With summer approaching, had to get out and enjoy downtown Petaluma. Adobe Road Wines has a cozy tasting room that was very inviting. The cheese platter was setup when we arrived and our pourer was able to identify each cheese, with notes on what wine paired with them. He was very knowledgeable and we could tell he had a passion for the wine industry even being young. The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon "Blue Dog" was a delicious blend from both Napa and Sonoma County grapes. The unique designs for the Racing Series bottles really helped elevate the nod owner, Kevin Buckner had to his career in racing. We got a sneak peak of the new tasting room that is under construction via a rending they had on video. We are excited to check it out along with the added experiences that will surely draw in people who are looking for something special to do. read more

The lady serving me was incredibly knowledgeable regarding how this wine maker got started and knew his career of racing cars! This place had really good reviews in Yelp! So decided to try out since they had availabilities same day. They have an outdoor patio that most guests were dining on. We chose the "Race Series" tasting with all reds bc thats what i like. They give ample sampling.. i appreciated the uniqueness of the wines tho they didnt perfectly match what i usually like drinking until the last one! I like wines that are smooth with not too much tannins and this one was buttery. It is a mix of 4 diff wines "perfectly blended like carbon" which it was! Nice outdoor patio for wine tasting. Warm weather on a summery Sunday to drop by for wine tasting and to peruse through this neighborhood of Petaluma. Opted for reserve and insider wine club tasting. Noted on what I liked : 2019 Pinot noir, Cabernet Franc (my most favorite) Bavarian & 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Sage Canyon was very velvety. Did the Yelp check in on 2 for 1 tasting. What an amazing find out in Petaluma. I have never heard about Adobe Road Wines. We were in the area and wanted to do a wine tasting before heading back home. We called ahead to see if they had an opening and yes, they sure did! We sat outside and were immediately greeted. There are 3 different tasting menus. We went with the reserve for $35. Check in on Yelp and get a BOGO coupon. 2018 Chardonnay, Bacigalupi Vineyards 2018 Pinot Noir, Roberts Road 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon, Bavarian Lion Vineyards 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon, Blue Dog Although these were all Sonoma County wines, every wine we tasted had the big, bold, Napa Valley feel. We were delightfully surprised as everything was up our alley. We also tried The 24. This was one of their special wines with a bottle dedicated to a 24 hour racing event. Btw, the owner is a former race car driver! It was a blend of goodness and we ended up purchasing a bottle. We also tried the viognier. It was extremely unique...big and bold once again and also had to take a bottle of this home also. What a cute spot. I learned about this winery because of the Priority Wine Pass, you get 2-for-1 tastings here with the pass! They had a few options to choose from for tastings, we did the Classic Tasting which is $30/person. I had no idea that the owner used to be a professional race car driver! I love how he incorporated that passion into his winery. They have some wine bottles that have a 3D speedometer on the front, a gear shift, and even a tasting called the Racing Series. We sat outside on a patio next to the parking lot; we were only given the option to sit there or inside the tasting room. I was bummed because I saw some other Yelp photos of people having their wine outside by the river which would have been a nice experience. Our sommelier was knowledgeable about the wines but not the most personable host. She brought out some breadsticks to have with our wine which was nice. We enjoyed our wines and had a good experience, but not enough to lead us to purchase any bottles. Sadly we went here the other day and did not have a great experience. When my friends come into town we always pick a local spot to go to and enjoy. We picked Adobe because we were downtown shopping and thought it would be fun. When we walked in we asked if they had room for a tasting. There were two people in the place. We were told they were closing in a hour so our tasting would be rushed. We said that was fine. We sat down picked out tasting and that was when it got weird. The woman who was helping us clearly didn't want to. She rolled her eyes so many times that we lost count. When we didn't like a wine we were brushed off. Then it was clear that she didn't think we knew enough about wine in general so she was dismissive. We paid our hefty tasting fee and she asked if we wanted anything to go. Offering us a red blend for pasta night at $48. We declined. Not the best experience. Wines were ok but not memorable and the service was borderline offensive. read more

