What a gem of a find! We stayed just around the corner, and so glad we stopped in! We ordered the coconut cake and the apple cake to go, and both were absolutely delicious! My husband commented that it was the best dessert he'd had in awhile (and we've sampled plenty over the years!) Key Lime Pie is the absolute best! It's light but delectable. Hands down the best key lime pie I've ever had. We ordered the first four thing on the menu . Personally The Key Lime Pie and the Secret Garden Apple Cake were my top favorite. Such a cute concept and an easy walk off the main road of Blue Ridge. It felt like a local gem and Lisa was serving us, the owner and chef. Lisa takes the dessert drinks up a notch and adds a fun twist on desserts. For example, I ordered plain milk with chocolate sauce on the sides of the cold mug and on the rim. It's my new obsession, so good. The key lime has caramel - just some fun twist that makes this restaurant special. The inside was quiet and spacious. Tables and chairs with three large booths. We got a key lime pie slice and a coconut cake slice to go. The desserts were so good we forgot to take pictures! The key like pie is one of the bests I've ever tried. So smooth, silky and decadent! The coconut cake was delicious as well. At first it looked like it was a dried cake, but after tasting it, it was moist, flavorful , just delicious! We went in here at the end of a day of hikes. We were on our way back to our cabin. We just crushed some pizza and really wanted something sweet. So, a Dessert House seemed perfect. We popped in for dessert and coffee after the art exhibit at the Art Center downtown and were very pleased with our choice. We had an apple cake with coffee that was delicious and decadent. My better half bad a chocolate martini and completed his chocolate overload by having a 3 layer chocolate cake. If sophistication is what your'e longing for, well, I'm confused. We got to go orders of the mocha and apple cake along with a mini cup with hot fudge drizzle. The apple cale was delicious but only with the ice cream lending a familiar sweetness to the dish. The chocolate cake wa as too grainy in texture, was weird, almost like a gluten free almond flour mouth feel to it. The icing on the chocolate cake though was money. The chocolate cup with ice cream in it, is exactly those two items. The chocolate bowl is very good, the ice cream is good, but the chocolate drizzle is more like ghirardelli chocolate syrup, good but nothing to write home about. Based on my first experience, the customer service was great, the chocolate cup was fantastic, everything else was a "pass" especially for the price. Some of the desserts are from family recipes. I prefer a more unique variety of dessert options but they do run specials which seem to change quite a bit. So warm, welcoming, and accommodating. She was very attentive and friendly. We ordered drinks from amaretto hot chocolate, toasted coconut lattes, and a couple special items, to share and taste within our group. We all agreed, everything was delicious!
