Its been 6 months since Josh, Zack and the Stratham Monro team changed my clutch on a 2016 Subaru. First of all the price was very fair, they beat a local Subaru dealer by hundreds. In addition, their work is solid, they know what they're doing and they honor word on cost and schedule. Lastly the customer service was exceptional. If I could give a zero star review then I would. Here's what will happen: You'll go in for an oil change, a cheap oil change, then they'll pull out your glove box (nothing to do with the oil change) and inspect your cabin filter. Then they will tell you to change it. Thinking its convenient just to have them do it, you go along. Don't, you can change in yourself for under $20 in five minutes compared to over $60! It's how they compensate for their cheap oil changes. After getting my car back, my heat was extremely noisy. After driving it right back and telling them I was told by the "mechanic," "there is probably just some debris that fell from the filter and the fan should chop it up and It will go away in a week." Long story short, I had to go into the filter myself and pull out the big rats nest they left siting in my heating fan and my heat still makes noise. read more

WORST customer service EVER. Sister company, Tire warehouse, broke a lug bolt on my 1 year old truck while changing a flat tire. Instead of taking care of the problem themselves, they stuck me with getting the repair done and sent me to Munroe. I dropped off the truck on a Saturday and picked up on Monday to find that I now have 19 black lug nuts and 1 CHROME. When I asked about the chrome lug I was given " Does it matter ?". When I said yes it does the truck is only one year old and I would like the lugs to match the extremely unprofessional guy behind the desk began to argue with me. It would have been a very simple thing to deal with. " I'm sorry that is all we had in stock, I can order the correct one and we can install it when it arrives" Instead I got " you're lucky we did the job at all". The person behind the desk should NEVER have a job in front of the public. Finally after posting a yelp review about my terrible experience with tire warehouse I heard from the corporate office. After spending about 20 minutes going over the issue with them they said they would have the regional manager get in touch and try to resolve the issue. He or She NEVER got in touch. Monro in Stratham was conveniently located for me and despite some previous weak reviews, I took a chance on these guys because someone remarked that they were under new management. I was not disappointed. Rick was about as up front and professional with me as one could expect. They quickly and accurately assessed my muffler problems and worked diligently to find the right parts to complete the service to the satisfaction of me and my wallet. I'd give them a higher rating but I just got my car back and want to put a few miles on it first to make sure all is well. We are new to Stratham. Finding a local mechanic I like and trust is always important to me. I've brought my car in a couple of times to Jim and his group and really enjoyed/appreciated their service. For a patched tire I had done at a different location Jim showed me where mistakes were made and then the result after Jim's team patched it. When the brakes needed to be redone he showed me the wear and tear that had occurred on all of them. I will continue to take my Jeep to them. read more

Things have changed for the better here. Had to bring my car in twice this last few months (first for my radiator and today for my brakes). The new manager, Keith has been pleasant and accomodating throughout each experience. My radiator blew out on a weekend right after a major exam. These guys took my car in on Sunday morning and had the car up and running again in a few hours. I suggest folks take the new management into consideration and give these guys a shot :) read more

I got a second opinion that completed debunked Monro's lie. The part was perfectly fine, and another part was to blame. The repair cost a fraction of Monro's estimate. Made an appointment over the phone. Dropped the car off. Before he even did the alignment and rotation, he started in about tie rods and ball joints may need to be replace, but their "pre-alignment inspection" would cover that. I told them. If it needs anything please take it down off the lift and call me. 15 minutes later the guy calls me. Says wheel bearings are bad. I said ok, I'll come pick it up. When I get there they did an inspection on my car and failed it for tire tread and a powersteering leak! They revoked my inspection. Had wheel bearings looked at by another, they were fine. They didn't even have enough time to really look them over. THIS IS A NEW DIRTY WAY OF UP SELLING THAT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. They were trying to turn a simple alignment into a $2,500 job. I would never go there again. From the moment I walked in and the guy yelled over smoking a cigarette, be right with you. I should have just left. 11/27/19 UPDATE: I will call the 800 number below in their standard bad review reply... keep you posted... It's a standard, "on hold" 800 number for a representative customer service line. Waiting... Waited on hold for 5 minutes. Hung up. read more

