Despite other orchards/pumpkin patches absolutely price gouging families, Anderson Orchard remains the same and reasonably priced. Hours for September and October: 8am-8pm (or dark) We drove from Noblesville, I was so happy they were still open! Plenty to do for the kids, playground, bounce houses, straw pile, photo ops. They offer U-pick apples & Pumpkins or if you're in a hurry they're ready to grab from the red barn. Pumpkins are super reasonably priced at $.40 a Lb or pie pumpkins for $3. The concession stand is open on Saturday & Sunday. I love the fried biscuits with apple butter & of course you must get the apple cider slushies!! I don't remember seeing it prior, but they had apple cobbler warmed up with ice cream, delicious! I just love this place so much! Don't leave without a bag of apples, Carmel apples, apple cider & get some of those fried biscuits! Highly recommend bringing the whole family.

It was nice that they didn't charge to come to the grounds and pay just to be there. Would definitely come again.

Talk about being transported back in time! I've always driven right past this place thinking that…read morethey just offer top quality tomatoes, but it's actually so much more than that. They have more than tomatoes, they've got other fresh produce, and fresh food - a full kitchen, actually. Serving up soups and sandwiches and walls and walls of candy if you have a sweet tooth. The area in the back for food was actually quite busy (it was lunch time on a Saturday), so I decided on just getting some sauces and fresh produce for home. I literally spent a good half hour going through every nook and cranny of this place. It truly transported me to another decade. Thankfully, I live pretty close. It's safe to say I'll be going back more often!

There's a sign in the salad bar area that tells customers a) The Famous Tomato has the freshest and…read morecleanest salad bar in Indy, and b) please don't touch the salad bar, and also wait behind this line so someone can help you create your salad. I guess this is how they maintain a salad bar that's so fresh and so clean. (No Outkast.) You animals used your grubby, bare hands one too many times to reach for the croutons, and now look what you did. Now we have to talk to someone if we want a salad, and point at what we want like a child. It's all your fault! Actually, it's probably for the best because the salad bar did look delectable and immaculate. So many fresh a clean vegetables! They also have an area with soup and chili, which the staff will also help you with. There are some tables in the salad bar area, so you can sit and eat your food inside the shop. Mostly, though, The Famous Tomato is a specialty food store. Lots of old fashioned candy, hot sauce and barbecue sauce, novelty sodas, so many different flavors of Moon Pies, and random things like salted peanuts in the shell. It's also a little farmers market, so you'll find lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. The Famous Tomato feels like a hidden gem, even though it's right there in plain sight in Speedway. For some reason, I would pass by it and I thought it was a Fazoli's? It's most certainly not, though. When you step inside, you'll see that this is a special place, with lots of special and local foods.

It just so happened that I was looking for something to do Saturday morning with my mentee so I…read moredecided to go to the farmers market to teach her about it. This farmers market was well organized and they had a lot of different vendors here. I did notice that you must get here early because by 11am some vendors are running out of items. There was this corn vendor and that line was so long but I did notice that he sold out by 11:30an. People were talking about how sweet the corn is from there. I more so came to the farmers market to come window shop but I did end up buying a lemonade and some ice cream. The lemonade was very refreshing and delicious. I was happy I bought the lemonade and the price was not bad at all. It was $7 for a nice size. I also ended up seeing the dog store at the event so of course I could not leave without buying my dog some dog treats which she really enjoyed them. I will definitely be coming back here to this market. It is in great location also.

The fresh corn line stayed long until the moment they sold out. I was thirsty and the lemonade from the popcorn and lemonade stand was tasty. I will definitely be back to provide them with repeat business. SPOILER ALERT: Overall, this was a great farmers' market, but there were way too many dogs. I also noticed several dogs relieving themselves mid-walk, right on the concrete, which I found pretty gross, especially with so much food around. Germs can easily spread in that environment. On top of that, I have a severe allergy to pet dander. Many people don't realize how this can affect others when they let their dogs wander instead of keeping them close on a leash. I grew up with dogs and know there are dog parks, but I wish people would leave their pets at home in the air conditioning when visiting places with food. This is the reason for a lower rating. Anyways, I will return early to get fresh fruit, corn, and the lemonade.