What a wonderful hidden gem located in the heart of downtown Petaluma, Adobe Road Wines is about to have a huge breakout thanks to their soon to break ground wine tasting room and production facility relocating to the riverfront area of downtown. Owned and created by professional race car driver and team owner, Kevin Buckler, featuring artisan wines from vineyards drawn from both Sonoma and Napa counties. What makes Adobe Wine stand out is that their bottles is that there is an apex in their bottles that resembles the curvature of a racing car, and the fact that their bottle labels are etched into the bottle, thus the use of paper labels obsolete. As of now, Adobe Road resides in a small indoor shopping center and we were mainly intrigued to sample the wines at Adobe thanks for the two for one tasting featured upon Yelp check-in. Although crowded on a Sunday afternoon, Lisa our tasting room associate happily accommodated us at their tasting room counter. When you do check-in, in order to get the deal, each person in your party has to buy the same tasting, whether it's the $20 Classic Tasting, $30 Reserve Tasting or the $45 Premium Tasting, once you order, everything has to match up. So we went with the middle tasting, the Reserve Tasting in which for $30 you could select three wines from their Reserve Wines list and 2 wines to taste from their Classic Wines list. We began with their 2016 Viognier from the Famighetti Vineyard in the Dry Creek Valley, which had a floral scent on the nose and was light and crisp to the taste. Our second pour was the 2014 Semillon, with grapes from the Bavarian Lion Vineyard in Knights Valley, they leave the grapes skins on a little extra linger to give the wine a rich amber color and flavor. We also decided to try one of their limited release racing series of wines called the 2016 Redline, which is Cabernet dominant with additional parts of Petit Syrah and Zinfandel. The wine was big and bold and Lisa suggested pairs well with a heavier meat. It was really extraordinary to be able to sample the wines from their special reserve in a traditional tasting. As for our other tastes, since our group went in on a two for one tasting we got the chance to sample what felt like an abundance of wines, thanks to the graciousness of Lisa. Of note, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon from Rutherford in the Napa Valley uniquely didn't have any tannins in the flavor of the wine, the 2016 Syrah although rather tart, came from Fedrick Ranch Vineyard and showcased the burgeoning wines being grown locally in the Petaluma Gap which just became a certified wine growing region. Lisa was nice enough to pour us a sample from their bottle of 2015 Syrah so we could compare and contrast the different years and how they tasted. Lisa was so awesome that she also gave us an extra pour from the special reserve Apex wine which was 50 percent Blue Dog Cabernet, they showed off winemaker Kevin Buckler's intense personality that he puts in his wines. read more

Cute little place to stop in for some wine tasting in downtown Petaluma. My fiancee and I tried a few different wines: the Chardonnay, sparkling Rose, and the Merlot. The Chardonnay wine was my favorite. I also enjoyed the sparkling Rose. It had a different, unique taste that I liked. All the wines were very smooth and very easy to drink. The host who poured our wines was very nice and very knowledgeable about the wines. The tasting room is small but cozy and inviting. They have lots of merchandise for sale in addition to their wine. It's defiantly worth a stop while visiting Sonoma County. We will have to stop by again sometime! read more

A friend was in town for two days and rather than trying to find a driver to take us to the wineries, I recommended we visit Adobe Road. All I can say is, wow. I've been a few times previously. The woman who provides the great wine tasting and conversation, makes any day brighter. Her service is welcoming and informative. The tasting room has indoor and outdoor options. We loved being outside. The weather is particularly nice this week. And, we get to watch people which, we also loved. There are a few tastings to choose from ranging from 50.00 per person to 30.00 per person. I joined the 4 bottle a quarter wine club and our 30.00 tasting was gratis. I am still talking about their Pinot Noir. It coats the tongue and has a delightful berry flavor. It's so smooth you could drink the whole bottle. I also really enjoyed the rose. It's not what you expect in a rose. It is dryer than what I usually drink and less sweet, too. It has a deep pink /red color. I love it. And, I'll be back soon for more! read more

