Aspen had been struggling with some behavior issues toward Sofia, and we weren't sure how to handle it. We also wanted Sofia to learn some manners. Zion came in with so much knowledge, patience, and kindness. She took the time to really get to know both dogs and customized the training to fit their personalities and our household, since we also have another dog, Bowie (6). Thanks to Zion, we've seen a huge shift in Aspen's behavior, and Sofia is thriving too. The tension between them is lessening and it's so rewarding to see them getting along and building a friendship. I would have given her a 5 star review anyway - but way to go on customer service Christine! Christine does Sports, Working Dog, Therapeutic and Puppy Massage as well as Equine and small animal Acupressure. She is also a certified dog trainer which surely helps her understand underlying issues causing muscle problems. At the Spring Fling she did an awesome job of turning Boogs and Scrubbie into marshmallows (see pic) my Mia on the other hand was a challenge. Mia has horrible separation anxiety when left with a stranger (not when left alone at home that is a different type of anxiety) and having a stranger massage on her was not relaxing or pleasant at all for her - Christine explained that that was why she was shedding and putting out so much dander while being massaged. I am very interested in working with Christine to help my Mia feel more comfortable when left with strangers and am also excited that she loves working with rescue organizations! I am sure all my Rescue Foster Pups that usually come to me with their own issues could benefit from her massage and behavior understanding!

The owner, Julia is always quick to respond to my emails, which was super helpful when I was extremely busy trying to do literally five things at the same time. While our kitties were there, she sent us reports in text with photos of our kitties. It was really nice to know/see that our kitties were being taken care of. We looked at the same reports again and again since we missed our kitties so much. :) Julia seems to be very knowledgeable about cat behaviors and gave us good advice when we picked them up. Since everything went so smoothly, we actually came back again for cat daycare three days after the boarding. When we picked them up, it was before their pick-up/drop-off hours, but Julia was so nice and flexible; she let us pick them up early. Their website was easy to use. You can enter your pet's information into the system in advance uploading vaccination records and make reservations for day care/boarding. I would definitely recommend Second Home Boarding!!

(i left a google review as well and was met with the owner telling me i was making "false" and…read more"misleading" claims which doesn't answer any of my intial concerns about the facility at all. i have two working eyes and i'm not gonna be told i'm lying. when i literally saw the shock collars charging in their large kennel room, and i had smelled unmistakable chemicals on my dog.) Picked up my pup from here after daycare and immediately noticed some red flags, the use of shock collars without notifying the owners is very sketchy and unethical. I don't know if they used it on my dog personally because obviously I wasn't there, but I noticed an array of them, I don't know why they would need so many if they weren't using it on customers dogs as well, if they want to use them on their own dogs power to them, but to put them on other peoples animals without consent is very questionable... not to mention my dog came home disgusting and covered in dirt, also smelt slightly of a chemical (?). I read another review where this also had happened to their pet and this seems to be a reoccurring issue. I'm not sure how they disinfect the facility but it's obviously not safe like the owner claims. I will not be bringing my dog back here as I left feeling like things were being hidden from me, which is absolutely unacceptable and really shows how much they care about these animals.

An important message that I sent was missed, which led to my cat's waste collecting over a period of days in the tub, and with my cat eventually peeing on my bed (he is beyond hygienic and selective with where he goes to the bathroom). Even with the missed message, I would think their noses would lead them to the tub? It absolutely stank when I got home (there was also dried cat vomit in the bathroom - I just live in a studio). And I then had to spend hours washing everything on my bed, getting Urine Destroyer, etc... really not ideal after getting home from a trip. This is in addition to lights being left on, pill pocket pack not sealed after use, and litter and garbage preferences not followed. Also, I would have preferred they contacted me when my cat decided not to eat his medicine the first day, than to decide how to handle it on their own, although their idea wasn't a bad one. They are perfectly nice people but I would say that if your cat requires anything beyond basic care (throw food in a bowl and scoop box), look elsewhere. Details and communication are important. I communicated some of this to the company and they offered me a free visit in the future, which I thought was a bit presumptuous. They did play with him and actually spend time with him (instead of feeding and dashing), which is something I do appreciate.

We have one cat who we love dearly, and one visit they completely left our cat endangered and the owner of this company (which says a lot about the company itself) took ZERO accountability, not only that we found our account inactivated by them which means they are refusing us service after a mistake they made- and we can no longer even contact them. They left our Patio balcony door- we live on the third floor in an apartment WIDE open with our cat who can clearly open the screen door that was slightly open. That is SO dangerous. We have a ragdoll who don't have much reflexes and he could fall and die from such a height, or even escape or jump out and seriously injure himself. They left the door open and left the keys inside with no way to get back in while we were on vacation. Then we got one text saying they left this door open and we were shocked when we checked our pet camera. This is ABSOLUTELY unacceptable. The only apology we got from this horrendous accident was "i apologize." She didn't call once, and if we hadn't seen this text message promptly i feel as though she wouldn't even have cared and went on their day. DO NOT TRUST YOUR BELOVED PET WITH THESE PEOPLE. You've been warned!!! This was over memorial day weekend and nobody was even in the leasing office to help which is super scary. Bad experience overall from a pet sitting company we've been trusting for awhile now which is so disappointing. I can see now they don't care about pets.
