This place is worth trying! They have a good menu selection which includes many items from sandwiches, burgers, pasta, salads, omlettes, pancakes, waffles, and so forth. Breakfast is served all day! You're probably wondering why the word monkey is used in their title, well many of their smoothies and milkshakes have bananas in them. I took forever to order as usual so I inquired about their most popular dishes and ended up picking The Outlaw burger. Judging from the yelp photos, I knew I was in for a major fatty time. When it came I was in awe; a burger the size of my glass layered with a 1/2 lb of beef, lettuce, tomato, pickles, bbq sauce, cheddar cheese, chipotle aioli, bacon, and layers of onion rings. Choice of whole wheat or brioche bread. Served with shoestring fries, (+1.50 if you want waffle or sweet potato fries). It is served stabbed with a knife though the center so that you can push it down to make it fit in your mouth, and cut off pieces. Overall, the burger was good. Expect it to fall apart! The interior design was unique. Every table and set of chairs were different from each other. Walls painted and such. Service is good. Although they did not fill my friend's cup of water. It's a big pass for going to breakfast here. Food was bad. Burnt toast and country potatoes and cold scrambled eggs. The waffles with peanut butter were overpowered by the peanut butter. It was gross. The staff was not pleasant either. No smiles and very grumpy like they didn't want to be working on a Saturday morning. A "non-profit" business benefitting the community: Absolutely fantastic! Basket of Fries - with sweet potato, regular and shoestring fries was large and more than enough for 4 adults. Those sweet potato fries are addicting. Blackened Chicken Sandwich - Super Good and made with their own dry rub made of coffee grounds. I know, it sounded weird tome too, but it turned out great. Four stars for taste but two stars for service average out to a three star experience. Monkey Business has the potential to be a really great restaurant. The cook is fantastic. My veggie omelette with portobello mushrooms, spinach, tomato, cheese, and avocado on top was delicious and tasted just like homemade cooking. The pancake was good and the homemade whipped cream and banana made it a real treat. My friend got the egg white omelette and she loved her breakfast as well. This was her second visit as she had recommended it to me so we came together. The service was slow. The cook prepared the food in a timely manner but so many finished dishes sat waiting for servers to pick up that there was no space for more food. Several dishes sat a good five to eight minutes and probably hit their tables lukewarm at best. The issue was not a lack of servers. It was a lack of organization. They need a floor manager to help coordinate teamwork. If a dozen dishes are waiting to be delivered then it's not the time for other servers to mill around. They could help each other out and share tips. Overall I would not go again because the service was friendly but too slow and unorganized... but the food was good! read more

Like many other yelpers, I had booked marked this place for the longest time but never got the chance to come by. Finally my friend and I decided to have brunch here! YAY! :) We ordered the BBQ chicken salad: OMG... so big... it was seriously SO BIG!!! The friendly guy at the front did warn me that the salad is SUPER HUGE but didn't think it was ....THAT BIG. Enough about the size the taste, It was okay... I totally forgot to ask for dressing on the side ...It was a little too much dressing for me. The chicken breasts were covered in sweet BBQ sauce which was a plus to the salad. They had more than enough avocados and I rarely see places putting in that much avocados! :) YAY! the price was $9.95 but I think it was enough salad and chicken for two. we also ordered the SO CAL breakfast burrito. It had potatoes, eggs, bagon, avocado and jack cheese. This burrito was delicious! I did think that they could've added more ingredients so that the burrito won't have so much excess tortilla just wrapped up looking like quesadillas. the burrito was around $7 We ordered side of potatoes and scrambled eggs. The potatoes come out looking super delicious! and the eggs were cooked so it's not so soggy but not so dry, they come with no seasoning so that's your job to season it haha :) $3 per side (approx.) I ordered the soy vanilla latte but it tasted like cinnamon.. I don't know how I feel about my lattes with cinnamon so that was not something I wanted to get again.. $4 The place is nice, it's bigger than I thought it'd be and it's very spacious inside. The furniture and the decor makes the place cozy. The staff are so darn NICE! (well there were only two guys working at the time we went) hahah the guy that greeted us was SO nice, once he knew we were new to this place he was on point making a note of everything from popular to what's new on the menu. I'm giving them such a good review because they are a non-profit organization helping people that are in need. I think they are doing something wonderful here and the food honestly isn't so bad. Love the idea and story behind this cafe. For that reason alone, I'm a fan. This place gets quite busy on a Saturday morning for brunch, luckily the wait wasn't very long. There's a nice waiting area outside. The restaurant inside is quite spacious. The menu is very classic traditional American. We ordered a breakfast skillet, and a breakfast burrito. Both were your very typical basic breakfasts. Food was very simple, which isn't always a bad thing. Service was a tad bit slow though and it was really hard to flag down employees to get our coffees and drinks