After leaving my car to be serviced on 3/8/17, my belongings were obviously rummaged through in the center console and $3 in one-dollar bills I had counted that morning were gone. Luckily I had enough change left to get through the toll driving back after picking the car up. I have taken 2 vehicles to this shop for new tires and other work and each time they have called me shortly after dropping it off to significantly increase their quoted price. This latest service appointment was to replace a leaking radiator. The first quoted material price was around $200 (labor was another ~$200-250), then I was called after dropping it off to say the price was over $360 for the radiator alone. I was able to purchase it for $196 at Autozone later that day (retail price). I was also told the repair would take 2.5x as long because the "anti-theft" system would have to be moved to access the radiator. 2 other mechanics told me that was false, including the one who I watched replace it on 3/9/17 who showed me that there was no such system in the way. I will not be returning to this location. read more

Worst experience I've ever had at a shop. I was born and raised as a car enthusiast and just moved back into the area here. I had some exhaust work done where I used to live and know how the process for a custom exhaust install goes. I just needed a muffler replaced for a different sound, thought it would be easy enough. To start with, I was charged $160 to saw off my old muffler and weld a new one on. It only cost me $120 to get custom pipes bent and my muffler welded on before, so I was clearly overcharged. Secondly, my muffler now sits deep in the bumper and doesn't come to the end, I should come flush with the bumper like both my previous exhausts did. And finally the worst part was when the older man, seemingly in charge, left and came back several minutes later with a 12 pack of beer, looked at me and said "a little after work fun" and proceeded to open a beer on the shop floor and start smoking a cigarette. I will never bring my business here ever again, you can be sure of that read more

I went here to get a simple state inspection. I would have gone somewhere else but it was one of the few places that were open Sundays. The mom and pop places I would normally go to were all closed. They did end up passing my car, rightfully so, but only after trying to get me to replace this or that. Which of course I said no because my car is fine and I do much of my own work. They were really picky and they guy didn't really know his stuff. He thought my stainless steel brake lines were "illegal" until his other buddy looked at them and rightfully informed them that they were fine. After finally taking his time to finish the inspection, the other guy put on my inspection sticker and I watched him slam my driver's side door into the lift while I was paying in the office. As I got in my car I noticed the guy left all of the old sticky residue from my old inspection sticker all over the window. If he had simply used a razor blade like every other shop in the world it would have looked clean. I would avoid this place unless you absolutely need to have your car inspected on a Sunday. I would not trust them with doing any work. read more

I've gone to Monroe a couple of times on the recommendation of Kiernans Auto. And every time I have left Monroe, I felt like I was taken advantage of. I would go for one thing and then a bunch of other issues would have to be corrected asap. What do I know? Well, after calling around for quotes on past work that had been done on my car, I finally realized that they were not only overcharging me but they were replacing things that didn't need to be replaced 'asap'. And to top it off, I found out this week that they overcharged my 80 year old friend my $250! If it wasn't for his family demanding that Monroe refund a large chunk of that $$, the poor guy would have been out an extra $250. I will never go here again. read more

