I live right down the street and Mondos has become my home away from home. They BREW A GREAT CUP OF BLACK COFFEE of every type. Their black coffee is perfect just on its own which is both incredibly rare and important if I'm going to frequent any coffee shop. The employees are both casual and friendly. When I first moved to Chico my apartment didn't have internet access-- luckily the owner told me to take advantage of their free wi-fi they leave on even AFTER hours. Here are some other great things about Mondos:: -Get the Chicano. It'll change your life. -They'll customize and take the time on any weird/specific/picky drink you want -They also have bacon flavored coffee and the owner loves to experiment with new flavors. -Their sandwiches are EXCELLENT. I'm there after every heavy night of drinking, or any other time I want a damn-good sandwich. -They celebrate 'May the Fourth be with you' in honor of Starwars and have pastries and drinks to match. -Plenty of couches and tables for a study sesh or a big group of people -If you get in there before 8 a.m. you may be able to see the rarely-emerging local Chico farmers in large numbers grabbing a cup of joe. I recently visited Mondo's Café after it was kindly recommended to me by a lady I truly appreciate. I stopped by around 9am to pick up an Americano and two bagel sandwiches -- one for myself and one for the friend who suggested the spot. There were two young men working that morning. The gentleman at the register was polite and welcoming, and he prepared my coffee just as requested. The Americano was decent -- nothing remarkable, but it did the job. That said, the overall atmosphere felt a bit low-energy. The old furniture and lingering smell from the worn-out seating gave off a tired vibe. I didn't feel very comfortable sitting on the couches while I waited. As for the bagels, they were a bit of a miss. The combination of ingredients -- dry tomatoes, artichoke hearts, and cheese -- felt overly complicated and didn't come together well. The texture was soggy, and the flavor just didn't land for me or my friend. I drove a fair distance to try Mondo's, and while I appreciate the warm service, the food and overall ambiance didn't quite meet expectations. I recommend Mondos to all my friends. Mondos has great food and drinks. The brew bar is awesome. If you have a Semi sweet tooth their banana nut bread, carrot cake, and pumpkin bread are some of my favorites. For something really sweet, try the lemon bars. Mondos has a great staff that treats customers like guests and not like they are trying to hurry you through. They have fast service even when they are busy and if there is a delay for some reason they explain and try to make the customer happy. They run a work training program too so you can feel good in spending your money at an establishment that is compassionate and gives back to your local community. They are located near enough to the college to walk but not downtown So they have a cozy atmosphere with a porch you can sit on without being solicited. The porch has lots of plants surrounding you and is a very nice place to spend an afternoon :-) The inside is great too, and has little cozy nooks that are great for reading, chatting, or catching up on some homework. And all customers get free Wi-Fi :-) Mondos is my favorite little getaway and a must try! read more

I have never left a review before on the interenet, but i feel like Mondo's deservs it! Living right down the street, Mondos has become my home away from home! There Coffee taste great, there blended drinks are amazing, but the food is what takes the cake. Hands down best breakfast you can eat. I like the way they wont hesitate to make any funky, different or picky drink of your choice, cause trust me im picky :P Staff is friendly and talkative, (some more then others) but that's alright. A few times i have felt they are a tad under staffed because they do get super busy, but its only because there the best and everyone knows it = ) Every few days ill bring my toddler in with me and he just loves it there because they actually have a small kids corner with legos and puzzles, what other coffee shop offers that? The environment is great as well as the layout, there is always a nice quiet relaxing place to sit surrounded by good vibes and beautiful plants and decorations. I used to like Mondos a lot. I give 2 stars because I still enjoy the coffee and food i know they are capable of making. However, recently there staff has been just AWFUL!. I think they have issues with there hiring and employees because there is constantly somebody new behind the counter, and they don't seem to be trained well enough to be working an all day shift on there own :/. lately I haven't got my drink the way I like it even once. That has happened about 5 times in a row now, I gave up. I wish they just had there old staff back, they were wonderful. If not, at least train your employees before sticking them out on the floor alone and confused, this last girl was so confused she was asking me if I knew how the drink was made.... Not what id like to see coming in for my morning drink, I feel they are just going a little down hill recently, sadly. read more

I think that this place is super underrated! I think it probably has kind of a bad rep, being in college area on Nord, but honestly, they have some really great coffee and a suuuuper great breakfast sandwich for sooo inexpensive! The staff is quite an assortment of personalities, some better than others, but over all the place is a little gem. I like that it is usually pretty calm and quiet when I go in and there are always seats. I have never been disappointed, and the mondo blend is one of the only coffees I can drink black! i definitely recommend. read more

Came in to try this place, it was 8 minutes until they closed, girl at counter was already counting drawer. I asked if they were open and she said ummmm and I said should I just go somewhere else? And she says "well I don't wanna turn you away but..." so I just turned around and walked out. Guess I'll never know if they have a good latte. Maybe don't count your drawer until you're actually closed. read more

When I'm in Chico I always stop by Mondo's. The staff is genuinely nice, they don't recite fake pleasantries from a corporate training manual. The coffee is great and the owner is usually hanging around just to serve the customers. Great local coffee shop. read more

Mondo's breakfast bagel sammies are my go-to. The coffee is always super tasty and they chai tea they stock is top shelf!