I've been meaning to stop by Adobe Road Winery since they added music & have ample outdoor seating. It's a nice setting with a covered patio, lighting & heat lamps if needed. Talented Dan Durkin was playing, and he played such a cool variety of classic rock hits, he's well versed, with a plethora of harmonicas a couple guitars and a great voice. But getting back to the vino part. We found a table, waiter dropped off a wine list, let us know what was available, FYI, when there is live music they don't do tastings, he explained the reasoning is when the music is playing, they can't get into the various explanations of each wine. I think its wise because the price point of their wines, & plenty are award winning, wouldn't do them justice talking & describing while the music was playing. We decided to order by the glass, I'm usually into red wines, but because it was a balmy nite Sauvignon Blanc was my choice. The wine was cool, crisp, and fruity. They have specific wines by the glass and by the bottle, they even had a special on bottles of wine, buy 2 get 1 free, it's a great deal. I wish they offered it in red wines since it's holiday season, cooler weather and gift giving time. They don't serve food but there are plenty of restaurants just steps away. I noticed a few people bringing food over from the neighboring restaurants while enjoying the music, wine and great customer service. Come for the award winning wines, but if they have music too it's even more reason to stop by. read more

We were excited to check out Adobe Road as part of Petaluma Drinks, having discovered several winery treasures that day, however were really disappointed by this place. In addition to being assaulted by the distinct smell of cat pee when we walked in, the staff seemed only familiar with the script they'd been taught and not wine for wine's sake, unable to speak to anything more than the tasting notes, but nothing more. The owner has ties to the auto racing community (my fiance races, too), and we though maybe we'd find more connection there, but alas, our server who'd previously been aggressively pushing the racing narrative quicky disclaimed that he didn't really understand the sport (after misstating several facts about the owner's achievements) and was "more of a golf guy" (they also had golf on the TV, despite it being a huge racing weekend with tons of coverage). Lucky for us, Petaluma has SO many great wineries and tasting rooms, so we chalked Adobe Road up to just being lame and took our business elsewhere. read more

The 2015 Cabernet from Beckstoffer Vineyard is outstanding. The vines heritage back to 1924 and it is absolutely their best wine. But Adobe offers a wide variety of outstanding vintages and varietals that were thoroughly enjoyable. We ordered the highest-end wine tasting they offered and we were NOT disappointed. On a rainy Saturday, the family, gf, and I decided to stop by for some wine tasting before Sonoma State graduation commencement. So glad that we could stop by and be seated here. We got a couple classic tastings - Eric, our server, made it super easy by picking what I like - reds. I was able to try the Pinot, Grenache, Syrah, and Redline wines. All were so smooth, I could not believe it. Even the Syrah, which I thought would be more acidic was easy to go down. We were able to sit down, have some wine and breadsticks, get to know more about the wine, see their racer's collection of wines, and enjoy ourselves. Shoutout to Yelp and the winery for providing the 2-for-1 tasting coupon. As a San Franciscan, wine country visits and tasting are common. I popped into Adobe while trying to evade the deluge this past Sunday night in the Sonoma main square, while family was shopping next door. I sat my wet a@@ at the counter, and was greeted by a nice young man. Ordered the tasting, and tried 5 wines, two whites I forget the first one but the second one was a Viognier, and three reds: Grenache, Cabernet Franc and a Zin. The guy behind the counter was very friendly, informative, and professional. He explained for every pour the wine varietal, where it comes from, and how it is made. When I told him I enjoy Viognier among whites, he poured me the 2013 on the list (I must admit the experiment Adobe did on this wine was not met by my approval), and then pulled out a bottle of the 2014 vintage for me to compare (much better by the way and in fact he said Adobe went back to a more classic Viognier formula). The 2014 are not released until May '16, and it was not on the list so I appreciated the treat. Grenache and Zin were OK, but the Cabernet Franc was really good, and I bought a bottle - if you purchase you don't pay the tasting fee. The owner happened to stop by (Kevin), and made it a point to say hello to me and all others in the room. Nice touch. read more
