Everything was delicious, the servers were friendly and attentive. Food came out quickly and the drinks were good. No complaints only compliments from everyone at the table

The restaurant was nicely decorated for the holidays. The restaurant is clean and has bright lighting. The utensils were clean in paper sleeves and the staff was attentive. The chips and salsa were good, you can ask for spicier salsa. The deep fried la changa with shredded chicken was very good. Had a nice combination with queso and rice/toppings.

Fun, friendly, family atmosphere! We had a wonderful server at our last visit, so friendly and helpful, kept our drinks full and was always around to help. The food is so flavorful and delicious, right from the start with chips and house salsa. We got the steak fajitas to share and an order of tacos! Everything was well seasoned, the tacos were some of the best I've ever had! Prices are comparable to other Mexican restaurants in the area! Definitely will be back!

Sopa de Pollo. AMAZING. Giant bowl of deliciousness

I am updating my previous review from EIGHT YEARS AGO. I can't believe it's been that long. Anyways, I am up in NY from TX visiting a friend and we came here for her birthday lunch. It was around 11:40 on a Friday and there were only a handful of other tables that were occupied, thus, we got seated right away. Hot chips and salsa were brought over while we looked over the digital menu. P.S. Mask policy during late Covid pandemic was "do whatever you feel comfortable with" and that was a bonus in our book. My friend ordered the Speedy Gonzales lunch special, my son got the taco combo lunch special (despite only eating one single taco of it... so basically I could have ordered him a single taco for $2.99 and saved the $) and I got the Sopa de pollo lunch special. We all greatly enjoyed our meals. I personally LOVEDDD the soup. It was such a huge bowl of deliciousness. Light broth, shredded chicken, rice, pico de Gallo and sliced avocado. It was so big, I couldn't even finish it and now that I am writing this, I wish I could have some more! My stomach is literally growling. Our server was friendly and prompt. She didn't even need to write down our order... always impressed when people can do that. I have the memory of a goldfish. I'm basically Dory from finding Nemo. Anyways, despite numerous Mexican restaurants in our town down in Texas, there is just something about Monte's that gives me those warm and fuzzies. Man I love Mexican food!

Unfortunately, this Monte Alban location has missed the mark for me a couple of times now. From waits (a lot) longer than promised to miserable servers and bartenders to the most depressing takeout tacos I have ever experienced...two stars it is. The good: the interior is vibrant. If you're looking for a fun excursion for the evening, sitting at the bar at like 4:15 right when it opens might be a good option for you to enjoy a large, syrupy margarita in a festive environment. I wouldn't come much later than that since the bar is only 6-8 seats and the space becomes utterly packed. Festive at 4:15, a memoir by Megan. ANYWAYS... The food has missed the mark every single time for me (store bought corn tortillas, no diversity in flavor), but most especially in my takeout last night. Did you know if you order $13 tacos for takeout, not only can you not mix and match your protein, but the tacos are literally just 6 corn tortillas topped with chicken? Literally nothing else. A bare ass depressing taco experience that I just stared at for a few minutes before covering with the complimentary salsa and hoping for the best. Even if you were trying to make the chicken the star of the plate (not the point of a taco), it has to be flavorful, yummy chicken...which is not the case at Monte Alban. After three or four visits to this location, I think it is safe to say I have given the benefit of the doubt, and am happy to never return.

Oh Monte Alban, my first Mexican restaurant experience growing up so it's super nostalgic. I couldn't wait to go here with my fiancé who has never been! Chips and salsa were amazing as always, we split the poncho special which is chicken with shrimp, all the goodness and it's amazing to make a little taco with the tortillas they give you on the side. Only downside was that our frozen margaritas were not really all that frozen but as you can tell, that didn't turn us off!

I have been to Monte Albon a couple times before, and I've never really liked it. It had been awhile, but my most recent visit did not change my mind. They start you out with free chips and salsa. The chips were tasteless and seemed stale, and the salsa was really watery. I got a peach margarita for $7.99. It was peach and tasted ok, but it didn't taste like there was any alcohol in it. And with the ice, there was maybe like 10 sips in it. It was definitely a waste of $8. I am vegetarian, and most of their vegetarian option have beans. I hate beans, so it's hard for me to modify some of the things. So I decided to try the Loredo fries. They were ok at best. The fries were all stuck to each other, and the avocado sauce was weird. When you have a plate of fries that are covered in cheese and sour cream, and they're just ok, you know there's a problem. I also got a cheese quesadilla. This was the best part of my meal, although grossly overpriced at $3.99. I didn't take a picture of it, but it even looked sad on the plate. And it didn't even come with anything to dip it in. If it's up to me, I won't be back. If a friend wants to come again, I'll try to make the best of it. I honestly could have had a better meal at Chipotle for $7, rather than the $25 I spent here.

