The crew seemed friendly and helpful as i was going in for an oil change but I guess they weren't happy with me not dropping 1900 dollars of service they claim i needed because when I paid for my oil change and went into my car they left my glove box disassembled with the dirty cabin filter on my seat with all my belongings all over the floor. Had an appointment for 9 am to to install and balance delivered tire, they didn't get to it until 3 pm, picked it up at 4, the tech who did the install did a good job but 4pm ? the manager wasn't in to give me a receipt, I went back the next day to get it and not even an apology just excuses that they were busy and short handed, I wouldn't go back for any other service read more

When I went to pick it up, all of a sudden my brake fluid and oil were leaking but they "couldn't find the source of the leak"....my car was running fine and I just needed a new tire. DO NOT GO THERE!!!!!!!! If you want to get robbed, take advantage of, or bad service, you can go there. Otherwise, do not go there. This is what happened about 2 years go when I went there to fix my hand break (emergency break). I had a 1996 Volkswagen Golf with Manual Transmission. It wasn't in a great condition, but the breaks were not bad. I wanted to fix my hand break because a manual car need to have hand break on all time when its parked. And, nothing was really wrong with it but I just wanted to change a pad to make it work better. I took the car to Monro and thought they know what to do since their name is MONRO MUFFLER BRAKE. Guess what, they don't. They took off all my breaks, and told me they all needed to change. I mean all of them!! Front, back, and hand break. i didn't even ask them to touch any breaks but only the hand break. I asked them how much it gonna cost me to change all of them ( Not only change the pad, but the whole break system which I didn't ask for it ), they told me it will cost me more than $900!!! I told them that was not what I was looking for and I just need the hand break to be fixed, the price was too high too, and I don't need all that. i said to them that I will pass this time, and just take my car back and go home. They told me that " WE CAN'T PUT ALL THE BREAKS BACK TO YOUR CAR. YOU EITHER FIX THEM ALL OR YOU HAVE TO GET YOUR CAR TOWED." .......WTF!! I am sorry I used that word, but I am still very pissed after all those years to remember the guy gave me a nasty look and the unreasonable answer. I end up with no choice but fix "whatever they said need to be fixed". After I picked up my car, i didn't notice any difference with my breaks. And when I parked my car, my hand break DIDN'T EVEN WORK!!! i bought it in with a working hand break and wished to make it work better, and be told I had to change all my breaks, and spend $900 on it, came home with a hand break that DOESN'T WORK ANYMORE???!!!! i called them and told them what happened, and bought my car back to them the next day. They didn't fix nothing out of it. The breaks were worse than before. This was the worse thing that I have ever experience it. i feel that I need to write this review because i see them right there, opening everyday, not running out business and ruining other people's cars!! This place need to be shut down by Consumer department. It is a total scam!!! i truly believe they took huge advantage on me because I am a woman, I am an Asian woman and i am an young Asian woman. To update my review: although this place says that they are committed to good service, a past employee has advised that they rip people off all the time, they tell people things are wrong with their vehicles and then break parts of their car so they can charge people. I haven't gone back and will not go back to any of the locations. Worst place, ever! My fiancé and I took our cars there for a quick oil change, the employee ended up telling my fiancé that he needed a part replaced or his brakes were going to break down and cause him to crash. He was going to charge $500+ dollars. My fiancé looked up the part and it was less than $10 and when he told the employee that, he looked embarrassed like he was caught. Then we left and while my fiancé was cleaning out the back seat, he found the "broken part" they said they needed to change in his back seat. So they ripped off the part and told him he needed to come back. Worst case of ethics I've seen. Disgusting people and disgusting practice. They should be ashamed of themselves. read more

My boyfriend and I got stuck in West Haven while traveling through the state because the car overheated and it was obvious we weren't going to make it home that night (we had several more states to drive through). Even though it was late afternoon on the Sunday before the Columbus Day holiday, we called the Munro Muffler Brake & Service in West Haven (we had seen a branch open in another town the first time we overheated) and Gino told us that he would take a quick look. Gino's prognosis was that he could take care of it the next day if they could locate the available parts for our Isuzu (which, by the way, has gone out of business!). He recommended a nearby Econolodge and told us he could start work on it first thing in the morning. Although the thought of car repair makes me anxious, Gino was confident, helpful, and straightforward. I didn't feel like he was trying to scam us or made it seem like we didn't have any choices. The next morning we showed up bright and early, and Ralph, the manager, was already on phone, trying to hunt down our necessary parts. He was also very friendly, not just to us, but to everyone else who came in. Ralph kept us in constant communication with us about what was going on, and consequently, had to be on the phone about our car for much of the day, searching for other parts. We ended up having to spend the full day there and we passed the time by walking down Orange Avenue and visiting the nearby stores (Target, Best Buy, Sam's Club was across the street) and restaurants. By late afternoon, Ralph took pity on us and offered us his car so we could drive down to the mall about 5 miles away and told us he would call when they were done. I really appreciated that because we were going nuts waiting for the car to be finished. All told, Gino and Ralph got us on our way after struggling with a laborious repair process (it turned out to be a bigger & more hidden problem than we originally thought), provided excellent customer service (the kind you can't expect anymore), and didn't charge us for the extra time it took for Gino to retrace some of his steps to make sure he got the job done right. Even though it really sucked to be stuck in an unfamiliar city with car trouble, we were so relieved that we found Ralph and Gino! Ralph even called us the next day to make sure we made it home okay. I took my vehicle for a simple oil change and got something that I didn't ask for, a well dented hood! Apparently the employee thought my hood latch release was broken and tried to open my hood with fists and/or hammers. The hood is even sunken in all over. When I arrived to pick up vehicle it was still in the garage at 4pm, and they started working on it at noon, so I thought that very odd, hiding something maybe. avoid avoid!!!!! this place is a total scam and if i was not knowledgable about automotive mechanics i would have been robbed!! i needed a full exhaust system on my jeep wrangler and i wanted a quote over the phone. they blew me off for two days and finally i had to bring it down there. unfortunately me for me the exhaust was so loud that they were the closest shop available so i had to place my trust in them after they inspected it. i called around and priced the parts, they totaled around $250 all together front to back at autozone. i wanted to make sure i had an idea of what the actual parts cost me. i had to repeatedly call them from work as they had no idea in regards to pricing and they were not calling me after having my truck for almost a day, i was amazed at this because they have a book that gives the exact job hours part pricing etc. finally the manager asked me if i was sitting down, he then quoted me a price of $1000!!! i used some profanity and told them to take my jeep back out of the shop. remember when i said the parts only cost about $250??? theres literally nothing to an exhaust job like mine and the only reason i brought it there in the first place was because it was starting to get cold outside. the manager then coaxed me into "tipping" the guy that looked at it, by making it appear as if he spent tons of man hours inspecting the jeep. that is just disgusting business practice. needless to say, i replaced the entire exhaust myself in my cold backyard as well as tuned up the entire engine for $300 in parts at autozone.this took me two hours in total. this review was long but i left it here to help (you) because i know that not everyone is knowledgable on how to fix their car and nobody deserves this in the economy we have!! read more

BEWARE! Very disappointing! Went there over the weekend for a simple oil change and after 1 hour of waiting (even though I had an appt) I was told I needed new rotors, brakes, tires, belts on the verge of breaking and various other items all listed on my receipt! They told me I was taking a big risk in even driving the car! Brought to my own mechanic and he told me I didn't need any of the things! They have lost my business!
