Absolutely the best biscuits and gravy ever. Fluffy light biscuits covered in an ample amount of yummy sausage gravy. OMG Good!! Have also adored the BLT, great portion of good bacon. (Nueske's perhaps??) They have this appetizer/salad with breaded goat cheese that was really good, and I am not a big goat cheese fan. Enjoyed their pizzas and calzones too. Monroe's Crossing "The Old Casino".The history of the Hudson Lake Casino (the historic Blue Lantern) goes back to its construction in 1914 by William and Avella Smith. The Smith's had previously built a hotel which was located across the street from the casino in 1885, The summer of 1926 was a memorable one as the Casino was leased by the Smith's to Jean Goldkette of the Jean Goldkette Orchestra who renamed it the Blue Lantern and brought some of the most famous jazz musicians of the time to Hudson Lake. Frequently special events such as these, bands of all kinds are showcased and enjoyed to this day hosted now by the new owners Rich and Leslie Monroe.Always new craft beers and delicious specials.The owners as well as the staff are always accommodating to the customer!As well as always have something entertaining for your time at Monroe's Crossing .They offer catering, reservations(nothing is to small) for any kind of special events. Very unique venue with a lot of history. Owners are great hosts and very friendly. Staff is friendly and on the ball. They have an excellent menu including some tasty fish dinners. Multiple micros on tap. Beer is cold and served right. Mixed drinks and wine. The views of Hudson Lake are outstanding. They also host events such as concerts and local bands. Monroe's Crossing (some know it as "the old Casino") has been through many reincarnations over the years. It's current reincarnation is both interesting and delightful. Where else can you dine (and drink) overlooking a beautiful lake (Hudson Lake) in a historical building used in the 1930's as a Chicago jazz out-of-town venue? Bid Beiderbecke played the Casino and summered in a nearby house. The stage on which he played is still there in the rear of the Casino's event room (available for everything from wedding receptions to Boy Scout dinners). But, you can dine at the back of the Casino in comfortable booths or small tables (or just sit at the bar). Looking in one direction you'll see the sunset on Hudson Lake; looking in the other direction you will see the wood floored and paneled event room with the Beiderbecke stage. The food features pasta sauces made on the premises (I asked) and pleasant service. Give it a try on the weekend; it's an inexpensive northern Indiana gem! read more

Words can't express how truly great this place is! To start off the owner is absolutely great! The venue itself is hands down the best you can find in the area. I hosted a surprise engagement party for my best friend. Leslie made it so easy and worked with my budget! She was there every step of the way from planning, catering, setting up etc. We did pizza and salads and let me just say everything was spot on perfect and and crazy delicious. The staff was wonderful, helpful and always on top of everything. You can tell the owner and her staff put their hearts and souls into the place making it an unforgettable experience! Me and my friends came out here after visiting a show in Michigan City. I had no idea about this place, so I was skeptical at first. Their menu isn't big, so it may be hard to find something you like. I broke my own boundaries and got the Chicken Bacon Ranch wrap with loved mashed taters (bacon and cheese) and apple sauce. While waiting for your food, I went about and explored the building, which is pretty large. Not long after I sat back down, me and my pals received our meals. The apple sauce is home made. Not from a can, but actually made in house! That was the nice surprise! The wrap was also very pleasing, as were the mashed potatoes. The bartender is also very pleasant also. With a South Shore depot only a block away, it makes for a good place to stop at if you're a Railfan like mine is. A nice hole in the wall restaurant that I'll definitely be coming back to. read more

Went there last night, April 20, for my brothers 50th birthday. We reserved the back room overlooking the lake. Great service, good food. Two servers took care of us and they did a fantastic job. I highly recommend this place if you have something special to celebrate. read more

First off, the people that work there are super pleasant and willing to please! The food: excellent bacon with blue cheese burger (on a pretzel bun), delicious prime Rib on Fridays, superb frog legs (yum!), pizza from a brick oven is really good (if a certain person makes it super thin, NY style, as I enjoy). Did I mention the drinks? They make a really nice rum punch (and it gives a nice punch because they don't skimp on alcohol!). It's extra special eating on the outside deck (in the summer) overlooking the lake. I truly hope that they can make it through the tough months of winter, because they are the only place in the area that have good food and good service! read more

We have gone to many events here. My brother got married here. A close friend had his wake here. Another friend got married here. I voted here a couple times as well! This is a beautiful location, sunsets over looking Hudson Lake. The staff is great. I eat meals here about every other week. They have a bar too, but I don't drink. The event room is very classy and very versatile, great for any number of events. In fact, I am going to rent it soon for my son's Eagle Ceremony. The food is really good too. I have been to events where they catered, not only at Monroe's Crossing, but also out in the community and I assure you, It is phenomenal! read more

They are open!! Incredible view of Hudson Lake on the water. Restaurant is in one part of the building, bar is in the other part, and there is a huge ballroom with wooden floors that dates back to the early 1900's. Family run and owned restaurant/bar. The owners of this place need to step back and figure out what a beautiful location they have and the opportunities they have available. The food is just mediocre and the service is no good.
