The line does move quickly as they do not offer samples. I got two scoops: - Beorn's Honey Spiced Cake: I loved the bits of cake and orange marmalade. - Brambleberry (oat milk based): you cannot tell it's oat milk! Love the berries! I also tried a bite of the Szechuan Pepper (wow the pepperiness) and Basil (very herbaceous). Definitely worth the wait and trying out the unique flavors they have! We have a daughter with celiac disease, which means we usually avoid scoop ice cream joints for risk of cross contamination. I am so sad that they stopped offering samples because even though I tried 8 different flavors while I was in town, I have no idea if I hit on the ones that I would have loved the most. Getting the flight (4 scoops for $10) was the closest thing to sampling, so that's what our family did. It's also a great value if you are willing to share your ice cream. At least in my opinion, 4 scoops is way too much for one person. Some of our favorites: The Dude (tasted just like a white russian), butterbeer (tasted just like a root beer float), coffee & oreo, matcha (most matchas are too subtle; this one is very matcha-forward), and lavender (great if you love floral flavors - I do!). Not a fan that this ice cream shop does not let you sample. I'm like just there are many unique flavors to choose from. I really enjoyed the London fog, brigadeiro, and the cookies and cream. The second day I got fig which was still good but not as much of a hitter. This goes to one of the issues with them - they do not let you sample. 9/8/23: What I couldn't have in Portland, I could in Bar Harbor! Didn't know they had more than 1. Like the Portland one, this place also doesn't give free samples. Staff is friendly. The ice cream flavors fit my "exotic" palette the most. Loved the lemon poppy and the butter beer was good too. I would personally gun for sweet cream next time if I am around or maybe I make a pit stop to Portland on the way back but I check Facebook first or other social media to make sure their freezer problems are fixed (lolol). They don't have a bathroom but there is a public one nearby that took me awhile to find. They had so many unique rotating flavors and multiple sorbet options for those prefer a dairy free option. They don't give out free samples, which is a big bummer. The first time I was here, I chose blueberry sour cream because Maine is known for their blueberries and I typically love s'mores ice cream, but they were both lacking in flavor. If I was given the option to sample multiple flavors beforehand, I would've absolutely opted for the blackstrap banana. I'm not sure if it's because I live in NJ where everything is much faster paced than ME, but their service here was very slow.