    Wonderful Tex Mex on Empire.

He asked the owner his question, and the owner replied, "Can't you read?". My husband said, "Excuse me!". The owner tried to change his tune, but it was too late, and we just walked out. There are so many places to go to for a great fish dinner (The Winfield Grill, Chick'n Out, Bill Gray's, Palmers,...), where you'll not only get great food, but far superior services and get treated with respect. In addition to this owner's terrible attitude, this place has a "Very Fishy Odor", and that's never a good sign when purchasing fish from a "Fish Market". We will never go back to Captain Jim's, and strongly suggest that others do the same.

Rather than chunks of soft white and red meat and visible claw meat, it was cut up big squarish chunks of white, brown, and rubbery meat. I'm sure it was lobster, but the preparation/composition was very different from other places. The lobster was overcooked and rubbery. There was not enough butter. It was in a plain hotdog bun rather than a toasted brioche bun. I had to add more butter. I think you should try a warm buttered lobster roll from Nolan's on Canandaigua ($25), the restaurant or the snack shack, to know what it should look and taste like. For this price the quality has to improve... I won't be back unless I see pictures that it's better. I was really really really looking forward to having a go-to lobster roll spot.

We came here to celebrate my husband's 40th birthday, and I ordered the seafood-stuffed prime rib. It was, without question, one of the worst restaurant meals I've ever been served. The prime rib was mostly fat, it was cold, the seafood stuffing had virtually no flavor, and the entire dish was inedible. I took a few bites, but simply couldn't eat it, so I politely sent it back. Our waitress, Haylee, was wonderful. She was kind, professional, and genuinely apologetic. None of this reflects on her service. She handled an awkward situation with grace, and I hope management recognizes what a great employee they have. Unfortunately, everything went downhill after that. The manager, Jackie, came to the table and seemed more confused that I didn't like the meal than concerned that it had been served in that condition. Since I wasn't looking for a free dinner, I told them I was perfectly willing to pay for the salad bar, which we had been told at the beginning of the meal was $17.99 if you didn't order an entrée. When the bill arrived, I had been charged $22.99. When I asked Haylee why, she explained that the manager had charged me for the salad bar and then added extra to help cover the cost of the entrée I had sent back. That is completely unacceptable. I asked to speak with the manager, but she never returned. Instead, Haylee came back and said there had been a "miscommunication" and that the salad bar had actually gone up to $22.99. Given what we had been told earlier, that explanation was simply not believable. I had no problem paying for the salad bar. I did have a problem being charged extra for a meal that was inedible and then feeling like I was being given an excuse instead of an honest explanation. A restaurant can recover from a bad meal with good customer service. What it can't recover from is making a customer feel like they're being misled. Haylee earned five stars. Unfortunately, the food and the way management handled the situation turned what should have been a special birthday dinner into a very disappointing experience

Good parking and really nice waitstaff. The wine was a generous pour, which is always nice... but then we ate. Our first course was a "shrimp cocktail", which was six giant shrimp that had long outgrown their flavor, and a cocktail sauce that was extremely heavy on the horseradish. Second course: I had the Italian Wedding Soup. Husband had a side salad which he said was just fine. The soup was a large bowl of soup, and by the time we got halfway through, our entrees arrived, so we set the entrees aside to finish our sides. The soup was fairly tasteless; in fact it was very similar to the Progresso canned soup of the same name. I couldn't eat it all. A cup of soup would have worked much better. And then we turned to our entrees. Mine was Chicken Parmigiana and husband had spaghetti with marinara with a chicken cutlet. The amount of spaghetti in the big white bowl was - and I am not exaggerating - about the size of a soccer ball, with the chicken riding on top. The marinara on my husband's pasta tasted like tomato sauce without much of anything else. The Vodka sauce on mine was better. Cardinal sin of Italian dining: there was water in my husband's pasta that mingled with the sauce until it was like tomato soup. But why am I complaining about too much food, even when it wasn't that tasty? Because it didn't feel like dining, it felt like feeding time at the zoo. I suggest they concentrate their portions a bit and add flavor. I hope their $58 steaks are better. We brought home our leftovers, but we're going to add some veggies & spices to them. I really wanted to like this place, and I'm sad that I didn't.
