Let's get real. You can't expect a Mercedes when you're dishing out for a Kia (no offence to Kia). Their affordable price point is appreciate it, but you do pay for it. If you're a sushi lover you will certainly pay in terms of the lack of flavour, taste and quality. I ordered three different rolls and oddly enough they all tasted the same. The bag which I paid for came torn and leaking and the wasabi and ginger was meshed all together?! (see pic). I'm not sure what was up with the Miso Soup, it had a strange aftertaste and I had one sip and garbaged the rest. If you're a sushi lover like I am skip this place. The difference in price is not worth it. If you're not, then you'll be relieved when you get your bill, as it is one of the cheapest Sushi places in Vancouver. After reading all the reviews about how big the rolls were supposed to be, I was greatly disappointed by the size. It was just regular sized roles. If anything, maybe a little smaller than other cheap sushi places like naruto. Their special rolls were not very creative - seems like the same sauce is used for several rolles and just basic ingredients. The taste was ok but the chopped scallop was fishy. At first the prices seemed great if the rolls were as big as others said, but now that the rolls are smaller, the prices are just a little more expensive than other cheap sushi places. One thing to note is that there are 3 Momo Sushi and they all hage different menus. I am not sure whether it is a chain or not (but the name is stylized the same). The prices are very different as well. Maybe other Momo sushis are better. read more

All these years later this little hole in the wall spot continues to do pretty good, steady business (though much of it is to-go). It's still a very small space, so if there's more than 3-4 couples/groups dining in, you'll need to wait for a table or get food to go. It remains a (Canadian-)cash/debit only place. I'm from the US and always get CAD ahead of visiting Vancouver specifically to visit this place. It's one of my favorites. The portions are sizable but fairly affordable and solid quality compared to similar places elsewhere. I only need to order about four rolls for it to be a big, full meal. Also, they start you with a house soup that's not miso but the broth is udon-like, no noodles, spicy with a bit of scallions, and there's no spoon so you drink it like a tea. I still really like this place whenever I visit Vancouver, and still visit quite a few times every time I'm in town. It's an out of the way and semi-hidden spot off Robson on Bidwell, but if they've got seats and you've got (Canadian) cash, it's a great and affordable place to have some sushi. read more

My niece was in town from Australia so my sister and I took her and her bestie out for a quick sushi after they did some shopping. Momo has come recommended by a friend so we decided to try it out. Hamachi, Snapper, and Albacore were not as fresh and had a little freezer burn which made the texture a bit spongy. The preparation is not delicate. Some pieces had jagged tears instead of a clean cut. As noted by other reviews, rolls look huge. This place is definitely for the volume eater looking for a cheap sushi fix. This is my second time eating at Momo sushi and I feel the food quality isn't the same. I ordered spicy combo, spicy salmon sashimi and philly roll including some maki roll. The salmon, tuna wasn't as fresh, as I could taste it. The teriyaki chicken was dry and not crispy. The seafood didn't taste very fresh and the rolls compared to other places were smaller. All together we paid under $40.00 which is decent for a regular sushi place. I feel sushi Momo is a hit or a miss. I would recommend trying it either way. read more

They stopped using all the proper plate and bowls, Replacing with plastic and foam plates on a food court tray. The udon used to be very light and delicious. Now it's stiff and salty ... I feel like I'm drowning in soy sauce. The rolls..... Are like they are being smashed on the foam plates. Bill is still cheap, but I rather eat somewhere else for a bit more money. First of all, the MOMO Sushi House (on Bidwell) is not the same as the other Momo places on water, Robson, and Georgia. I just discovered this. I haven't been to this place since 2016, the last time I was luckily in Vancouver. I was curious about the meaning of Momo. There's a large company in China named Momo and they don't serve sushi. So, I did a Google search and the meaning is pretty broad and interesting. In Tibetan cooking, Momo is a steamed dumpling filled with meat or vegetables. Tasty! In Japan, Momo is " the name of a statue with big bug eyes and a creepy smile that was made in Japan by a sculptor named Keisuke Aiso" scary! And my favorite, according to the Urban Dictionary, Momo is used to describe a "goof, tool, ass clown; botard; asstard"....umm, wonder who in the USA best fits this description? Hint - he is in Washington DC but prefers to golf and cause havoc. Anyways I got somewhat off tangent..now to my review I was looking for VALUE. Scanning through the menu, my eyes were intrigued by Box A for $10.50. I don't know how they got so much stuff crammed into the box, but they did. From site: Cooked salmon on rice, California roll (4 pieces), tuna sashimi (3 pieces), salmon sashimi (3 pieces), tuna nigiri, salmon nigiri, green salad & fruit. See picture. The quantity was clearly obvious. Quality would have been a bonus. Well guess what? You get both! Cooked salmon on rice was terrific. Sashimi and nigiri were fresh. There was even some nice tasting seaweed on top of the sashimi. The salad was good but clearly not the star of this meal. FYI, I don't recall eating a fruit? *Foreign visitor review* Of the sushi places' menus we looked at, this one was a pretty good deal and for sushi, Vancouver seems to have Hawaii beat in terms of price to size ratio. The pieces here are as big if not a bit bigger than local conveyor belt places without any loss in quality. The Ahi here, including their toro which seems to be available everywhere, is of a lighter color and not the deep red we're used to--possibly a different type of fish. They also lack Hamachi here but options like Tai (snapper) seem to be in abundance. Pros: Great service, fresh fish, take out option, and pretty much a dollar a per huge piece of sushi. Used to frequent this place once or twice a month, last night was our first visit in a year or two. This location is quite cramped. Most of the seating is at the bar with minimal space behind for someone to get past to the washroom. Even the two small tables they have have very little room. Service left a lot to be desired. The one server who was there was mostly disinterested. Took our order, brought the food when ready and that's about it. Menu has changed a little. We ordered a special roll and a box and it came to $15 for the two of us. Sushi was nothing special, but perhaps I shouldn't complain for the price.
