We came here on a Friday night without reservations and planned to come early around 530 and they were actually busy. The staff were so friendly and let us know that they had reservations and there would be time to come back around 7. So she recommended some bars nearby. We quickly were called back and got seated. It had a small dining room but service is quick. We got edamame, also style papaya salad (5 spice level, the highest), a sushi roll (I think dynamite, I forgot), and a red curry with chicken that came with rice. It was all really good and more than enough for 2 people. We had enough to take home. They had a wide selection. There's a parking lot next to the building and some street parking.

Last night was my first time checking out Bagu Sushi! Their location is in a nice a quiet area in south Minneapolis. They have. Small parking lot on the side of their building which I easily found a parking spot. The dining space inside is smaller but we easily got in with a reservation. I would say the dining furniture could use an update but it was clean. It would have been nice to have music low in the background, because it felt like everyone could hear my conversation. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. We started off with an appetizer and choose the Spring Rolls (shrimp, pork, lettuce, carrots and rice noodles). I enjoyed them and the sauce to dip them it was good! For dinner we shared sushi and got the following rolls: Spicy Tuna Sun Rise (seasonal) Alaska My favorite roll was the Alaska, it was spicy but wasn't too overpowering. I thought it had a nice kick. The sun rise roll was more of a sweeter roll with mango on top. It was good. I def will come back and check out their patio out back during the warmer summer months!

    Mochi was excellent!

Great local sushi spot! Love their patio on a nice evening, and their happy hour specials are awesome! The cream cheese puffs are some of the best in the city - lightly fried pillows of heaven! We LOVE the Number 9 roll and the curry roll, with homemade peanut sauce (absolutely divine!)

For dessert, we went with Roti. Best dessert of the night!! It was so good.

Overdue review because I forgot to write one for Bagu from my previous visit to MN. Coming from California, I had low expectations for their Asian cuisine here since that's not what they're known for. From my experience, I can definitely say that Bagu exceeded my expectations for a Japanese & Thai fusion restaurant here in Minnesota. They have a private lot & street parking right in front of the restaurant, I believe. If I remembered correctly, we got here around 7 PM for dinner & were seated fairly quickly. The ambience was pretty upscale & modern; Definitely great for a date night! Our server was very warm & welcoming. I ordered my go-to tofu pad Thai while the rest of the party ordered pad see ew, sushi, beverages, & roti for dessert! For my dish, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality & taste of the pad Thai noodles. I came here not knowing what to expect in terms of flavor, but it was pretty good for what it was! I personally still prefer the pad Thai back at home, but this was as close as I'll get to the pad Thai back in CA, lol. Just a personal preference! I don't usually eat sushi often, so my opinion for it may be skewed, lol. I forgot what we ordered to be exact, but I thought it was good. My favorite dish of the night had to be the roti. It was AMAZING. Just writing this review is making me drool for the roti, haha. Definitely worth ordering! Can't wait to drop by again the next time I'm in MN!

This place was AMAZING! I would definitely go back. Every dish was so good. Everything was seasoned very well, full of flavor. We ordered the Angry Salmon, Poke Ahi, Drunken Noodle with Pork Belly, Fried Rice with Pork Belly, and Spicy Ramen. Place is small and they also have a special board menu. I wanted to try their Thai Boat Noodles but they didn't have it available that day. Currently due to the pandemic they are only open for dinner.

Wow wow wee welcome to my seventh review of 2020!!!!! I am not sure if I understand why there are poor reviews here. Yeah, it's not the biggest place but the food was freaking good and the ladies serving us were friendly and polite. Make sure you make reservations or they will turn you away if it is busy. They also have a parking lot so it was pretty convenient. Our drunken noodles with soft shell crab is a must have. The noodles were cooked al dente and the wonderful basil umami flavor just makes you crave for more with every bite. We asked for a spicy sauce on the side and it was kicking! So good with the little extra heat. We also ordered sushi and for MN, the sushi is as good as it gets. No complains there, it tasted fresh and the fish to rice ratio was good. What is there not to like about this place!?

Best ramen I've had so far here in MN! Definitely recommend. I got the spicy level 5! The service made my dining experience even better.

I took a chance on Bagu and on my first visit yesterday brought my out of town friend here. The gamble paid off as we were both very pleased with our meals! The space was modern and cozy. There were plenty of food options available which almost made it hard to decide - they all sounded delicious! I settled on a thai tea, with agedashi tofu appetizer, and a red curry main. To start, the thai tea was so delicious! Perfect balance of spices, sweetness, and cream. The agedashi tofu appetizer is perfect to share as it is a generous portion. The tofu was perfectly crisp and the sauce rounded out the flavor. Finally, the red curry - wow! The curry was a very generous portion size that I had to get a take out box. The tofu was perfectly crispy on the outside and the sauce was so creamy with a nice touch of spice. This meal was well worth it and I can't wait to come back and try more of their options!

First time last night with my college aged kids and we loved it! Very fresh ingredients and tasted better than similar dishes at other places. Salmon in the sushi melted in my mouth! Chicken Pad Thai was very flavorful. Spring rolls and sauce were fresh. Spicy ramen was fantastic with pork pieces until the end, egg was exceptional, spices made my mouth wake up, the wooden spoon was perfect! We will be back for sure!

    Finished all our food!

The atmosphere and food are unmatched. I will be returning. I ordered a beef and sweet potato curry and two small rolls. All phenomenal :)

We ordered the Lotus Bahn Mi, the Beef Lo Mein, and the Eggrolls. The place is a little small, but very cute and cozy. Staff was extremely nice, and attentive. They were happy to talk about the options as well. We will continue to visit the restaurant, but I want to make it known to others about all my experiences. Pros: - Several. We have always felt the hospitality is superb. Cons: - Mentioned in the above description.

As you enter this establishment, it reminds you of a tropical oasis, and right away I started singing the Beach Boys. We were seated, and Lily was our server. The poolside in Koh Samui and who can forget the Luna Duna to go with the sticky rice and the crispy rice salad and pork belly. We continued drinking the night away and enjoying good food. The volume in the restaurant is quite loud, so the patio may be better if you don't want to speak up at the table. The texture contrast between the filling, chewy exterior, and lettuce shell was fantastic. It was so flavorful and has a bit of a spice kick to it. -- The Mango Fish entree was packed with flavor, and is a very umami-forward dish. The piece of crispy salmon skin on the side is perfectly crunchy and salty. I will be thinking of how good that dish is for the rest of my life; the coconut milk and lime combined with the texture of fresh seafood really hit the spot! The presentation on my cocktail (a tonic with vodka and buddha hand fruit) was very pretty. Service was thoughtful and quick. The restaurant itself was beautiful and open and airy -- I almost felt like I wasn't in Minneapolis anymore. We went on a Tuesday, and only drawback I'd say is that the noise level can be a little bit loud due to the acoustics and how the room is one giant space. The flavors here are wildly different. I've been here before with friends and they've ordered the curry, but the curry looked too watery and that kind of should've told me that it wasn't going to be a hit of a Thai place for me. Now, this place too... I feel lost without a fav Thai place in Minne lol. The string beans were crunchy in the papaya salad which was great but the entire sauce tasted like MSG & lacks the Lao shrimp paste flavor although it was more grey since I did order the Lao style but not enough shrimp paste flavor as it should have.
