Brambleberry (Oat Milk based) over Beorn's Honey Spiced Cake (LOTR reference!) and Szechuan Pepper over Fresh Basil
    Sam Y.

I loved the unique flavors they have. It does rotate, though I'm not sure how often. The first time I was here, I got Vietnamese Iced Coffee and Cookies and Cream (oat milk based). Now, I'm not much of an ice cream person, but I had to come back this time! Depending on when you go there, there can be quite a line, but it's worth the wait! The line does move quickly as they do not offer samples. I got two scoops: - Beorn's Honey Spiced Cake: I loved the bits of cake and orange marmalade. - Brambleberry (oat milk based): you cannot tell it's oat milk! Love the berries! I also tried a bite of the Szechuan Pepper (wow the pepperiness) and Basil (very herbaceous). Definitely worth the wait and trying out the unique flavors they have! They are pretty descriptive of the flavors, and it holds up to the description, so I don't think you can go wrong with your choice.

The ice cream was good! They have some really interesting flavors! I ended up getting a flight because you can't taste the flavors first. I really respect all the reasons they listed for not allowing tasting, like saving plastic and time. The decor inside is very nice.

They do not offer samples, and the ice cream was not good. Not edible. Not sure what else to say. There are lots of other options in town.

Why was this the best ice cream I've had in my entire life, no joke. I'm not even an ice cream eater like that, like REALLY not, and I could've eaten 40 of these. I got the cinnamon cardamom flavor and it's seriously unlike anything I've ever had. It was the sweet goodness of a snickerdoodle cookie mixed with the refreshing creaminess of a cool horchata. Usually when I get ice cream, i always want the smallest size possible and really only a taste, as it's never as good as I think it'll be and too heavy. This was the COMPLETE opposite. It was so light, so delectable, I could eat so many more of these and not get sick of it. I'm so sad I love 5 hours away from this and can't get it every single day of my life. Since I'm already not a die hard ice cream fan, any and all ice cream in my area is absolutely ruined for me after tasting how amazing this was and knowing I'll never have the same amazing experience I had when I ate this ice cream. I'll be back, idk when, but I WILL BE BACK FOR THIS!! I love you guys please ship this to me I'm begging

This is the BEST ice cream you'll ever have. An absolute must do every time I'm in Bar Harbor. It was a cold & rainy day but I couldn't pass up my favorite ice cream shop in the world. Their artisanal flavors are incredibly creative and unique but they also serve some more approachable options for guests with less adventurous palettes. Located in the heart of downtown BH it's the perfect treat after a long day of hiking or nightcap post dinner. Couldn't recommend it more.

I have been coming to Mount Desert Island Ice Cream for many years. The original is here, but it was explained to me that through some business connections the remarkably remote locations of this brand have sprouted up in Mount Pleasant in DC (where I have been many times) and Japan (which I have not been to yet). The original here is on the town square and is spacious. I was surprised that their non-dairy offerings were not quite as robust as the DC shop, and they didn't have my usual favorite flavor. However, the fresh mint and sweet cream flavors that I was able to try delivered a characteristic richness. I was quite happy to have tried this one, and now I have to find an excuse to go to Japan.

We were looking for ice cream before heading back and walking around stopped in here, which is on a side street right off the Main Street. The first thing asked was if they had vegan ice cream and they do. Jonna helped us as 4 of us asked for different small cups and she was helpful, has a great personality and sadly shared that their policy, which we understood, was no samples. We all enjoyed our ice cream and were happy we could eat inside as all other ice cream shops had no indoor tables. This was great as it was very cold and windy

Mount Desert Island Ice Cream -- where creativity meets creaminess and your wallet meets its match. The ice cream itself? Excellent - 4.5 Stars. Rich, smooth, and packed with inventive flavors you won't find anywhere else. This is where your inner foodie and your inner child join hands and agree on something. Now, let's address the (frozen) elephant in the room: the service was a little chilly -- and not just because of the freezers. The staff (mostly Eastern European students working for the summer) were polite but not exactly radiating joy. And the no-sample policy? Bold move. They've got a long explanation for it, but when a single scoop runs about $9, you kinda wish you could confirm that "Basil" isn't just a prank flavor. Speaking of which -- I took the risk, and it paid off big time. The basil ice cream was fresh, creamy, and shockingly delicious. I loved it so much I went back the next day, proving that apparently, I'm now someone who craves herbs in dessert form. The shop itself has a cool, minimalist vibe -- clean lines with just enough whimsy to remind you you're on vacation. Bottom line: pricey, a little pretentious, but worth it for the creativity. You'll roll your eyes at the rules... and then roll back the next day for another scoop.

