This is the closest location in the DMV. It's small but they really get you in and out. Downside is that it gets so crowded on the weekends and every time we come we almost always have a wait to be seated. Good thing is that it isn't a typically long wait. read more

I had a decent experience at this Waffle House. My experience was more or less on par with other Waffle Houses (primarily in Hampton Roads, VA), which has been good, that I have visited over the years. Our waitress, Tammy, was pretty good with taking our orders and following up with us. Our food came out pretty fast, and it was everything that we expected. I wonder if this is a super popular Waffle House location in the Dumfries area. When we arrived around 11 am on a weekday, we were a bit surprised that pretty much all of the seats were occupied. Fortunately, for us, we managed to grab the last booth so we did not have to wait for seat. This is always a staple whenever we travel down the southern coast. This is basically fast food comfort food. There is limited seating but we were able to get a few seats at the counter which is totally fine with me. Service was excellent and our orders came out with minutes. It was borderline amazing. And the food wasn't just sitting around pre-made; I watched them prepare everything. Everything is fresh, waffles are very good and the price point can't be beat. I'm thinking it's because the chain is trying to avoid all the craziness that occurs during certain hours! We ordered: +the Two Egg Breakfast - eggs with toast, jelly, and a side of hashbrowns or grits; the hubs opted for scrambled eggs with hashbrowns +built-your-own hashbrowns - I had it 'smothered' (sauteed with onions) and 'double covered'(with melted cheese), adding in jalapenos; the cheese was a bit coagulated, and both the onions and the diced jalapenos were just super minimal; edges of the hashbrowns were crispy, but could have been more crispy overall, as I did request this to be extra crispy There is a separate order and a pick-up window; orders took about 15 minutes, and the staff is pretty good in recognizing you/your vehicle if you're waiting for your order. This is the closest Waffle House location to Washington DC. This has always been my go-to location for the convenience. However, the quality of the food, the cleanliness, and the customer service can be hit or miss depending on who's working that shift. Wait times can be elevated, tables can be sticky, and servers can be unintentive and rude. However, my most recent visit was for a to-go order, which took a bit, but it wasn't too bad. The food was typical. I always expect more from this location, as I'm sure they're making money from all of the people who are traveling on the interstate, as well as those who are from the Washington DC area looking for that Waffle House, the traditional Waffle House experience. read more

It's the closest Waffle House to where I live - the next closet Waffle Houses to Haymarket are Fredericksburg, VA and Charles Town, WV... I stopped in for a late breakfast. As others have noted - this is not the cleanest place. I sat at the counter area - on the left hand side - which is lower than the rest of the counter seats. I ordered coffee, plus a Sausage, egg, and cheese bowl over hash browns, and a side of bacon. The food took about 15 minutes to come up - the bowl came up first. BUT - the bowl they delivered to me was not what I ordered. The bowl I was given had bacon in it - not the sausage I ordered. But I was so hungry - that I did not want to wait another 15 minutes for them to correctly remake my order. The hash browns on top were crispy - but the potatoes farther down were a little on the gummy side - they needed to be crispier. I asked for hot sauce and ketchup - the only hot sauce they have is Tabasco sauce - so I added some of that, salt and pepper, and ketchup to the bowl. Overall, a tasty bowl, even made incorrectly. They had music playing through the overhead speakers - that was turned up so loud - I had to speak very loudly to my server. I then asked if they could reduce the volume. I was told apologetically - that they could not turn it down - as no one could find the remote. I almost left - it was really loud. Eventually someone managed to turn the music off about halfway through my meal. I was done eating the bowl by the time the side of bacon arrived. Service was average. We sat and watched one of the cooks sweep food off the counter with his hands, with the same gloves "he never once changed in our time there" he resumed to cooking & touching all over the food, touched someone's to-go orders with those same gloves. Food quality: The grits had chunks the size of golf balls. When returning it's like they had attitudes. Meat was undercooked had to send that back. How do you serve undercooked porkchops? Pork bacon, chicken sausage all good on grills at same time. They had one young cook "guy with braces" who could definitely use a raise. He was tentative to everything. They thought I didn't see it, I'm very observant, he, the cook, he grabbed egg off of a personal plate and put it on the one missing the eggs! Also, the cook touches too many dirty things, with the same gloves he's picking up food with, without changing them.. very unsanitary.. I believe I just waisted 20 bucks. We're from FL where there are Waffle Houses everywhere, here in VA, not so much. We drove 30 min for this location and were NOT disappointed! Terrible experience!!! We have frequented this location for years, experiencing good service and food. That was not the case this morning! We were completely ignored and eventually left! There seems to have been a whole sale turnover of staff which probably means new management and previous staff left. We believe that we were likely snubbed because we are caucasian. Love this place. Spent my "unique" twenties, going here after the bars shut down. Nothing solves a potential hangover like Waffle House. Was so happy when Anthony Bourdain, spoke so pleasantly about this chain. The employees here continue excellence. This past visit server was phenomenal. Love how the staff sing beautifully, while they cook waffles, hash browns, bacon, and other dishes. Truly a friendly group of ladies, whom made me feel right at home. My only complaint is minor. There aren't a lot of parking spots. Other than that, it's what I remembered it. Good food made in front of you, for a very reasonable cost. This is a true diner environment. My son Troy loves chocolate chip Everything. Especially chocolate chip pancakes at IHOP or any where they're served for that matter. In all this time he's never had chocolate chip waffles. So we stopped in at this waffle house. All waffle houses are pretty much the same for me, however, the team at this waffle house specifically Ms.Lexie our waitress, Uncle Boo grill master and Mr. Tristan, the Manager made this visit great. Ms. Lexie was attentive but still showed great multitasking skills and professionalism, Uncle Boo was a whirl on the grill and Mr. Tristan was a team player ensuring that everything ran smoothly and this teamwork was readily apparent. Just as sticky and greasy as ever and as crazy as it sounds... I would'nt have it any other way. On our trips down south we make it a tradition to have breakfast on the road at a Waffle House and this one was the first for my wife many years ago so along with a true southern breakfast a bit of nostalgia. Bustling with locals and road warriors we sat at the bar and had the grits with extra whipped butter and a dash of hot sauce, Pancakes,white toast,hash browns,over easy eggs,sausage patties,bacon, coffee and a large orange juice.....so basically a light breakfast in the south.