refilled. Didn't see our server again after we got our orders. Overall, it was a nice brunch and somewhere I've been wanting to try...but the lack of service and just 'ok' food isn't enticing enough to come back again. We come here all the time because it is right in front of our apartment complex. I know that service wasn't always the best, but we liked the food and the coffee. And today we decided to invite some of our friends here, and we were just beyond embarrassed for recommending the place. The skinny girl that wears glasses she's beyond rude all the time, rushes while you make your order and rolls her eyes every-time she takes your order and I think specially with her it has something to do with race, cuz I have seen her treating white folk way better or at least smiled, none of the servers do anything to provide at least mediocre customer service, and to think that you pay paying restaurant prices for my self serve diner. Monkey Business makes serious business out of breakfast. After a long run with my friend on a cold day, we decided to go to Monkey Business with is great reviews for their breakfast. When we got there around brunch time, there was understandably a long wait to be seated but there were several people who opted to order to go. While we waited, there were copies of the menu sitting around for us to peruse. Once my friend and I got seated, we were starving so we were ready to order and got the following: Egg McMonkey: A McDonald's Egg McMuffin on 'roids! There is an option between sausage and bacon and I opted for sausage. But I did not expect the nice thick sausage pieces cooked piping hot with the eggs and cheese sandwiched between nice flaky biscuits. In addition, it came with potatoes that were cooked to a nice crisp with light seasonings. Banana Walnut Waffles: Although I am not a fan of waffles, I found myself thoroughly enjoying these little blankets of fluffy confection. Cooked in between were pieces of banana and the candied walnuts provided a nice contrast of salty sweet. There is limited parking in the private lot so you are better off looking for parking on the street. In terms of service, they were pretty good and attentive. First things first, the wait was rather excruciating when it didn't need to be. Who knew there was an inside waiting room, tucked behind the busy dining area? Our group (and many others) waited outside in the hot sun when they could have easily told us there is an air-conditioned indoor room with seats. That would have been nice to know... I got the strawberry chicken avocado salad, which was okay. Everything worked... Except for chicken. It was pretty dry/overcooked :( but flavors were good otherwise. Everyone else got their food at the same time, except for one of my friends since there was an obvious delay with the arrival of her food. Not only that, her order of Huevos Rancheros...were missing her eggs entirely.... So really no "huevos" at all until we had to point it out to one of the servers. I loved the feel of the interior and appreciated the nice open windows. The staff were friendly and professional. The food was disappointing. I tried the huevos rancheros. It was bland and essentially uniform in taste. Plus, it was served with a side of black beans that were not drained well, so my dish was a soupy mess. I posted a photo of the aftermath... Huevos rancheros at $12. Overpriced and not a good value. My wife ordered the breakfast waffle sandwich. Served scrambled with bacon. The menu reads, "Two eggs - your way, country gravy and your choice of bacon, sausage or turkey bacon." The forgot to mention the cheese :(. After picking the cheese off, we found an underwhelming mix of sweet waffles and bland eggs. My wife did not finish her meal. Breakfast Waffle Sandwich at $9. Overpriced. My guess, less than $2 in ingredients and a big chuck of overhead. Not a good value. We also had a fresh fruit cup ($3) - this was decent, but how hard it is to screw up fruit? I always test the noise level, for a partially-empty restaurant it was 87dB at its peak and average 74db. On the loud side, but not uncomfortable. Parking - I suggest the street if available. My wife and I have dined your twice now. Once just by ourselves and this last time with a group of six with family. Both times I will say the food was solid, but not amazing. It's not a big place which is part of it's charm, and we've had to wait, which can be expected at some of these trendy breakfast places. However, during this last visit we could clearly see in the single dining room two very large tables that would accommodate our group and we were told we would have to wait 40 minutes for tables to clear. Perhaps the most frustrating is watching them clear the tables right away and then having it sit there empty for 15 minutes while we wait to be called to be seated. The waitress came to take our drink order and forgot one of our coffees which we did not receive until someone came around to refill the other coffees that had been delivered. As I mentioned the food that came out is basic and cooked well, but nothing innovative; perhaps for a breakfast joint that's OK, keep it simple and hearty. However, this seems to be a however review, three of the six breakfast meals came out cold and my toast came out without any butter. My first experience year was better, definitely a three star review, but in this last dining experience there were too many misses and perhaps too much monkey business to earn my business next time. read more

