlic Naan, and Butter Chicken! The Samosas were crunchy on the outside, and filled with potatoes, peas, and spices! Perfectly dipped in the accompanying chutneys. Mint was bright and fresh, tamarind was sweet and tangy, just how I like it! Butter Chicken was quite a large serving, bursting with flavor and nuance, which is sometimes missing from takeout versions of this classic. Naan was a bit crisper than I usually like, but the perfect vehicle for the leftover butter chicken sauce. I'm already planning my next order! Check this place out for sure!

Just went here recently with my husband's family and was amazed at the high quality food and the service. Sometimes as a south Asian it's hard to find good quality Indian / Pakistani food but at this restaurant, I felt like I was transported back to South Asia. Everything from the service to the way the food was served in little cooking trays was such a wonderful touch. We tried the popcorn chicken, cauliflower dish, butter chicken, garlic naan, and biryani. Everything was delicious and flavorful. I couldn't stop raving about the butter chicken and garlic naan. The servings are on the smaller side but despite this, we still had a lot of leftovers. My family doesn't eat much though so it was perfect for us. The decor in the place is also very nice. I loved how they have sinks on the outside of the bathrooms to wash your hands. The bathroom is very spacious too - however, it was kind of wet on the ground near the toilet. It could be kept a bit cleaner. Despite this, I had an overall great experience and will definitely recommend this place to everyone I know!

Spice Village is really spicing up Apple Valley! Each dish is packed with flavor and can be tailored to the midwestern palate for spice level. For a starter, I tried the vegetarian samosas. They were crispy and flaky and the sauces on the side added a flavorful kick. Our table also tried the chicken tikka masala, andhra chicken curry and butter chicken. They were all similar but had their own differences. The tikka masala and butter chicken were most similar but the butter chicken was creamier and sweeter. The portions sizes were generous and I had a whole meal to take home. Any of these curries I tried would be a great start for anyone trying this restaurant for the first time! They have a buffet option on the weekend which would be nice for trying other flavors! I will definitely be back to try that out. After finishing up at the restaurant I went across the entrance into the grocery store part. They have lots of spices, ingredients and snacks to try. Worth a browse if you're looking to add something new to your grocery list. This was a great first experience at Spice Village! I would definitely recommend trying this place out!

Spice Village is a newcomer to Apple Valley's food scene. We went for Saturday buffet and were impressed. The restaurant was clean and friendly. The food on the serving line was fresh, hot and delicious. $20 for the buffet also seems very reasonable. Spice Village is a very welcoming place well worth a visit.

Best Indian food I've ever eaten. The buffet is solid but the à la carte is off the charts good. Be sure to try the street style fried rice and the mutton curry. My two favorites. You won't be disappointed no matter what you order!

Food was really good, service friendly and nice relaxed atmosphere. Will definitely be dining here again!

Indeed, there's a lively and popular chain called Kumar Mess in Madurai; maybe related. I've tried at least two of their locations around Madurai. I find the food at the Apple Valley location mostly good, especially if served right out of the kitchen. I'm generally un-thrilled with buffets anywhere and haven't tried the Kumar's version. I could be wrong, but running a good buffet takes more effort and planning than the apparently very small staff at Kumar's can probably manage, so I order from the menu. I find the Chettinad chicken curry very good; hence my rating. My companions always like the various dosa and uthappam dishes and the samosa and pakora appetizers. I like vada (served as an appetizer) if it's fresh and not dried out; that varies at every Indian restaurant I've tried. Service is friendly but sometimes agonizingly slow, as I usually see just one server on duty, even in busy-ish evenings.