Called at 9am to make an appointment for an oil change and state inspection. Was told to drop car off at 4pm. Dropped car off and was told they didn't have a record of the appointment, but that they would be able to get it done. I asked if they were sure because I didn't want to leave the car if they couldn't perform the work. I was assured that they would get it done and they would stay late if needed. I was called 5 minutes before closing time informing me to pick up my car and that no work had been performed. I was offered a half hearted apology for my wasted day. I will never go here again and would not recommend it to anyone either. When Ii tried to put a 1 star review on the munroe website, I keep getting an error message that says it won't except the review. Waited for 1.5 hours for an inspection when I finally asked what was taking so long they had forgot about it....mistakes happen but I wasn't even given an apology and that's all it would have taken to keep me as a customer. For some reason I decided to give them another shot and now here I am regretting it looking at my $1000 service bill and my truck is still having the same issues. DO NOT GET ANYTHING DONE HERE! They vandalize your car and like a previous writer stated they do not rotate your tires when they say they do. They completely destroyed my tire pressure monitor system among other parts. I had to have snow tires put and thank god I didn't go with them, and I was told my car is too new to have to be replacing the tire pressure monitor. I asked them what it could be from and the only word they said to me was vandalism. Or the winter months could ruin it but thats after 6 or more years of salt and sand damage. Mark over prices everything. Save yourself some money and frustration and do not go here! read more

You'd think that putting the oil cap back on the engine after changing a car's oil would be day one of mechanic school. Well, apparently the mechanic that changed my husband's car's oil yesterday missed that class. We were part way into Boston when the car began to smoke, and we discovered the problem. The cap is gone and there's oil all over the block. We had to have the car towed back to a mechanic (my husband gets to waste his Sunday morning waiting for AAA) so that the car can be clean up, checked, and the oil cap replaced. (And you can be sure that Monro will be paying for every penny of this clean up, tow, and any damage to the engine if they don't want to be sued.) If we hadn't been near my in-laws' house and able to borrow a car, this stupid, incompetent mechanic would have made me miss my sister's wedding. The guy my husband spoke to on the phone gave him attitude and did NOT apologize. Personally, I'd be mortified if I found out that one of my mechanics was that big a moron. The mechanic would be looking for another job. I guess at Monro, making a monumentally stupid mistake and nearly ruining a customer's car is an occasion to be rude and dismissive. read more

My Story starts in May when I reported brake sticking on the front of my Ford F250 to the mechanic at the Stratham NH garage. I left truck there for the day as it isn't my primary vehicle to be repaired .I got a call indicating that the front calipers where sticking and needed to be replaced along with rotors and calipers. Pads and rotors all around the truck was replaced less than 10,000 miles prior. Mechanic quoted me over the phone that it would be $900.00 to replace calipers pads and rotors. I thought was expensive but didn't have time to do myself. In July I had returned to get truck inspected only to find it wouldn't pass do to the rust under cab I was very disappointed that it wasn't brought to my attention when I was being scammed out of $900.00 for at best a 500.00 brake job. I left with un inspected truck. I had taken to the auto body mechanics to try to repair rust to get reinspected. After a few days at auto body mechanics, truck was being driven home when I noticed front brakes sticking again same problem reported in May I was driving by the Monro pulled in manager came out looked under truck and confirmed that the front driver side brake was sticking based on the amount heat and the smell that was coming from the front of the vehicle. Left truck overnight got call in morning mechanic indicated the back brakes where sticking and quoted over $1000.00 to replace brakes rotor and calipers all of which can be purchased for under $300.00 and not the re-manufactured crap there selling you. Needless to say they are be crooks I have had 2 vehicles that have been taken there for everything from oil changes to new tires and have never had problem. New management comes in and its all about screwing the customer. I will be taking the vehical to another mechanic to have rear brake re evaluated and will give up date. read more

This place is absolutelly horrible if your a younger adult or probablly a woman you will get handled by them financially. Also the people answering the phone and talking to you about your car seem to have no interest in your vehicle being fixed almost like they could care less.My Car was towed into them from my house. Had an estimated amount of work to be done that would cost over a thousand dollars. Checked other garages in the area including the one i purchased the car from and had a huge savings for the same amount of work, which the machanic its now with says it shouldn't need everything hes saying cause i had some of it just done at inspection for the vehicle. It was a $300 difference ($670 to be exact as the new estimate i was given for my car with the same parts and problems) even with paying for towing it over the free mileage. 1000-670 thats a lot of difference probablly going to "labor of theirs". I highlly advise to shop around way beyond this place even if it's the last place in the nation use a bike. read more
