Bumping up my rating for Great Plains Veterinary Clinic & Hospital…read more First, I have worked with them on a few occasions this year with my sister-in-law's fosters. Second, they were at my rescue when I found out kind of last minute that my dog needed a Leptospirosis Vaccine as required by a boarding outfit in Hot Springs, Arkansas for our vacation trip. My vet (Dal Paso Animal Clinic) also here in Hobbs, New Mexico, doesn't include the Lepto or offer it separately. Hobbs Animal Clinic would not pick up the phone when I called. And the only other place I called before Great Plains was Double J. Their price was I think $80 for the vaccine and $27 for a required examination - or maybe I have it backwards, but I think I have it right. PLUS, Double J didn't have an appointment available for my dog for another week - that would have been WHILE we were in Arkansas. Great Plains answered right away. They did need me to make an appointment, but it was the same day - just later that afternoon plus they did not charge for an exam. My dog's shot was $42 and so worth it because she was a great traveler. All of the ladies who work here are so nice and understanding. I finally saw Dr. Kuitu for a split second. He has seemingly only aged a little since I last saw him 20 years ago.

When we do travel we travel with a small Munchkin cat, and long trips when she starts to be really vocal, we know it's time to make a pet stop. We came across this Pets Mart which was a nice stop for all of us. The place was clean and well kept. Kudo's to the staff for keeping a really tidy place. Shelves were well stocked, although we initially didn't stop to buy anything. We went in to see if they had the puppy training area, which they did, tho the staff had dog training classes going on in the area. We wanted to see about using the enclosed area to allow our kitty to roam and use the traveling liter box that travels with us. The lady we spoke to was so kind and understanding, she mentioned using the vet area since they were closed, this was a Sunday. It worked perfectly. Kitty was happy. We did end up buying treats and toys. The young lady at check out was super nice. She loves cats, shared pictures of her's, loved on our Munchkin, and wished us well on our travels. Should we pass through again, we will definitely give this location another visit.

Fish and birds were available, though. The employees were welcoming and friendly. This place is open just in time for you to spoil your pets for Christmas! Check it out in the old Kmart plaza which is now referred to as Hobbs Junction Plaza. I renewed my rewards membership. I guess it expired after years of not maintaining it. Lol

Acosta's Aquariums has been a long-standing small business in the community…read more I'm an 80s baby & remember coming here often all the way through high school to pick out new friends for my aquariums. I always had a stronger nexus with non-human beings after visiting here even though I never wanted hardly any of them as pets. I brought my young daughters with me on August 23, 2023. This place hasn't really changed one bit. Their fish are mostly healthy looking at affordable prices. They sell freshwater and saltwater fish and other creatures. They still have a room dedicated to birds - namely parakeets, cockatiels, and finches. Another separate room for reptiles, arthropods & arachnid species also still exists. At the front entrance their "furball" critters take precedence... rabbits, hamsters, ferrets, and hedgehogs. I loved their baby tortoises - so darn cute! They seem to sell out quickly of axolotls and ferrets and a few other more rare animals. All of the supplies you would need are sold here too. I know several folks who come here for mice for their snakes and crickets for their frogs and bearded dragons. The owners are super friendly & ready to assist you. I'm hoping my daughters will continue to do well in school and such so they may earn the privilege of taking one of these critters home one day... The only thing I would change about this place is the outside is quite demure and boring. It doesn't match what's on the inside at all or the personalities of the owners. I needed a place for my large dog, and she graciously answered all of my questions via text in a reasonable amount of time. This is BY FAR the most affordable place I have ever been to. In saying that, here are a few tips: Julianna is flexible, but try your best to drop off and pick up when you say you will if she is available. She cannot guarantee availability. Text before arriving there. Julianna prefers texting because she usually cannot hear on the phone when she's taking care of all the animals. Lol. For everyone's safety - with pets going in and out at various times - plus a busy street in front of their shop, Massey's keeps the front door locked... so text! Bring any and all food, treats, toys, and bedding you want your pet to have. My dog is healthy. Needs no medicine. She has no major behavioral issues, so I'm not sure how specialized this place may get... Venmo payments are accepted. Rates for my dog were $25 per day as of June 23, 2025. My dog stayed a total of 7 days (drop off 9 am on June 18 and picked up before 4:30 pm on June 24). Final notes - my dog LOVES Julianna. My girl didn't even get sad when I left. LOL. Guests are to stay up front. Once I left, the friendly pet-sitter placed my dog in her own separate kennel and allowed her "big yard" play time 2-3 times per day by herself. It may not be high end boarding or a luxury setting, but my dog came home happy, healthy, and with no issues.

It's primarily a feed store for livestock and pets. There wasn't anyone around on 3/4/2024 when I walked in the feed sack area which is fairly substantial. No pricing on anything that I noticed. But they had baby chicks in! Also, they had green onions for planting that looked pretty good. I highly suggest you checkout the community board that's hung outside of the "main entrance." They have phone numbers and other info posted for things like border collie puppies, bales of hay, and horse shoe services for sale. Their hours are Monday-Friday 8:00-5:30PM with a lunch break from 12-1. Saturday 8:00AM-noon. Closed on Sunday. Check them out just south of Hobbs on the Eunice Highway.