I'll be dreaming of this ice cream tonight. The Maine Blueberry and Callebaut Chocolate were chefs kiss. Not only were the flavors lovely, but the texture of this icecream was special. Begging my partner to take me back tomorrow, highly recommend. Cute shop with seating inside, fast and friendly service!

Quick service, superb flavors, and perfect for a nice stroll around bar harbor. Extremely unique flavors, and they do such a good job at it! Very local ice cream store vibe and a classic in Bar Harbor to try. Got the blueberry ice cream, and was skeptical at first, but downright one of the best ice cream's i've had.

This is a wonderful ice cream place with such an interesting array of flavors. There was a small line when we stopped in after dinner, but it moved quickly. However, it's unfortunate they don't do samples because they have unique flavors and you don't know what you're in for. I ordered one scoop of the sherry catalana and it was good! Here is where I wish I could've gotten a sample: I think the cinnamon and sherry flavors were a bit much for a whole scoop. The texture of the ice cream was good, not icy at all and smooth. I just wish I chose a different flavor.

Really interesting flavors. I am so sad that they stopped offering samples because even though I tried 8 different flavors while I was in town, I have no idea if I hit on the ones that I would have loved the most. Getting the flight (4 scoops for $10) was the closest thing to sampling, so that's what our family did. It's also a great value if you are willing to share your ice cream. At least in my opinion, 4 scoops is way too much for one person. Some of our favorites: The Dude (tasted just like a white russian), butterbeer (tasted just like a root beer float), coffee & oreo, matcha (most matchas are too subtle; this one is very matcha-forward), and lavender (great if you love floral flavors - I do!). Some that we didn't like as much: Lamington (the coconut flakes made this far too sweet and gave it a weird texture) and basil (this was very basil-y and tasted just like a good pesto; we just didn't like cold pesto as much as we thought we would).

Busy place - but the line moved fast and the ice cream was very flavorful! We ate across the street in the square- not much seating.

If you're looking for the best blueberry coffee and popovers in Bar Harbor, this is the place!…read moreAfter trying several blueberry lattes, I finally found the perfect one at The Stadium. The Precipice is absolutely delicious, whether you order it hot or iced. The fresh-baked popovers were another highlight served piping hot from the oven with blueberry jam and butter. They were light, fluffy, and the perfect complement to the coffee. The service was quick, the staff was friendly and welcoming, and the location is ideal for grabbing a coffee and a bite before exploring the shops around town. I highly recommend stopping here if you're visiting Bar Harbor. It's a must visit for coffee lovers and anyone looking to enjoy a classic Maine treat!

They're absolutely delicious when still warm and fresh out of the oven and they bake them pretty much all day, so they're just about always fresh. One of my favorite ways to enjoy them over the years was to get the maple butter and blueberry jam and mix the two. The flavors of the butter, maple and blueberry all complimented the savory flavor of the popover. However, this year I was disappointed to see that they no longer are offering the maple butter, even for an upcharge. Please bring this back, it really took the popovers to another level! Maybe whip it into thawed butter instead of hand mixing it to make it easier? The whipped butter is easier to dip in and spread anyway. The new pre-packaged / mass produced butter packs take away from the appeal of a freshly-made popover. Sometimes in the morning it can be a little crowded in here with people waiting for their coffee / drinks to be made by a counter not far from where you place your order, so if you're walking in and haven't ordered yet then check if the people standing around are just waiting on coffee or waiting to order. It would be a nice improvement to see some separation (maybe with some ropes or floor markings) to make it more clear who is in line to order and who is waiting for their beverage to be made. It's worth noting it's takeout only and there's nowhere inside to sit, but there are some benches just outside on the sidewalk where you can have your popover and coffee.
