Rice might have needed a litter more salt, per my wife. The refried beans were just right. The service is awesome... everyone is nice and helpful and always around checking on you. The ambiance is what you'd expect... FESTIVE. Decorated booths and tables. The bar is also tiled with high chairs. There are several option for beer on tap like Modelo, Yuenling, Dos Equis to name a few. This place was ok. The staff were really nice, the chip , salsa, & Queso was really good. I order the palabano chill but it felt more like an American stuff pepper. The pepper tasted like a green pepper. The ground beef had no flavor it's was like they relied on the cheese for flavors. The rest of the family seem to like their meal. Nothing to rave about. We did have to hunt down our server & ask for refill on our drinks. My son girlfriend ordered nacho and they basically took taco shells & made broke them up. They only broke them in half. Like others have commented, it's busy. Really busy and loud. Although it was busy, I was seated promptly with a menu and had a water quickly. The interior was very colorful. That was in contrast to the exterior that was pretty drab. The waiter was really nice, brought chips and salsa and the menu had tons of choices. The chips were somehow overcooked. The taste was not good but the salsa was great. I got the "Antonio's" with chicken. While waiting, a large party arrive and was seated in the center of the dining area. It's a small place so it immediately became even louder. Not much that can help the noise but I thought things would be better simply because of the crowd. My order came out and was beef. My waiter never came back till I was done and needed the check, and that also said beef so I was stuck. Oh well. The food was not horrible, but like one other reviewer said, the cheese makes up for the rest. Total was over $17 with a water. We have eaten here for years when we come to our mountain house. It was always tradition to eat at Monte Alban the first night we arrive. This will be our last year. I went to this restaurant on a Saturday afternoon with 2 other people. We were immediately seated and asked what we would like to drink right away. They seemed really attuned to when we were ready to place our order. Within minutes, our meals were ready for us. I've been to many restaurants, but this was the fastest I've ever been served. Everything we had here on our trip to this small town was delicious, and we loved it so much we visited twice. The Chori Paso, Mole, and Flan were all authentic and delightful. The beer portion sizes made me laugh. There's no in between with small and large, so please keep that in mind if you order the large beer. It's truly an XXL. Great service and great food. We usually go to the Blairsville location, but decided to try this one and it was just as good. Cheese dip and salsa were delicious as always. We typically get the special combo #28 at the Blairsville location, but this location didn't have that as an option. So tried the Taco Monte Alban and it was very tasty and glad I was able to branch out. It has a good assortment of veggies, chicken, steak, and rice all in a fried shell. Definitely recommend this option and it can even be big enough to split. The service here was very attentive and fast. We waited only a short 5mins before getting a table. Everyone was working hard from the staff and super friendly. We will definitely stop in again while in the area and continue to frequent the Blairsville location as well. BEWARE if paying for the meal as well as tip with credit card. I left my waiter a 20% tip of $8 and change on a $40 bill. Upon checking my credit card receipts the next morning, I saw there was an eighty ($80) discrepancy between my receipt and the amount charged to my account which was I called the restaurant at 2PM to speak with the manager concerning this error. I was told by the manager that our waiter had changed the $8 tip to $80. Upon questioning the manager for a remedy to this problem, she did not answer and hung up on me. I will take this up with my credit card company but wanted folks to be aware of this dishonest practice by Monte Alban. read more

If you are in need of a quick meal, this is the place! We've been renovating a home in the area so lunches have to be quick with no dress code. The food comes out so fast! I went here for a dinner. It wasn't busy which was nice but the waitress I had acted like I needed to order and get out. I ordered a beer, then she came back and was are you ready I said this is quite the menu. She replied just close your eyes and point at something. This reply almost made me leave . I've ate out in May restaurants around the country and I've never been told that. But I stayed ordered the beef taco, burrito, enchilada meal since it was cheap and I figured you can't screw this up. Well, I have to agree with other reviewers that the beef is taste less. I drank my beef ate the meal and left. I will not be returning to this restaurant. I ordered cheese dip and it was very watery. Authentic queso blanco usually has a thick layer on top and gets thick very quickly after served. Here, it stayed liquid the whole time and lacked flavor. It was very awkward to eat. The refried beans were super salty and the Mexican rice also lacked flavor. However, the restaurant was clean and the waitresses were attentive. Also, some chairs are decorated in a nice and inviting way. And the cushions were very comfy! My mom ordered a veggie fajita with shrimp and loved it! Delicious food and great service! Can't wait to go back for more fajitas. They're usually pretty busy but it's worth the wait.

Firstly, we entered the restaurant around 5:40 with a party of 11. Waiting for a table of that size is understandable but when we received our table, they had to split the party. On our way to our seats a server pushing a cart used a bike horn to honk at us, yelling "Get out of the way!". We expected to still remain close but they placed half of the party in a booth across the restaurant. While waiting, we had to constantly move to allow the servers to grab items being stored under the chairs. It took another 10 minutes upon sitting down for a server to take our drink orders and roughly another 10 to get said drinks. After getting our drinks and ordering we waited about 20 more minutes for our food. 2 of us had ordered Pepsi. When it arrived it tasted flat. Then every refill tasted vastly different than the last. The waiter we had was extremely rude, cutting us off mid-sentence as he tried to finish our order before we said it. Half of the time he wasn't even looking at us as he worked, instead focusing on the front door. Our food finally came and the meat was incredibly dry. The chicken used was still in gigantic chunks rather than shredded. The highlight was getting tomato's and lettuce in with your meat so that you could get some moisture in each bite. By this point our chips weren't getting refilled and we still had a full container of queso dip. Upon picking up the salt container, we discovered a dead ant inside. Going to the restroom, there was multiple pieces of trash and debris on the floor. According to another family member, the women's restroom had a toilet that lacked a lid. The only disappointment (and this is a BIG disappointment) is that they don't actually sell liquor here so - while they have margaritas on the menu, they aren't made with tequila. Though very few restaurants earn this high a rating from me, this is indeed the exception. My wife ordered the taco salad with jalapeños. Her only real criticism was the seeming lack of tomatoes. Otherwise she said it was tasty. I ordered the Burrito Supreme which consisted of two burritos, either beef or chicken. I opted for all beef. The burritos were tasty. My only real criticism was the hot sauce I requested, came in individual packets vs a bottle. The staff was very courteous, attentive and proficient.
