So I'm giving this place 3 stars only because the food was good and it was recommended by the staff at the hotel I was staying at. Let me tell you a tale of tales. As I walked in no one said hello or how are you doing. Saw the sign to seat myself and so I did. Was asked what I would like to drink right away so I can let go of the no greeting when I walked in. Ordered a coffee and water, then the waitress said someone will come take your order, then it went downhill from there. Waited about 15 minutes till someone came to get my order. When the waitress came by (didn't catch her name but I know it started with a B.) no "sorry for the wait" or any kind of acknowledgment, just what can I get you. I ordered the chicken fried steak, she didn't ask how I liked my eggs she just looked at me, and it was suppose to come with either a biscuit or toast, yet she didn't ask me which one I wanted. After she took my order she said thank you while walking away. By this time I was done with my coffee and no one ABSOLUTELY no one asked if I wanted a refill, so I set my empty cup at the edge of the table, and watched a waiter I believe his name was Jonna, walked to almost every table twice with a full coffee pot refilling every one's coffee but mine. When I received my food, the waitress didn't ask if I wanted any hot sauce or any other condiments. She just put my food in the table, did not ask if I wanted a refill for my coffee, and just walked away. Lastly the gentleman that rung me up was just not friendly, spoke in a low tone of voice and just was not inviting. Please do better. read more

Top notch service and great portion sizes. I've dined in twice and ordered to go twice. They're open til 9PM which is great for picking up an excellent meal before a 14 hour night shift. I was at Mom's with 8 people, 4 from out of town and four locals. The busman brought an extra cup of coffee and gave it to me for free. It was understood I would only drink the 6 ounces they would throw out. I did not have another drop. The owner walks over to our table and pulled only one mug off the table, mine, and went back behind the counter. What happened next was horrible. I wonder if his "Mom" knows he treated my 93 year old sweet mother so poorly and telling her to never come back when she tried to pay for the $3 coffee. He is a total jerk. And Mom does exist and is this horrible man's mom. I truly hope she reads these reviews. The restaurant is dirty, the owner has a gross beard hanging down over your food, which is semi decent if you like the cheapest quality possible. First, let me say, the hospitality and genuine care shown to every person who walked through the door was heart warming. This place is the home town "spot" for good reason. The overall atmosphere is "hometown diner." The food is homemade fresh. I ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs to go. I ate it within about 15 minutes of receiving it and the crust was still delicious. The gravy was flavorful and thick, but still creamy. The hash browns were nice and crispy around the edges and my eggs were cooked to over easy perfection. But the BEST part of it all was my very fresh, very delicious Hummingbird Cake! It was spiced cake with cream cheese frosting and pecans. I can't wait to return to Pahrump, if only to eat at Mom's Diner again! read more

Mom's Diner is the locals spot to head to when you are hungry. They offer just a little bit of everything that you would expect on a cafe menu. Decor is really nice and gives that antique dining atmosphere that you would expect in a small town. Tables are nicely set and they have both booths and tables .Food comes out super quick and tastes yummy. Staff is not the friendliest as the staff seemed really agitated and were not very hospitable. Reading from past reviews and how great they are, maybe today they may have just had a bad day. It really made us feel very unwelcomed and uncomfortable but we did not let this ruin the rest of our day visiting town. Although I would never come back for a visit, I do think its worth a try if you want a quick meal, thus the four stars given. read more

If you are in Pahrump Mom's Diner is a must stop! Located in a small strip mall of 160, it is a little gem. There is the cutest waiting area right when you walk in the doors. We walked in and got a table for 7 right away, but we did go for a late lunch/early dinner around 2:30. I would think it is probably busier for breakfast and lunch since it is self seating and also very delicious. There were still quite a few people for the time of day. The decor is so cute and feels like you're right at Mom's house. Loved looking at all the antiques and different items they had throughout. The staff was very nice and grabbed our drink order right away. There are so many good items on the menu and breakfast is served all day, the choices were hard to pick! The staff was very attentive and quick. I ordered the tuna melt, added pickles, with a side of chili cheese fries. Oh my goodness. I am a big stickler for a good tuna melt and no lie, the best I have ever had, the bread tasted so fresh with the perfect crisp and not at all soggy! We also ordered the medium sauce chicken strips, shrimp basket, French dip, Ortega omelet, and Ortega burger. Everyone said everything was so delicious. The chicken strips are so fresh and big pieces of chicken. The shrimp basket is also a must try, with big pieces of shrimp and some yummy coleslaw. The omelet was filled with fillings and not just all eggs, also the biscuit was so fresh and fluffy. I loved the fries and the chili was super tasty! The food came out so quick and again service was great. Wish I could give more than 5 stars. Such a great diner with quality food and service! I had the bacon cheeseburger with crispy fries. The burger came with lettuce and tomato and it was hearty and tasty. The fries were crispy and tasty. The boss had the French toast and she enjoyed it. I feel lucky to have found a table on a Saturday morning at Mom's. Every table was occupied and many had brought their own Mom's coffee cup. What does that tell you? Most diners with the exceptions of us seem to be return customers. All breakfasts were delivered quickly and hot. Our coffee cups never got below half full before a warm up arrived. Mom's is always a good place to eat. Geting in and out is the problem. After our breakfast this morning we had to wait in a big group of people to pay our bill. No line just everybody trying to pay. On top of that people were trying to get in! I made a suggestion to the man behind the counter about paying at your table. He got a little butt hurt and said somthing smart. Too bad because paying at the table would help with the congestion at the counter. The buffalo chicken salad was bomb! BUT..... I would order it with the buffalo chicken on the side. The spice was perfect for a buffalo ssuce, but for a salad it was like double dressing. Except as I kept eating the salad there was more buffalo dressing. Their menu has a ton of great options. On this visit, I ordered the chicken fried chicken sandwich with fries and a slice of carrot cake. The chicken fried chicken was nice and crispy and the gravy was delicious. The fries were also crispy and cooked to perfection. The carrot cake was excellent, the definition of homemade.
