I was in Middletown and on Main Street in the mood for a bite to eat, so I decided to stop off at Mondo. This is an Italian restaurant serving food such as pizza, salads and paninis. The ambiance inside is quite casual, but with a feel that makes you want to sit down. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, I opted to eat outside, though. I ordered the arugula salad and fried cheese, which are their mozzarella sticks. After about 20 minutes of waiting and shopping around town, I came back and my food was ready. The arugula salad was very large, but quite tasty. The arugula and tomatoes were fresh and the cheese was tasty. The mozzarella sticks were filling, but had a nice crunch and paired well with the fresh tomato sauce for dipping. Altogether, the food at Mondo is quite tasty and I would recommend it! read more

I've been a regular at Mondo for years. This pizza heavyweight can go toe-to-toe any day of the week with other M-Town heavy hitters like Illiano's and Sicily. Went for an earlier dinner and got seated immediately. The restaurant was smaller than I expected but I was obsessed with the inside. Our booth was cozy and had plenty of room. Our pizzas came out very fast and were delicious. I just wish they had a little more char to them. We've done take out a few times and for our first time dining it, it was a great experience. Can't believe I haven't made my way here before! Happy for the spontaneous trip here with my parents to celebrate Mother's Day with a to-go lunch to enjoy around the corner by the river. We all ordered paninis (Turkey Avocado, Chicken Pesto, & Fresh Mozzarella) I wish I had gotten to snap pictures of the other two paninis but being ravishingly hungry, we quickly dug in before that was possible. My first reaction was "OMG these servings are huge!" I mean for $10.95 a sandwich how can you go wrong?! Depending on how hungry you are, sharing the panini may be a great option. Since it was a Saturday it didn't seem like the lunch menu was available where half servings of paninis are an option. The food was so tasty and the panini bread was so fresh and had a great delicate crunch on the outside but soft chewy goodness on the inside. The panini fillings were enjoyed by all and despite the size some of the paninis were devoured with no leftovers to spare! The takeout experience couldn't have been better! The online ordering app provided customization options galore and everything we checked off was taken care of by the Mondo staff , the order was ready when promised, and they even went so far as to label each box with what was inside. It is clear the service here is above and beyond. I will definitely come back for takeout and a dine-in experience in the future! On my daughter's college visit, found this place just steps from our hotel. The salad and pepperoni pizza was excellent! So good that we went back on our last night in town and ordered the same food. Only slight thing was the olives were way too salty in the salad, but that is a total nitpick as I would just ask for no olives if I were here again. read more

I've been coming here for a few years now...and frequently. My usual order is the Seasonal Sangria, and the Fresh Mozzarella Panini (I add eggplant...it's DELISH and HUGE) with a side of fries - no condiment is needed. Sometimes I'll get the Eggplant Parm Panini and really like it too. For apps, I usually split the Caesar Salad or Burrata (both are amazing) with my boyfriend. He typically gets the Tuna Panini and loves it. Of all my visits, I've only had their pizza once - Veggie with brussel sprouts added. It was good, but I can never stop ordering my favorite panini. I've had my fair share of the seasonal sangrias, and I have to say they've all been hits...even the standard red and white sangrias are great. My absolute favorite one though is the Caramel Apple Sangria (not pictured)...I always make sure to stop by a few times throughout Fall to enjoy it. Back here with an update - we went with a large Mondo Special/Veggie pizza along with a Hot Honey "artisin pie". Again, the wait was short, the service was prompt, and the food amazing. The crust was thin as usual, and everything was great as usual. The Mondo Special would be good for meat lovers but filled me up a bit too quickly, the veggie was fine but not anything special to me, but the artisan Hot Honey pie really set today's dinner apart. There were so many flavours and nuances that were perfectly balanced - the basal flavour of mozzarella was not outdone by the gaminess of the goat cheese, mostly because the hot honey provided a nice touch of sweetness that was balanced with the umame of the sopressata (cured meat). Really, they have come up with something great and original here, and I love it! I can't wait until I get to eat here again - pizza is always on my mind! read more

Went for lunch and ordered the turkey avocado panini with eggplant fries. Sydney?? our waitress was wonderful, friendly and helpful with questions. Panini was delicious!! There was plenty of turkey, avocado and tomatoes on it so the bread wasn't the only thing you tasted. Potions were large and thankfully I split the panini with my husband. I never had eggplant fries and I was very impressed with how they were prepared. I'm definitely ordering those again. The restaurant was small and it could get a bit loud, however I was able to have a conversation and not overhear anyone else's unless they were really loud. Fantastic customer service and warm ambiance. Seating's a bit limited and you can't reserve in advance; however, once you're seated they really take care of your belly! Got the mondo pizza minus the mushrooms and it was more than generous for 3 people. The crust is on the thin side so expect to use the fork/knife on occasion. My friend downed the dozen wings and was ready for more! And the beer selection was good too, though it would've been nice to have more of a local selection if there are any breweries around. I love all pizza types: New York-style, thick crust, Chicago deep dish, etc. I have two of the best pizza places in the state 10 minutes away from me so I don't usually have to wander far to find a delicious slice. However, my best friend insisted Mondo is her favorite pizza place in the world and as it was her birthday, my fiance and I made the 40 minute drive to experience what Mondo had to offer. What I found at Mondo was nothing short of perfection. A flawless selection of appetizers, drinks, and pizzas paired with excellent service by our waitress Mikaela (which can be hard to do when serving large groups!). Both the appetizers and pizzas arrived hot and mouth-watering, while our various choices of beers, sodas, and endless Winter Sangrias came out swiftly to wash down our food. My fiance and I chose to split a large pizza with half Fresh Mozzarella and half Mondo Special. Both sides were absolutely delicious and we luckily had leftovers to take home to enjoy the next day. My friends got an array of appetizers including the spiedini and garlic bread pizzeta and everything was just so DELICIOUS! Althougth Mondo is definitely a drive for me, I was so beyond impressed with both the food, sevice, and atmosphere that I will have to make a trip back as soon as I can. Arrived at 11:30 on a Friday and was able to be seated right away. Was quiet with only a few other guests but perfect time for a relaxed lunch. Waiter was attentive and good with recommendations. We got the splendini which was flavorful with cheese and meat. It was light and great portion to split between two. For our meal with split one of the artisan pies, Truffle Pie. First of all our waitress Tracy was amazing! Such a hard worker and so sweet. Our food was great. The risotto fritters with whipped ricotta .... Oh my god. Amazing! And the pizzas we got were the sausage/pistachio and then we did a build your own of with pepperoni, hot honey, and ricotta. Both were AMAZING!!! The only thing we didn't love was the eggplant fries ... they were too thick so they like absorbed all of the fry oil and that's all you could taste.
