My favorite Italian restaurant! I ate here weekly for 20 years when I worked in the area. The food is delish, I'm a big fan of the chicken noodle soup especially. It's a very generous bowl of seared chicken pieces, carrots, spinach and pasta simmering in a yummy broth. And they have gluten free options as well. Ok when you are new to a place but the owner stops by your table TWICE you know you are in a special place. Now let's talk food. I'm from the Philly area so I know Italian. This is by far some of the best Italian I've ever had, bar new. The service was impeccable and my balked ziti perfect. It had way too much Alfredo sauce, I would give it an okay, a little too soupy for me. Food was hot. Also, I was disappointed that bread was not provided as part of the meal. I have never been to an Italian restaurant that did not serve bread with the meal. Usually you get bread before you order, and more if you ask, sometimes before you ask. Serve was good. Our waiter greeted us quickly, brought food items in nice casual order. He was attentive enough without being intrusive. Everything thing was al carte. Okay I guess. We went to Moni's after a pleasant morning on Lynn Creek with refreshing mimosas. Our group chose some relatively calorie-dense meals, but that's to be expected from an Italian restaurant. My dish, the Tortellini Michelangelo was delicious, and was easily my favorite (after tasting everyone else's dishes). I did order some cheesy garlic bread for the table at the beginning, which was very quickly devoured! It was delicious and indulgent, which was a perfect beginning. Note that in terms of food quantity, you will get a lot of pasta and sauce, which is more than sufficient for a second meal. Overall, competent Italian food in Arlington, and a clear favorite of our friends Terry and Doug. I think I would come here again, just to try their pizza, which looked amazing. read more

This was my first time dining at Moni's Pasta & Pizza. I love that the restaurant is easy to locate and parking is in abundance. I arrived during dinner time, approximately 5pm. The restaurant itself has a nice ambiance and the decor is subtle. I was greeted and seated within seconds of arriving. My waiter was a trainee, but was extremely polite and respectful, but knew very little about the menu items. After browsing through the menu for about five minutes I was ready to order. I ordered the cheese steak w/ an order of spaghetti and meatballs. I was impressed by the amount of food I was presented with. I specifically gave this restaurant three stars due to the lack of flavor. The pasta was a bit watery and the cheese steak needed seasoning. A few fresh herbs and some garlic can go a long way especially when it comes to preparing "authentic Italian dishes". Needless to say that my first experience was not a positive one. Our yelp friends Doug and Terry raved about this place. We finally made it here and returned many times after. We met Mama and she is a very funny person. She is also welcoming. We are always seated quickly. They have many gluten free options here which is always a plus. I've ordered the Chicken Alfredo with gluten free pasta and also had the gluten free crust pizza. Both have been fantastic. Hubby has ordered meat balls, spaghetti,and tortellini. He enjoyed it all. He also loved the calamari here. This has to be one of our favorite Italian restaurant. Moni's is an absolute Arlington staple and is one of the most authentic joints you will find in area when it comes to good, home-cooked, Italian food. The portion are incredibly generous and their pink sauce is out of this world. You definitely need to start with the mushrooms gratinate. It is a crab stuffed mushroom dish with loads of goodness. I also love their calamari as well! One of my favorite dishes is the Chicken Rollatini. It is chicken stuffed with basil and mozzarella and is covered in their famous pink sauce and mushrooms. Come on peeps. What is not to love? I am not sure if I had ever really had a bad meal here. I love their veal dishes and their chicken parmesan as well. They also offer gluten free pasta and pizza for those of you that are gluten sensitive. I eat low-carb and asked for my plate to not include any pasta at all, which they can also easily do! One of the perks of Moni's is that it is BYOB and they do not charge a bottle service. They have the glasses and bottle opening tools, so feel free to just BYOB. My weakness is Italian food, so when you combine that with mom & pop charm and quirky décor (including a mural of Ol' Blue Eyes himself), then as far as I'm concerned you have yourself a home run of a restaurant. I came here with my sister for fellow yelper Chuck M's UYE dinner. They hosted our group in their private room, and gave us all the red carpet treatment with exceptional service throughout our meal. It's BYOB too (with no corking fee) which is awesome. I had planned to bring a bottle of prosecco, but accidentally left home without it. Chuck and Terry were kind enough to share their white merlot with us however, which was very sweet. They brought fresh bread and butter out to start, but we also decided to share an order of their cheesy garlic bread. While delicious, they use sliced cheese before baking so it all came off with a single bite. I would suggest maybe a shredded cheese blend with a few dollops of fresh mozzarella throughout. That way you could get cheese on each and every bite. For our mains, my sister ordered the chicken parmesan and I had rigatoni pasta with vodka sauce (my fav). It was great, and just as good the next day when I had my leftovers for lunch. My sister really enjoyed hers as well, and was able to take half of it home too since their portions are so generous. Much like vodka sauce, I will never pass up an opportunity to order tiramisu and theirs did not disappoint. It was a lovely night filled with wonderful company, warm hospitality, and good food. My biggest issue is the owner (wife) We are NOT from Arlington and came down to see my relative graduate from UTA. I was told to meet our party at this location but I didn't have a name of whom the reservation would be under. Since my relative wasn't answering due to still leaving the stadium I went ahead and enter the establishment and asked if there was a reservation for a party of 20. The hostess asked for a name I said Unfortunately I dont know it. She checks the books and see a "Diane for party of 20" I said I dont think that's us. As I frantically texted my siblings to find out if anyone knows a Diane. The owner walks up and says what's going on? The hostess tells her "oh they are here but don't know the name of the party" owner proceeds to ask if I'm Diane I say no. She's a very loud lady which isn't a bad thing but so u get a sense of this woman I feel it's necessary to mention. She talks over me and the hostess and say " GIVE THEM THE TABLE, WE WILL NOT WAIT FOR THE OTHER PARTY(Diane's party of 20). THEY DID NOT SHOW UP WHEN THEY SAID THEY WOULD". She then proceeds to tell me and the others with me to go ahead and take a room that was set up. The rest of the party slowly came in and then "Diane" shows up. The owner comes into the room and says if this was the party for Diane?! This again?! I thought we went through this. So I say no I'm not Diane and she says this room was for DIANE and now DIANE is here for her room! She says "it's fine stay here but next time DONT LIE" She says this in front of everyone and as I try to say excuse I did not lie she walks off. Here's the kicker the so called Diane outside waiting for the room is part of MY party and her name is NOT DIANE it's RACHEL. . So even after embarrassing me and screaming the wrong name all day (Diane) Which I absolutely did not deserve I still stayed and paid for the entire party. That being said the waiter was nice. Now to the food: I ordered chicken cantellini I actually liked my food. It was light in flavoring which I was actually looking for. My mother and son ordered lasagna wayyyy to cheese and too salty My sister ordered fettuccine and she said she was disappointed in the flavoring from the looks of it everything it was average except the homemade bread was pretty darn good! read more
