If you're looking for donuts for a large event where people aren't super picky, this is the place to have it. They have a good variety of donuts to chose from and mix/match. The pricing is great here, which is why it's a good place for large events or treating your employees. I always like the traditional glazed donut, that's the measuring bar for my assorted donuts. My kid was present and excited otherwise I would have left immediately at this point. The donuts were not bad, considering we stopped by around 2pm. They were still tender, and good with a cup of coffee. The SO liked the fritters, and bear claws. The old fashion donuts were not hard, not too much glaze, and also not greasy. Inside - plenty of room. I mean, they could easily place 3 sets tables for four and still enough for a few people to stare at the donuts or the menu. They have a lot of seating, fridges for bottled drinks, and a decent hot menu. It really reminds me of a mom and pop version of the DD chain. It is tough getting the perfect cake donut. We gorged ourselves on donuts while we waited for the sandwich to finish. This sandwich was huge. It was made on wheat bread with turkey, BACON, avocado, alfalfa sprouts, lettuce, onions, tomatoes, cheese..and yum! It was really delicious! The bread was moist and the veggies were crisp! This place has fantastic, big sandwiches for a great price. I tried the turkey sandwich on sourdough with avocado and the tuna melt also on sourdough. The nice lady suggested I get my bread lightly toasted and it was delicious. They also gave us a free surprise donut, which was kind and made the experience that much better. Great sandwiches for breakfast or lunch and their bagels are absolutely heavenly. They have a perfect crispy chewy texture. The owners are very nice, especially to my elderly mom whom they greet as if she was a member of the family. I always stop here when I visit SJC. These donuts are definitely the best ones I have found in the area and the quality of the dough is far better than at the competing donut shop right down the street. While far from being gourmet baked goods, they are what you would expect when craving a typical American donut. It is worth mentioning that almost all of them are glazed or have icing on them, which I am not a fan of. I can't hold that against their doughy goodness though and won't take a star off for something that is purely my personal preference thanks to a European upbringing. Also, the owners are super friendly and generous too. More than once I have had them throwing in something for free like a few donut holes or even a whole donut or two. They know how to treat customers and always have a positive attitude. The place is nearly impossible to find as neither Yelp nor Google will accurately get you there. They take you to the wrong shopping plaza across the street. This place is right next to Domino's and is pretty hidden between the Vons and RiteAid plazas. The first time I almost gave up and went to Donut Hut in the RiteAid plaza since it is so close by. Donut Hut happens to be next to a Pizza Hut, so remember that you are looking for the place next to Domino's. I actually went into Donut Hut out of frustration but after looking at their cheaply made donuts I walked right back out and decided to search further. Today I learned that "NO PUBLIC RESTROOMS" means the cashier can take your money and your order and then pretend you are public rather than a customer. He can then lie and (1) say he is not the owner, and the owner is at another location and can't be reached right now, and (2) insist that when he needs to use the bathroom, he goes to another store. If anyone wants a chance at the American dream, they are going to have to regard their customers with the utmost respect and offer more than the right to refuse servicing them. By asserting myself and clarifying that I have been driving for 8 hours, am sick and need to use the restroom, and that I am a customer and not a "public" exploiter, I was rewarded by being chased to my car and video recorded as I was yelled at for opening my mouth. They don't taste greasy but are flavorful and they have a decent variety. They make bomb blended coffees and smoothies. This is an awesome family run donut shop! They're seriously so nice here and you can tell they take pride in their business. I've only been in here for breakfast items and am usually in and out in under 5 minutes, but somehow they always remember me and what I usually order. The ham and cheese crossionts are really good, and so are the breakfast sandwiches. They also have a variety of sandwiches and smoothies, althoughI have never tried them. I work in San Clemente and there are bagel and donut shops that are closer to my work, but I would much rather make the stop here in the morning! Great place. read more