It feels like the focus has shifted much more toward the buffet, and the takeout experience has suffered as a result. The online ordering process was confusing because the only pickup times available were 4 PM or 6 PM. We would've loved to eat at 5 PM, as that's usually when we get takeout orders when we eat out. We chose the 4 PM slot, but when I arrived 5 minutes early...the order was already sitting out waiting. That immediately raised concerns about how long it had been sitting there. When I got home, some of the food was much cooler than expected for freshly prepared takeout, which only added to those concerns. I ended up needing to reheat several items as I was afraid from a food safety perspective. The pickup experience itself was also awkward. I stood waiting at the front for about 30 seconds while employees were nearby, but nobody acknowledged me. Eventually someone yelled "hello" from literally across the restaurant. After I responded and said I was there for a pickup order, there was very little communication. They looked at me confused. The employee then walked away and eventually returned with my order. The interaction felt confusing and unwelcoming. I was also disappointed by the portion sizes, especially considering current menu prices. On top of that, there is an additional service fee for online orders, which makes the value feel even worse. Overall, this visit left us feeling like the restaurant isn't prioritizing its takeout customers the way it used to. Between the confusing pickup process, concerns about how long the food sat before pickup, smaller portions, and added fees, were hesitant to order takeout here again. It's sad, because if you look at my previous reviews of this place, I use to enjoy it.

The spot shares a very small parking lot with the attached brewery, so it's a bit of a roulette wheel on whether or not you'll find something close. The interior was nicer than expected: very clean, organized, and inviting! I didn't interact too much with the staff, but they were friendly and it was a smooth pick-up. I had the Delhi's Butter Chicken and Garlic Naan. The naan was tasty and not too buttery, which I appreciated. The Butter Chicken was surprisingly nuanced, with warm spices and a great combo of flavors. I'm used to Butter Chicken being some of the simplest Indian cuisine, so shout-out to India Palace for not being afraid to add some character to it. I did, however, find cartilage and a few decently sized bones in my chicken, which wasn't expected and detracted from the meal. I'll definitely be back to get takeout again soon and maybe even try the experience of dining in!

Service was friendly and the food came out fast. I ordered the Tandoori Dinner for 2 and I was blown away by how much food came with it! The samosa was hot and the outside was nice and crispy. The rogan josh was a little on the gamier side and the vegetable curry was flavorful. The sizzling plate of chicken, shrimp, veggies, and seekh kabab was incredible and the portion was so generous. The veggies had a little bit of acidity which helped balance the dish. The garlic naan was fluffy and loaded with butter and garlic. The kulfi has a mild sweetness but it was very creamy. At $38.99 it was a ton of food for two people. I also ordered the Mango Lassi which was creamy and sweet, and not too tart.

Upon arrival, the restaurant is tucked inside a medium size shopping mall with a nail salon and a few other shops. I'm not knocking stars for this, however, the carpet and wall painting could use a refresh. Contrary, the rest of the decor felt very polished to us. The staff was attentive, got us seated promptly with the reservation and had water poured almost immediately after sitting down. To start, we ordered the warm chai. It was delicious and had just the right amount of spice. If you are looking for it to be more sweet, you can add sugar packets to it. My husband and I enjoyed it as is. For our starter, we had the garlic naan bread which was fresh and seasoned perfectly. It came with a green and brown sauce - both very good. For our main dishes, we both got chicken masala. My husband had medium spice and I had none. The presentation was beautiful arriving in silver dishes and spaced out time wise nicely from the garlic naan. We enjoyed the garlic naan so much that we ordered another round of it. Mistake our not, we could barely eat it when it arrived as we were full yet had a nice dish of leftovers to take home. We both reheated our meal on New Year's Day and the quality of freshness still existed. We look forward to returning! Thank you!!

The paneer was creamy with tons of flavor, and my husband said the roti with saag dish reminded him of home - big win! The dahi puri was cool and brightly flavored and crunchy and creamy, perfect starter on a hot day. The only thing I would maybe pass on is the tandoori chicken - while it came out sizzling with a great char, it had some strange flavors, almost like they mixed in chili Gobi or something with it? Not bad, just not what was expected, especially since everything else really hit it out of the park.
