We purchased our engagement ring and wedding bands from Mon Cheri more than a decade ago, when the business was located in L.A.'s Diamond District. We got a great product and great service then, so this past summer, when we were looking to rebuild the ring and band set for our anniversary we went back to Mon Cheri, now in San Dimas. Ashley and Sam designed and built a beautiful set using our original stone and even made us a pendant using the diamonds from the first bands. All along the way their service and communication was excellent. They went out of their way to accommodate us, as we now live out of state and were only in town for a short time. The staff here is wonderful and not pushy at all. It's very comforting being able to shop for jewelry without the hard sell that is all too common in many stores. It certainly helps that the store is in one of the high rises keeping you from the fray of St Vincent shops. I have purchased many items from this location: wedding sets, diamond pendants, eternity bands and more and I can't be happier with the results. They are also very receptive to custom work, have on site repairs and will work within your budget. This was the first location we stoped @ while shopping for a new band. I fell in love with a beautiful 3 carat band that was out of our price range. We walked away with their card, total carat weight and style. After walking around for a few hours and looking at very similar style bands we ended up back @ Mon cheri. The diamonds were of much higher quality and just beautiful. They must have seen the look on my face because they offered us an additional $200 off the original discounted price. My fiance and I went to Mon Cheri on a whim without an apointment. The staff were very welcoming, despite the fact that we came in about 30 minutes before the closing time. Magda and Natasha spent an hour with us helping us decide on what style worked best with my engagement ring. I tried on dozens of rings and, as mentioned in a review above, I did not feel any pressure to purchase anything. Magda and Natasha helped me chose the perfect band and gave us a great deal. I am so glad that we found them amongst all of the jewelers downtown and I feel that we got the best so much more for our money. In 2005 my husband and I were en route to another jeweler on an upper floor of the building and for some reason we wound up on the floor that holds Mon Cheri. We took a look at what was on display and received answers to questions we asked. We still had to keep the appointment on the upper floor, so we went to the other diamond dealer where the diamonds were over priced and not of good quality. We came back to Mon Cheri. The quality and price was better. They weren't pushy. They were helpful with style and setting ideas and guarantees on their product. Mon Cheri is where we purchased a 2.5 carat diamond plus a diamond loaded Cathedral setting and band which wound up being over 4 carats TW. Compared to Cartier or Tiffany - you cannot beat Mon Cheri deals - If you want that kind of quality. They also made me a setting for a diamond necklace that's a one of a kind "stunner''. I have been buying diamonds wholesale for 25 years and I had bought diamonds at retail prices prior to that. If you do your homework (research and shop around, know the 4 C's) you will know they want to do business and they will be competitive to that end. Period. They have varied price ranges. It depends on what you want, what you can afford and what you're willing to spend. I would recommend this jeweler. I am still doing business with them. They're legit. This place is terrible. They advertise all these stones that they "can get you" but in order to do so they need a deposit before they can let you see these stones that they have "readily available." At that point, might as well buy your diamond online. The worst part about it is that they're expensive too. This place is a bait and switch operation. I've been to at least 20 stores till I found the best deals with great craftsmanship on a custom ring I designed. I'm extremely attentive to details as I design / manufacture furniture. I ended up registering as a diamond dealer and sourcing my own stones, cheaper than ALL of them. They made the ring exactly how I wanted it and better and did it so fast! They sent pictures of the stages it was being made to keep me informed. The staff is amazing, helpful, and really cares. In my opinion, the biggest testament to the quality of a business is the amount of word of mouth referrals it gets. I was referred to Mon Cheri by my brother-in-law, who purchased my sister's engagement ring there. I then purchased my wife's engagement ring there as well. Without even asking my wife what kind of ring she wanted (in retrospect, a really risky move on my part), with the help and recommendations of the Mon Cheri staff, I purchased a beautiful cushion cut ring that my wife absolutely loves. I have since referred several of my friends to Mon Cheri. My point person was Vicki, who I understand is now semi-retired from the biz... but I hear the other staff members at Mon Cheri are just as affable and knowledgeable and will help you work within your budget. Mon Cheri is also a great place to purchase non-wedding related jewelry, such as the necklace I purchased for my mother on her birthday. My husband bought my wedding ring here 8 years ago; a gorgeous cushion cut diamond that I still love to this very day. We have been back once to get it cleaned and to get a necklace fixed and I felt very comfortable looking and trying on jewelry while waiting. After a disappointing visit with another jeweler - who was the reason we were in the building in the first place - my husband and I accidentally found ourselves at Mon Cheri Diamonds. The prices were much better than others we had seen and the stones and designs were very desirable. In a word their designs were gorgeous! My husband selected my diamond first then we selected the setting. This was an anniversary ring but the ring didn't have the matching band with matching stones so they made one to match. Perfect! It is unique and classic and I always get great compliments. Mon Cheri also took some of my other large stones and made a multi stoned pendant. That was in 2005 and the design is being shown this season at all retail jewelers! They know their stuff and are ahead of current jewelry design trends.
