I've had the privilege of enjoying After By Tori's baked goods twice now, and I was incredibly impressed both times. My friend sent me some matcha sesame madeleines for my birthday, and my family finished all five of them in one day. Not only were they beautiful, but they were also so light, fluffy, and balanced in texture and flavor. I was actually so happy with these that I ordered a box of confetti cupcakes for another friend immediately after. Tori was so accommodating with my request and promptly delivered the goods in adorable packaging. These were also unlike any cupcakes we had ever had; they were so fluffy and soft, and filled with cream instead of iced outside. They were truly delightful and made a wonderful birthday present. I'll definitely be ordering from Tori again. I love seeing small businesses from around here, and I cannot express how pleased I was with everything - from the packaging to the ingredients to the taste. In the past few months, After By Tori has become one of my go-to places to order gifts to a send to friends for birthdays or other celebrations. Recently, I finally splurged and ordered something for myself! A Mystery Box. In it, I received a lovely variety including 3 matcha cookies, and 1 each of berry, matcha sesame, and citrus madeleines. My favorite was definitely the cookies, I enjoy matcha in general and thought the combination of matcha with chocolate was a tasty and creative one! They were sweet but not too sweet and had a great chewy texture that held up well in their journey from SF to NYC. Overall, the customer service is prompt and the goodies are clearly made with care. I appreciate that shipping is available nationwide and that the delivery cost is incorporated into the menu price so it is easy to mentally calculate my total bill. Glancing at the menu, you can tell that After By Tori is pricier than your average bulk box of cookies at a grocery store, but you get the high quality that you pay for :-) They are open and receptive to feedback on their products and packaging as well. On social media, you are gifted with the additional treat of behind-the-scenes photos and videos as orders are being fulfilled and new recipes are being explored. My introduction to madeleines came by way of Sugar Bowl Bakery's $5 containers at Safeway. Honestly, I'm pretty certain that if anyone pumps copious amounts of sugar and butter into something they can't really go wrong. That said, I would absolutely have to credit After by Tori for elevating my experience with, and understanding of, madeleines to a completely different level. At first I thought my six-month sojourn to North Carolina last year would prohibit me from partaking in After by Tori treats, but that wasn't the case at all. There are two separate order forms on the website - one for Nor-Cal (within 25 miles of the 94583 zip code) and one the peons who don't live here (LOL, totally just kidding, I am not a Bay Area snob). I truly appreciate how detailed and comprehensive the order form is with descriptions and pictures! I was able to select a madeleine gift box, pay through Venmo, and then eagerly anticipate the arrival of these treats. After by Tori treats come well-packaged and completely intact. Even though I ordered during the summer time, I didn't notice any issues at all with regards to the state and quality of the madeleines themselves. I ended up getting a beautiful assortment that catered to the unique tastes of each of my family members (berry, matcha sesame + coat, etc.) and, what do you know it, they didn't even last 24 hours. Now that I've situated myself back in the Bay Area, I can't wait to try some of the layer cake offerings! One last note, Victoria has a really generous heart and donates baked goods to hospital staff in the Bay Area, and part of the proceeds from selling these baked goods to UCSF Benioff's Children's Hospital. The confetti cookie was SO GOOD. Honestly one of the best cookies I've ever had (and I've had Levain's)!! Super moist, THICK, and chewy and you can tell she uses high-quality ingredients because the sweetness tasted decadent but not overly sweet. The chocolate cupcakes were also moist and chewy!!