A friend recommended this place to try and to have some girl time. I loved the name of this and thought the concept was pretty awesome. They use fresh products and many from local growers around the area. Also they support children that need help! It is located pretty close to Fullerton College and many students come here to buy some really good food. To sum up my experience today in one word it would be flexible! Today I thought I was gonna have a group of 11 but however we had people constantly coming in.bi work in customer service and I would constantly be annoyed if I had to add people constantly to a table especially when they come at different times... So while I was at Monkey Business, I ate the country omelette and drank the latter there. Country omelette -$10. The portions are not bad! However, the potato and omelette was dry. They gave me a good amount of sausage in the omelette but the cheese was a bit overpowering. The toast was also not to my liking to be honest. In the end I was still full and ate everything. It was still edible!! Latte- I always have staff meetings on Friday so I go to various places to get coffee and of course the Latte is my favorite. The latte I got today was eh. It tasted burnt and also not strong enough. Would recommend if you do not really like strong coffee! Overall, I rate this place four stars because customer service with a smile and flexibility is a priority. The server with the long hair constantly checked in on us, gave us water, move the tables for us because we were being annoyingly large (our party like I said went from 11 to 20 and people coming in 10 minutes after the other) and always making us feel comfortable where we are at! i also want to say the other workers there did their best to accommodate us! But when a restaurant has many empty tables and many people waiting, when you seat two people at a table for eight, leaving tables for two empty. That is inefficient. They even left people like us, who support this nonprofit, wondering if we should go elsewhere (except we had already waited an hour). We totally understand and support the mission. However, if you run a restaurant... people come hungry. One and a half hours waiting... with tables empty, inefficient seating strategies Frankly, as much as we love the young people, the energy and the mission of Monkey Business Cafe, it was not worth it this time. Important... we ever got our coffee until after our food came and that was the good part. Consider offering a cup of coffee to people waiting. The entire shift seemed off. My first time here! LOVED it!!! I had the traditional breakfast with a pancake, egg, potatoes, and avocado along with a caramel macchiato with oat milk. I can always count on my sister in law to find the best hidden gems in Orange County! They are a small non profit cafe that serves fantastic food and the fact that they are there to benefit at-risk teens, makes them that much better! We were a party of 10 and arrived about 1 pm on a Saturday. There was no wait, so we were sat immediately. Our server took really good care of us. The food is served in large portions so there is definitely some for you to take home and enjoy later. Sometime they sell their Money Business seasoning, which I happen to love and buy several of them. Kinda bummed out they were out this last time as I was looking forward to bringing some back home to Nevada. Overall, this place did not disappoint with its food and great pricing. When I first went to Monkey Business, I was pleasantly surprised. I felt like I was in a trendy little house that just happened to serve the public. Lot's of bright colors and earth tones. There's plenty of friendly staff, however I do think they're lacking on the training just a tad. They're open 8am-3pm everyday so don't think you're going to have a late lunch there because you'll definitely miss out! As for their food. They don't have the biggest menu, but they do have a pretty solid one. I was torn between the Ortega scramble (because I love Ortega chilies), their huge berries and cream waffles, and their breakfast skillet. I ordered the Ortega scramble which consisted of Ortega green chilies, turkey bacon, tomatoes, and cheddar cheese. I'd say it melts in your mouth and is simply the perfect combination. They also have really good coffee, and I'm a totally coffee snob. I think my only real issue here is the parking. Since it can get busy at times, and there's only street parking, you sometimes have to walk quite a bit because it's in the heart of a residential neighborhood and right next to a college. I also noticed that people mention their lack of WiFi, but in my opinion it's not that type of cafe. Just enjoy your meal and move on with your day. If you want to sit on your laptop, go down the street to Starbucks. All-in-all, Monkey Business is a solid choice for a breakfast/brunch location. read more

Came here with my friend for lunch. They serve breakfast all day, plus have a wide variety of lunch choices. Everything is reasonably priced, ranging anywhere from $6-13 or so. Our waiter recommended the chilaquiles or flautas, but I opted to try the traditional breakfast, which came with two eggs, two sausage links, fruit and a giant pancake. I upgraded the pancake to a banana walnut one, which was really yummy and worth the few extra bucks. Although the food was pretty solid, it was fairly average and standard compared to your standard breakfast cafes. Nothing really stood out as particularly memorable, but I'd be interested in coming back to try one of their more popular dishes. The cafe itself is really cute and eclectic, as none of the chairs match and all of the tables are unique too. I like the cause the cafe supports, plus the staff is really nice and I admire what they are trying to do with their lives. Parking is a bit limited, but they do have a lot in the back and there's quite a bit of street parking in the nearby residential area.
